BriOnce the fighting started, it felt like time slowed down all together. The fighting seemed to go on forever. I lost track of where Dominic was. I searched the screens hoping to find him. I had to know he was ok. But it was like he had disappeared altogether. And then I saw him being carried out of the trees. He was thrown over Landon's shoulder like a sack of potatoes. In front of him was Blake caring another still body. This one was not being carried so nicely and looked like his throat had been ripped out. The fighting stopped. All eyes were on them. Blake threw the body he had been carrying onto the ground. Every member of The Demon Shadows fell to the ground submissively. "Those of you that wish to continue to follow Cain may stay and meet the same fate as your Alpha. The rest of you better pray to the moon goddess. I never see your faces again." As Blake spoke, Landon moved around him and headed for the house. Angel and I moved together as we headed for the door. I wanted to
BlakeLeaving Bri alone with her mate, it was time to start planning for the future. The pack has been on the move for way too long now. It was time we settled down again. Time we claim land for ourselves. It was time for my pack to begin growing again. I would be able to remove my orders for no new pups to be born. I hated giving those orders. I hated following my own orders on the subject. But we couldn’t chance the loss of any more pups. I couldn’t hear another mother’s wails when her pup was killed during an attack. It was time for the pack to get back to being a pack again. It was time to decide our futures.Along with figuring out the pack, I needed to figure out what was next for Bri. There would be no joining the pack without her mate. And I knew from the years of my pack being on the run that chances of that were slim. Dominic’s experiences with packs will not have been good ones. I would have to find a way to convince him that my pack was different somehow. That and I could
BriMy alarm woke me up, letting me know it was time to give Dominic his medicine. Sitting up, I did as the witch had told me to. When I was done, I laid back down and closed my eyes again. The same dream returned to me. Starting with me looking up at the moon and ending with me climbing in the car to leave. My alarm woke me up at that moment again. I repeated this a couple more times before I didn't go back to sleep after giving Dominic his medicine. I didn't get a chance to as Angel knocked softly on the door before letting herself in. "I brought you something to eat. I didn't think you would leave the room. But you must eat." I shook my head. I wasn't hungry. Shrugging, Angel set the plate on the end table next to the bed. "Then you should get up and at least stretch out your muscles. If you don't, you will become sore and no help to your mate." I shook my head again but sighed at the same time. She was right. "I don't want to leave him." She shrugged. "I can show you a few
Dominic We were back in Bri's house. I had woken up in her room, in her bed. Had everything been a bad dream? Looking around some more, I found a line connected to my arm. So, not a dream. My attention was pulled to the bedroom door as it burst open, and Bri ran in. Running over to me, she wrapped herself around me, our lips connecting instantly. She was safe. Our moment was interrupted by the woman that Blake had sent Bri away with at the cabin and an older man I had never seen before. From the smell of him, he was part of the pack. Reluctantly I let Bri go, who stepped out of the room with the female, leaving me with the older man. "My name is Benjamin. I am the pack's doctor. Alpha Blake asked me to check in on you." I nodded, letting him do what he needed to do. As he worked, the doctor filled me in on my condition while examining me but said there was nothing to worry about since I was awake now. Apparently, I had been poisoned by whatever was in Cain's blood when I killed him.
Bri Dominic and I spent the rest of the week together. We both agreed for now, at least, it was just going to be us. My brother wished we would join the pack but understood our decision. Dominic hadn't ever had a good experience with a pack, and I wasn't raised in the pack. We were both used to living life on our terms. And that was how we planned to live. We promised to stay and finish school, and I had plans to go to the nearest college to be an art teacher. That didn't change. So, for now, the town would stay as unclaimed territory while the pack took over the surrounding lands. To my disappointment, the humans dropped the charges on Cody, letting him go. They said it was his word against mine. And since Dominic wasn't seen at the time of the incident, his statement was thrown out as hearsay. Along with that, the people I knew as my parents disappeared. Once Blake ended the contract with them, it was as though they didn't care anymore. I think this hurt more than anything. It was l
DominicDropping Bri off in front of the art room helped calm me a little bit. I was still angry that the human asshat thought he still had any right to touch her. But with her now in the art room, I knew she wouldn't be leaving there until lunch, and I could be outside the door waiting for her. She wouldn't have to walk to the lunch room alone. The days of her reserving a table for the football team were over.Once I was sure Bri was good, I turned back down the hall, following Cody's scent. Luckily, it led me right into the boy's locker room. Unfortunately for me, he wasn't the only football player in the room. He would have six guys to back him up. While even though there were just as many wolves in the locker room, the chances of them stepping up and having my back were slim. They were all pack wolves while I was a rogue. Odds I was willing to take. Humans fought dirty, though, so I was still prepared to get my ass kicked. But first, I planned on getting my point across to Cody. H
BriThe rest of high school flew by. Before I knew it, graduation came and went. And as I knew it would, my being a wolf and not human lost its novelty, and people went back to ignoring me. I went back to being just another high school student. The only difference was the one person I was always friends with, Cody, was no longer friends with me. He had always been a part of my life since I was little. It was strange not having him a part of my life anymore. But at the same time, I was glad he wasn't a part of my life. Now that I was with Dominic, I realized what my parents, or should I say the people I grew up thinking were my parents, had been trying to tell me. Cody hadn't been good for me. He wasn't nice to me. He didn't treat me the way a person should treat someone they claim to love. Friend or not, he was never actually nice to me. He always wanted me to do what he wanted and never cared about how it made me feel so long as he got his way. My life with Dominic was nothing like m
BriThe whole first week went just like the first day. My four bodyguards, ready and waiting to walk me to each class, eat lunch with me, and then walk me back to my car. And by the end of that week, we definitely had the attention of all the other wolves that attended the same college. It was only a matter of time before one of the groups approached us to ask questions. Though I was sure, it would be one of the packs before the rogues. But to my surprise, I was wrong. With the two packs sitting close by at tables so they could hear anything being said at our table, they watched as the small group of rogues approached the table. Sara and I had just sat down with our food. Page wasn't far behind us. The three rogues stopped just on the other side of the table, looking between Sara and me. A small growl rolled through Sara in warning to them. Smacking her, I rolled my eyes at her. "Hello." The three glanced at Sara and then set their eyes on me. "How is it that a rogue has found hers
AlisonWith Owen and the babies secure, I made my way out of the house. The howels were close by. From the communication coming through the pack's link, the fight was moving in my direction. With a sigh, I made my way off the porch, letting my wolf take over. Moving in the direction of the closest fight was. It didn't take long to recognize who was crossing into our territory. I had spent weeks learning every marking on the wolves that patrolled near the cabin Adam held me at. They left us alone for over a year. And now they wanted to take their revenge. It was slightly maddening. They could have done this sooner. But I would not allow them to go farther into the territory. Joining the worriers that were already there, I helped fight them off. After everything that happened, I have spent even more time training with the rest of the pack. Learning to protect not only myself but everyone else around me. My wolf was strong. We knew this. Not just because she has done what she needed to
OwenI don’t know how he made it happen. But by the time we returned home, Damion had already had everything we would need delivered to the house. The only thing he had the guys set up was a bassinet that was placed in Alison and my room. Everything else was left in their boxes and left in one of the two empty rooms in the house. Allowing us to decide which room would be Hopes and allowing us to be the ones to set it up how we wished it to be. That, of course, didn’t stop him or Bryce from coming over in the coming days to help get everything put together and set up. But I was grateful for the courtesy of allowing us to make the decision on colors and whatnot. Though it wasn’t hard to decide that our baby Hope was going to be anything other than a princess. Being a father was definitely something I didn’t think would be in my cards after everything that happened in my past. And now I don’t know that my life would have been whole if I had never met Alison and she wasn’t the mother to
AlisonStanding there listening to Alpha Nikolai suggest that I wasn’t going to be allowed to leave, and they planned to use me for things I have fought not to happen to me in my life. I am not going to lie. It was hard to control my wolf. Handing my baby girl to her father was the only way I knew to not only protect her but him. If they were going to allow her to leave, then he was the one to leave with her. He would keep her safe. Once she was safe in her father’s arms, my wolf pushed forward, giving a warning growl. One that was cut off by Damion looking over at me with a warning in his eyes but also a warning not just to me but to Bryce through our link. “Not yet. Both of you need to calm down.” A quick glance at Bryce told me his wolf was not a fan of what was being said either. But at Damion’s command, we were both able to pull our wolves back and stay calm while he handled things. Which, if I haven’t said before, he was a damn good Alpha. He looked so calm and collected. His
OwenThey were both healthy. Both my girls were fine. I could breathe again, knowing they were both healthy. However, that didn’t stop the feeling as though something wasn’t right. Standing back up, I did my best to continue to stay calm and keep the role of only being one of the pack’s doctors. A voice in my head told me not to do more than that. If I showed any signs that I was more than just a doctor for the pack and that I was Alison’s partner, something bad was going to happen. It could have just been me being paranoid or reading too much into what Damion said before we left the plane. But the way the one guy that had been in the room with Alison when we walked in didn’t help make the feeling go away. Giving a slight nod to Damion to let him know we were good to go, I stayed close to Alison. Damion returned my nod with one of his own as he turned back to Alpha Nikolai. “Thank you for your help in finding Alison for us. And I do apologize for her trespassing on your land.” Alph
AlisonAfter collapsing with my baby girl in my arms, I was carried back to this packs, pack house. I was placed in a room and left with a woman who didn't know English. Or she didn't seem to, as the only response I could get from her was a smile and a nod of her head, and she continued helping me to get cleaned up. When she was done, and I was dressed in a hospital gown and lying in a bed, she left the room. I was left there with my little girl, who was also now dippered and wrapped in a blanket. A few minutes later, the woman returned with a guy who looked me over. Again, he didn't seem to know English. Leaving me to only guess the guy must be a doctor and the woman a nurse. The two looked me over in a similar way that Owen would have if I had been injured and at home. My attention going back to my baby. Tears sprang up in my eyes. I wished Owen was here. I wish I knew how he felt about being a father. I never got the chance to tell him. Though, I wonder if it matters at the moment
OwenThe rest of the flight was done in silence. The others left me to my thoughts. By the time the plane landed, I was nervous beyond belief. Alison had been pregnant when she was taken, and they said that the she-wolf that was found was in the middle of giving birth. This could very well be her, in which case I was not simply going to be a father. But I was a father. I was not only on my way to hopefully see the love of my life. But also meet my baby. My baby? Was it a boy or a girl? Was it healthy? Was Alison healthy? She had been taken while she was pregnant. Did they make sure she had everything she needed? Had they provided her with any care at all during her pregnancy? They said she was in the middle of giving birth when she was found. Was there any complications? All these things I needed to know. I needed to see her. To look her over and be sure myself not only Alison was well, but our baby was too. The moment I felt the plan stop, I unclipped my seat belt and stood. Damion'
AlisonThe cabin was a little bigger than the one we stayed at before. I still had to sleep in the same bed as Adam. And for the first month with the cuffs on. But the bathroom had walls instead of a curtain. And the kitchen had a stove so we could cook. Adam didn’t let me out of his sight for the first month or so. Only letting me outside when he was there to watch me. Chaining me inside anytime he left. Occasionally, he would return with someone to look at the mark on my neck. Every one of them left with him angry because they said there was nothing they could do about it. My guess was he was looking for someone to remove it, which was impossible. But that didn’t stop him from trying. By the second month, he was leaving me alone without chaining me up. I was also allowed to sleep at night without the cuffs on connecting me to him. Without the chain on me, I was able to move freely throughout the whole cabin, versus being confined to the bathroom area and the bed. I used my newfound
OwenWaking up, my head felt like someone had sucker punched me right in the temple. Only I know that's not what happened. I had been drugged while Alison was taken. Several pack wolves surrounded me, checking on me. All the while, I could hear Bryce there, already giving orders to follow her scent. Damion showed up just as I was being helped into a sitting position, taking over and giving orders to find Alsion. The van she was taken in was already being followed. The only problem was the members following it lost it after a while. Leaving the search to grow cold. At least until after dark when some of the guys picked up on the scent of the guys that took Alison. On Damion's orders, the guys were picked up and brought back to the pack. I will give it to the guys. They did well on holding out. It took Damion's guys nearly a week to get any information out of them. By then, it was too late. Adam was long gone with Alison. That didn't stop the search, though. We kept going. Damion calle
AlisonAdam’s scent surrounded me. I didn’t need to open my eyes to know who was behind my kidnapping. Laying there, I kept my eyes closed as I took stock of myself. I was alright. I wouldn’t be able to shift because he placed another one of those collars around my neck. All my wolf would be able to do was continue to protect our baby, which she was doing a really good job of. It was going to be up to me to get us out of this. A task I am sure will be easier said than done. But I was up for the challenge. The car we were in slowed to a stop. I chanced a quick peek as I watched Adam put the car in park and climb out. I didn’t have a lot of time to plan or even think my escape through. I had just enough time to shift in the seat as he walked around to the other side of the car and opened the back door. Taking the opportunity, I kicked him hard. Landing my blow at his midsection, taking him off guard and making him stumble backward. Grabbing the door, I pulled it closed, hitting the loc
