Chapter 45

Kate’s POV

The murmurs between them are driving me to the edge. I am seated here like a lost zombie not

knowing what to do with myself. And then they are just talking and looking through the files in

front of them like I have not been summoned and my presence doesn’t count.

My wolf is getting just as impatient as I am. I tapped my feet anxiously on the hard floor still

waiting and hoping they do see me. I glanced around the board room trying to focus on

something that might catch my interest in the bland room. It is all the same, white walls brown

woods, and bald-headed old wolves. Few do have hairs that I hope fall off soon.

I pinched my knee, looking to my side and wishing Marilyn would appear. I need someone to

assure me it will be fine and that I won’t end up losing my mind.

The board had called to make a decision as regards the fraud accusation. I was quite sure they

wouldn’t find anything against me
