CHAPTER 70 – FINAL CHAPTER
EMBERLYNN’S POV
I stare at the ongoing construction work, the bulldozer music to my ears.
It took me a lot of packing up and crying to be able to finally make up my mind about breaking down the Smith mansion.
“You look peaceful even in this chaos”, Williams shouts so his voice can come up above the bulldozer he comes to stand beside me.
“Dr. Williams Sims”, I shout in return as I turn to face him.
“Finally you get to call me Williams”, he says with a smile.
“Well you should understand, I wasn’t ready to have another Williams”, I say and he smiles and tucks me into his side.
He is that protective, had been right from the moment he told me I was his younger sister.
Okay I know you all are confused, so when I was admitted in the hospital, the period I lost my baby, I learnt that Dr. Williams Sims was a product of dad and mum, dad wa
CHAPTER 1Power, it was a term that is rather popular, everyone can relate to the need for power and at the same time everyone wanted it for him or herself, I was no different, and for me power had a means, right from the age of 12.You see I was a scrawny child from a really small town in New Jersey, growing up was especially hard since I had no parents, forgotten in an orphanage, aside that I wasn’t a cute kid that people came and awwned over and then decide they should adopt, I was ugly, there was no other adjective to use, I had a crocked nose, and even my teeth was scattered and it showed whenever I smiled, every time we were to line up for a prospective family, we were asked to smile and most of them didn’t hide their cringe when I smiled, I also hated myself so yeah, I didn’t blame them. Struggling against bullies and what not, at 14, I started sneaking into schools to get lectures and I put so much attention in it that in a ma
CHAPTER 2Jack though was true to his words and he put me in school, surprisingly it was easy after he told them I was home schooled and presented paper evidence and even a teacher, well he was a goon or a leader of one so they had such connections and shit, well aside schooling he started teaching me how to fight, for strength he said, no boy from New Jersey should be beaten up in a fight.I put in more effort in my school and pumped as hard as I could and at 17, I was a graduate, ready to face the world, and Jack started getting info about scholarships and that type of stuff, finally he found one for Smith and Gold co. and that was when my means was formed.Jack found out everything about the man so I could apply but I wasn’t really interested since the university he was sponsoring was in Canada, I wanted to go to places where business thrived like New York and its likes but apparently he was giving back to his place of origin, so
CHAPTER 3“So Canada then”, Jack said, two days after my 18th birthday.“Yep, Canada”, I pile the plates atop each other as we get things ready for the dinner rush.“Did you get all the papers you need?” he stirs the pot with the spaghetti sauce.I turn to look at him and for the first time I really look, beyond the brown teeth and the old age which annoyed me most of the time, now I really looked and I saw the wrinkles caused by old age, his hands that looked over used, “Why do you keep cooking? You’re rich enough”, I say turning back to the plates.“My daughter’s favorite thing was my food” he says and I drop a plate in surprise, catching before it shatters. He glares at me and I look away guiltily, “I didn’t know you had a child”, I say after a while.“Well I had, twins and a wife too”, he sighed and put
CHAPTER 4“Welcome to Canada, Mr. Long” the airport attendee said as we got down from the plane, I nodded at her and kept moving with my head bent low.I was still Anthony Long and I didn’t want anyone to associate me with this kid when I finally changed my name. The actual truth was I had already changed my name and even my scholarship was in my new name, but I had an appointment in the court to finalize the whole process. But all that will come after an aggressive shopping, that was not actually on my list of things to do but after Jack gave me his card I decided that I will have a new look to go with the new name.So first of all to the hotel, then to the shopping mall and finally to the dentist, then by tomorrow I can see the judge for the final clearance.I smiled as I flagged down a taxi and then frowned when he looked at me weird and zoomed off, I was trying to wonder what was wrong with Canada when

CHAPTER 6“We will be numbing your teeth by inserting this injection, sir, so just sit back and breathe in”, the dentist says as he brings an injection to my insert in my gums. It’s been a week in Canada and I have had extreme fun, the only downside is not being able to find out a single information about this daughter of William, everyone seems to know he has a daughter but nothing else, not a name, not an age or even where she is at the moment, it was frustrating and annoying but at least I’ve had Emelia and she has been a very good teacher in all things sexual, she even took me to see the sights on a day she faked illness for a sick leave and I had a great time. And I had to lie about my appointment today because by no means no one was to know my weakness, I’ve hidden the fact that my teeth was bad but I didn’t know how to act during my recovery, I had to find a reason to stop seeing her till I was healed a
CHAPTER 7“We welcome all of you to the tour of our prestigious school”, the guide says through a microphone and her voice booms through the halls. It’s been 2 weeks since I had my teeth changed and the pain has lessened considerably but I was still on a liquid only diet and I still gurgle with salt and water, most of the wounds have healed and I could talk without feeling like I was walking on hot coals, generally I felt better and the braces will be put on next week but I got a mail earlier this week that the school would be holding a first tour for people that were handy at the moment and I decided to buy one set of clothing and attend. That was why I was here on a hot Friday afternoon, in the midst of like a thousand people listening to the tour guide telling us about Gold University, Canada.“And for you our special intake we have a special guest, the one and only William Smith”, she screams and my heart
CHAPTER 8A week later and I’m still thinking of Emberlynn Smith and how I should treat the case, at first thought I was going to ignore her existence but right now it is no longer an option because I sat to think of what daughter wouldn’t care if someone is a threat to her father and there were only to available options where she was concerned, kill her or love her, and there was no way I was hard enough to kill her with all those guard around her it will be close to impossible to kill her even if it was a hired killer.I walk into the dentist’s and I raise my hand to wave at the receptionist as I pass straight into the dentist’s office, I’m five minutes late already.“Good morning Luca”, the dentists says with a smile, “Are you ready for your braces?” he asks.I nod absentmindedly and my mind travels to a certain daughter and I begin to wonder how hard it will be to fall in love with

CHAPTER 69ARIA’S POVI fume as I leave the town house, so they didn’t come here, if they weren’t here then they were at the mansion.I had gone to the market place as instructed and Aleysa had been the lead in making fun of me, pissed I had turned back to interrupt whatever plans they had.I get into one of Luca’s car and I take off in the direction of the mansion, I hope it wasn’t a dinner date, I really will hate that Luca made the effort, if it was sex I could understand he was a man and if there was a way to manipulate a wife who loved you, sex was a sure option.I get to the mansion in record time and I see the car packed, I breathe a sigh of relief as I take the front steps, I get to the front door and I push the heavy door open, once I get in my eyes jam with the bodies sprawled on the floor and I scream.I turn around and run forgetting there are steps there, I take out my phone as I climb down the firs
CHAPTER 68LUCA’S POV“You handled that well”, I say after the meeting and Emberlynn smiles.“I guess I trust you so much, I didn’t feel like that was the truth”, she says packing up her bags.“Going somewhere?” I ask“Yes, to the house, I've exhausted the strength for today, it was surprisingly hectic, lots to resolve, very disappointing as I have someone here”, she says and I ignore her jab at me, I give her a smile instead.“Should I rub your feet? Or I could go further up, do that stuff you love with my tongue”, I say wiggling my eyebrow.“Did we used to have lots of sex?” she asks with a full grin.“Of course we did, that is exactly how our little one was formed so early in our marriage”, I say mirroring her grin.I guess sucking up to her a second time wouldn’t be hard, I just had to make sure she doesn&rsquo
CHAPTER 67LUCA’S POVThe atmosphere in this office has never been this tensed, everyone is trying so hard not to say the wrong thing and the meeting hasn’t even started.Kelly and Aria stood behind Mrs. Marilyn and I respectively but Emberlynn insisted they got small chairs to sit, that the meeting will be a long one, so they had both gone to get chairs while Emb looked through some files.it will be stupid to deny that the office looked good on her, she was a boss, something I didn’t recognize before now, but it was true that getting this from her again was going to be tricky. Not only did she enjoy it, she didn’t trust me, I felt it from her right from the hospital and now it was like she was clearing up my people, so the only other option is that I hired the wrong people which still falls back on me.“Do I have something on my face?” she asks breaking my line of thought.“No”, I answer
CHAPTER 66ARIA’S POVShe’s firing me I think, just like that, after all the work I put in, she wants to dispose of me so she will beside Luca and enjoy all his successes, no I think as the words she said replays in my head.“My first decision as the CEO would be to fire Aria, I got dozens of report, you skip work, come late and most times it’s a temp that does your work, I'm not comfortable with that energy, I'm doing a sweep, and I think you should be first to go, thank you for your services, you can do as much as typing your letter, right?” she had said it so casually, with no emotion, as if I didn’t matter, could this be blamed on her memory?Someone doesn’t grow so cold over some loss of memory.“That’s your best friend Emberlynn”, I hear Luca defend me and try to reason with her.She replies him coldly too, her answer is like I'm her property who must conform since I was her best friend.
CHAPTER 65LUCA’S POV“What time are we showing up today?” Aria says from beside me, we had woken up several times in the night going at each other like animals so we slept in real late, the only reason our phones were not blowing up was because I had it off since yesterday as promised and now it was 10, I wasn’t sure I wanted to switch it on after all.“Should we just leave the work today?” I say going to the bathroom, I was hungry for a shower.“We don’t have that liberty, we are in war and we can always use Emb being in the hospital as a reason for going late but definitely not as one for not showing up”, she says making a good point.“Fine, I’ll shower first, don’t put on the phones till we are done bathing and even dressed, I don’t want to have to rush”, I say stepping into the scalding water, I pick up soap and lather my body.I didn’t think I will have t
CHAPTER 64EMBERLYNN’S POV“Whatever you put in that drip is good, I feel stronger” I say as soon as Dr. Sims comes for his morning rounds. He smiles and nods, “Was it the drug in the drip or the fact that you know you're not guilty of the nasty stuff your friend threw at you”, he says.I shrug, “Whatever it is, it’s giving me joy and strength, so I'm grateful”He nods and smiles.I return his smile, I had woken up from my drug induced sleep and found him sitting beside my bed, he said my husband left and so did Aria.He apologized for their attitude and I argued that there was no need, he told me all my husband told him and relieved me of the guilt I felt and then I slept a more rewarding sleep, now I was wide awake and ready to be discharged.“Are you sure you want to leave here? I mean now you get to see your friend unhindered, she might throw worse things your way”, he says.
CHAPTER 63LUCA’S POV“What did you do?” I ask as soon as I locate Aria, when I finally got to the hospital I kept calling her to find out what that call meant but she hadn’t picked up, so I had gone into Emb’s room just to meet utter chaos, they had asked me to excuse them as she was back in code red.I had wanted more explanation but no one was willing to explain so I started hunting for Aria, and after a whole thirty minutes or more I find her on the rooftop.“What do you mean?” she says in a calm controlled voice that I'm not buying even a bit.“I mean I walked into the room of a woman I left utterly healthy few hours ago and she’s suddenly in code red, as far as I know you were the last to see her”, I say imitating her calmness when inside me was a boiling rage.I wanted to be done with this whole mess and just enjoy but even that seems like it’s not possible.“She fou
CHAPTER 62EMBERLYNN’S POVI finally wake up from a restless sleep to see a nurse hovering over me, checking on the wires connected.“Hi”, she says when she sees I'm awake.“You're not Sandy”, I say and realize that sounded rude, “Sorry, I'm getting used to being without memory and I sort of got used to Sandy”, I say apologizing. She looks at me with kind eyes laced with a bit of pity.“Dr. Sims also thought it might be a bit hard for you waking up to a different face but Sandy is on call in the main emergency ward and I needed to check you out of the emergency, your accommodations have been upgraded as you're stable now”, she says making a joke about it.“Instead of transferring me, can’t I go home yet, my husband will want that too”, I say.“You think?”, she asks looking thoughtful and I nod, “Well let me have a bit of a talk with Dr. Sims and I wil
