"I'm ready to move out of this pack," Ronan announced, interrupting our peaceful lunch. I don't know what happened to him but he had been very silent. It was shocking since he had told me that Yamin believed in him.

Sawyer had been glancing over at him every few minutes, which worried me. He wasn’t to blame. Ronan was simply being manipulative, trying to make Sawyer feel guilty.

"Already?" Lady Jane asked, her voice tinged with sadness as she noted her son’s recent loss of cheer.

Payton sat with us, eating her meal but pausing to stare at her brother when he broached the subject of leaving.

"I have no reason to stay behind," Ronan sighed, closing his eyes dramatically.

"Ronan, why do you look so defeated? Please tell us what happened," Lady Jane urged, her concern evident. After what had transpired with Payton, it must have been difficult for her to see her son in a similar state.
