CHAPTER 72

Diego

Serene is so unbelievable that it is becoming increasingly difficult for me to resist her. I am not sure what is wrong with me, but every time I look at her, I start wishing things had not turned out the way they did between us, or rather that I had not behaved like an ass. I am now dealing with a new reality: another man has come into her life. No! There is no way I would let my son call someone else 'Dad'. I need to act quickly. I was still thinking when I noticed the lift close directly in front of me. “No!” I said, wishing I had walked out on time.

It opened, and I found myself on the top floor again. A woman walked in with files in her hands, and I recognized her as Rina Serene's PA. "I thought you were gone, Mr. Myers," she said, smiling.

"That is correct, but I had something else to do before I left," I replied.

"Oh, I see; have fun then," she said as she was about to walk out of the lift, but I interrupted her with a question.

"May I have some coffee with you

CHAPTER 73Diego I felt my hands tighten into fists, and my chest burned with rage as I remembered that Serene had told me the flowers were from her boyfriend. So, all along, my uncle had been the man she was talking about. I know he doesn't love her; whatever he is doing is to gain access to her wealth and steal as much as he can from her, as he did with his wife until she vanished with no trace to date. We all suspected he was behind her sudden disappearance, but we could not gather enough evidence to fight him. I will not allow Serene to suffer the same fate. I went to my room and quickly changed to take a shower while Grace ironed the clothes I requested. When I finished, I walked out and saw Sonia in a bikini. "Hello, sweetheart," she said, walking towards me."What exactly are you doing here?" I asked in a serious tone."What is the meaning of this? I am with my boyfriend, so what is the problem?" she asked."Do not dodge the question, Sonia; what are you doing here?" I repeate

CHAPTER 74Diego I quickly exited the bathroom and found Sonia waiting for me at the door. Since I was not in the mood for her drama, I asked her to open the door, but she remained hesitant. I immediately called Grace, who came to open the door for me. Sonia was so disappointed that she almost scolded Grace, but I intervened quickly. Just as I was about to go downstairs, I ran into my uncle. "Diego, where are you going right now?" he inquired, his curiosity evident.'What should I say now?' I asked myself while I was still thinking up my cock and bull story."Nowhere important, just taking some files to the airport," I lied and dashed out.I walked out and got into my car; I knew my uncle would be following me, so I drove to the airport and asked my cab driver to wait for me at the back door. I walked in and quickly changed into the clothes I had purchased before instructing the professional actor I hired to simply keep driving my car around and distracting the person stalking me. I

I am not saying she should give him a chance or anything. I am just glad that child is with its father; you know what it is like to be without a father's love," Neina told Charlotte, while I laughed at them."Look, Serene, if I were you, I would hold that... I don't even know what to call him," Charlotte said, causing us all to laugh."Okay, ladies, when should I expect your visit?" I asked."So

CHAPTER 76Serene I hope Diego did not take my last statement seriously; I just had to change the sentence because Miguel had woken up. There is no way I would let my son hear what we were talking about, let alone learn how much I dislike his father. "Sweetie, we are here," I said, walking towards his bed with Diego."Hey Champ, are you okay?" Diego inquired, running his hands through Miguel's hair."Uhuh, I… I just had a nightmare," he said."Oh, we are so sorry; trust me, that will not happen again; we will sleep right here next to you," Diego said, while I gave him a fierce look that Miguel did not notice.“No, you can go while I—”“Mommy, where's Daddy going?” Miguel cut me off, and I quickly realized I was about to hint at something bad."To the kitchen for some milk, sweetie, but what are you thinking?" I replied softly, pulling his cheeks as Diego walked downstairs.“Can I switch on your TV?” I inquired as I was looking for a way to prevent Diego from leaving, as he had picked

My heart was so broken after she made it clear that she was not interested in me; I could not believe she admitted that she could not stand me. Opportunity only comes once in a lifetime; the woman I once treated as trash is about to become my bloody uncle's treasure, right in front of my eyes. No! As soon as my son fell asleep, I had to get home. I arrived home and discovered that it was already 4 a.m. So all I had to do was rest for two hours before heading to work, so I got busy.I entered my room and quickly locked the door because I did not want any surprises, especially from Sonia, who was struggling to accept that what had happened to us could no longer continue. That was back when I was a jerk, but now I have learned my lesson. I took off my clothes and went to take a cold shower before bed. As I fell deeper into my sleep, I began

After everyone had finished their studies, we stayed in the same city for a while before moving on to our respective professions. I did not have to go anywhere except to decide where I wanted my father's empire to expand. I would have let my father and his brother run the same company, but I am glad my mother made it clear that I was the only one who would inherit all of her wealth, and Dad had to go with what she wanted even though he was wealthier. So, since everything happened so quickly, I have not heard from Sofia in years, except for rumors about her appearance on a reality show."How about we go on a date,

CHAPTER 80Serene When Miguel ran into my room and attempted to wake me up, I was still deep asleep. I was hesitant at first, but I had to wake up knowing Miguel I did not want to take any further chances. “Sweetie, what's the matter?” I asked, hoping it was not about Diego."Mommy, why don't you want Daddy to sleep on your bed?" He questioned, and I could not believe he figured it out so quickly."No, sweetie, who told you that your daddy lies down right—" I looked at the side of the bed I was going to point to, and it did not even appear that anyone had slept there. Miguel chuckled and ran away after telling me Diego was in his bedroom. What is he doing there, given the text I sent him yesterday, and who permitted the guards to let him in? I didn't even have time for those responses, so I dashed out after Miguel into his room. Diego quickly stood on his feet, terrified. Well, it is not the kind of fright that intimidates you; it is just that one of me is probably going to get him

I wondered when he was going to depart for the meeting since I had a plan to find out what he was keeping from me, but my main concern was destroying whatever surprise he might be preparing. "Honey, shall we send Mia to spend time with her family?" I asked him since Miguel had gone to the Bahamas with Charlotte and Andrew."Yes, I am here to take care of you. Therefore, I believe it is a fantastic idea," he agreed.I already had enough maids, and Mia was exhausted from all the hassle Miguel had caused her. So I got up and went upstairs to see if she was there, only to see her departing Miguel's room."Hey, I need to talk to you," I started, and I could see she knew exactly what I wanted to say."Madam, please, I want to stay and t

CHAPTER 171Serene When George called to inform me about Sofia, I was still eating dinner together with Miguel and Charlotte. Sofia appeared to have forgotten that I was the reason she eventually gained some attention and a few gigs that aided her financially, so I simply had to go get her. Not to mention the money I paid her when she lied to me about being pregnant with Diego. Instead of attempting to outbid me for Diego, she should just be appreciative and back off. When I arrived at the casino, the bartender informed me that Sofia and Diego were in some room. I was first full of hostility, but as we approached the door, I heard Diego pleading with her to stop, but she persisted, so I entered.Diego was overcome with terror, but it did not matter since I had to deliver Sofia a nuclear slap, and I succeeded. The fact that she wanted to smack me back was unbelievable to me. I mean, who does that? She would require critical treatment if one of my guards touched her, judging by the way

I was somewhat relieved that someone finally received what she deserved when she said that, and before she could reply, two smacks fell on her face.“How dare you?" I stopped Sofia's attempt to smack Serene by holding her hand.“Don't even think about it," I warned.I hoped she had remained silent, but she added, "Let go of me, just watch what will happen when Max finds out about this.""What did you just say?" Serene asked, walking closer to Sofia."Max is coming for the two of you, so your fiancé will regret having you smack me," Sofia remarked.Damn, couldn't she just keep quiet? I don't even know how I'm going to explain things to Serene."Sweetie Max is busy having the best experience in jail. I would not mind taking you there once you pass by the mental institution, okay

CHAPTER 169Diego The worst aspect could be Serene learning the truth about what happened to her twin sister, but time is running out and she is very near to learning that I got Max, Nelly, and Sandra out of jail. After saying hello to Charlotte, I left and headed to a casino to see George, who could have some ideas. "I get you, but the babies will suffer if you tell her the truth. What happens if she does not respond coolly?" he asked."That is exactly what I am thinking; I am afraid I could lose her again. Perhaps I should quickly get married," I proposed." Yes, but you are aware of the pain of being kept in the dark. Serene is severe and dangerous. Believe me, she will not spare you if you do anything weird with her sentiments," George cautioned."When will you get serious and quiet sounding so negative?" I murmured to George, who appeared to be scaring me already."Maybe you could find a permanent method to keep Max quiet or talk to Grace so she may have something more valuable

CHAPTER 168Serene It's almost noon and Miguel's body reacted positively to the medicine. He asked me to make him some pasta which made me rush my way to the kitchen. I could tell that the maids wanted me to sit but I always prefer making my fiancé and son the dishes. I was still cooking when a message came onto my phone; I at first ignored it, thinking it was just emails from my clients, but later got a shock. I walked into Miguel's room with a tray of food and placed it on the table before taking a seat to feed him. “Mommy, where's Daddy?" Miguel asked."He is at the office. Do you want me to give him a call?" I said promptly, grinning.“No, I just wanted to tell him to go to work. I'll be OK. I thought you said I'm strong right?" he asked."Of course, baby, you are my Roman Reigns," I informed him, smiling confidently. After eating, Miguel went to the toilet, and I quickly got my phone to see what was in my emails when I could not believe what the folks in that video were saying.

He remarked, "Baby, you are done already?" without even realizing how long I had been standing there.“Yes, I was here but —" “Did you hear what I said?" He cut me off.“Yes I…I listened to what you had to say, and I would like to hear it again with an explanation, Mr. Myers," I said."Well, George had a huge crush on Charlotte and was upset that Andrew had taken her away. He has been planning to confront Andrew, but I think that is a bad idea because that could get him in trouble with Charlotte, who will not let him off the hook easily," he said, and I could not believe what I had previously believed had been verified. I knew George had something for Charlotte."Maybe you are right, Charlotte will not spare him if he does something that will annoy Andrew. I will attempt to talk to him," I proposed."No, I'll do it instead. I mean, I

CHAPTER 166Serene I was busy setting the table when one of the maids brought the flowers into the kitchen. I didn't know what to say as Diego was the only person capable of that. I loved the surprise so I waited for Diego to come so I thanked him but he was more surprised than me. “Wait.. you are not the one that sent me this?" I asked, reacting to his shocked expression.“I didn't, but it could be one of your fans,” he said, but fear got the best of me as it was usual for them to send something without notifying me.“Maybe," I said, asking the maids to pack the roses away.I was still wondering about who the sender may be when Diego walked upstairs to change as I was putting his lunch on the tray behind him. When I entered the bedroom, I noticed Diego standing near the table, appearing uncomfortable. "Honey, is everyone OK?" I said, glancing up as I laid the tray."Yes, I am all right, just a bit fatigued," he said, attempting to deceive, but I saw through him."Really? Because my

We walked away as Max watched us in disbelief.I have given him shares in the Boston-based firm, but if he attempts to approach Serene or Miguel in any way, I will take everything away from him. Him discovering that Serene's pregnant and attempting to use that information to undermine me by revealing the truth is my worst worry. Max got a call from Diego while we were still applauding. “What happened?" Sandra and I asked as we both stood up noticing the change in his expression.“It's Diego, he is so mad that we gave his fiancee a panic," Max responded."To hell with that fiancée thing; we are simply doing what we need to,” Sandra said, and I nodded in agreement."He stated that he would not give me the contract if I do it again," Max remarked, with anxiety in his voice.I told him to relax and enjoy the moment as we would undoubtedly touch the wrong buttons if Diego dared. Afterward, we all sat down and kept on drinking until I got a call from an unidentified number. I pretended not to see the call until I saw a text that arrived later because I was not sure if I should answer it or just ignore it as it may be David attempting to contact me. "It's Sofia White p
