CHAPTER 80

Serene

When Miguel ran into my room and attempted to wake me up, I was still deep asleep. I was hesitant at first, but I had to wake up knowing Miguel I did not want to take any further chances. “Sweetie, what's the matter?” I asked, hoping it was not about Diego.

"Mommy, why don't you want Daddy to sleep on your bed?" He questioned, and I could not believe he figured it out so quickly.

"No, sweetie, who told you that your daddy lies down right—" I looked at the side of the bed I was going to point to, and it did not even appear that anyone had slept there. Miguel chuckled and ran away after telling me Diego was in his bedroom. What is he doing there, given the text I sent him yesterday, and who permitted the guards to let him in?

I didn't even have time for those responses, so I dashed out after Miguel into his room. Diego quickly stood on his feet, terrified. Well, it is not the kind of fright that intimidates you; it is just that one of me is probably going to get him

Maybe we should start doing things the hard way, OK?" I said, about to call the guards, when my towel loosened and nearly fell off, but Diego caught it in time."What do you think—," I almost asked looking at him, but then noticed he had closed his eyes and tightened his grip on me."Do not worry, I am not looking. I know you're embarrassed but you are used to this touch, so relax," Diego said, and I somehow let it sink in as he slowly tightened the towel.I began to recall those days when he was calmer and nicer to me when he would tell me about his plans for us, but a memory of what caused all of that to fail came flooding back, and I pushed him so hard that he nearly fell to the ground, safe for the couch that stood there. It is not like he

I can not wait to win Serene over; if only she knew how serious I am about this relationship. I want to make her a part of my life from the moment I realize my heart beats for her. I reached into my pocket and discovered that my phone was not with me. I got into my blazer, but there was still nothing. “Daddy is everything OK?” Miguel inquired, noting how concerned I appeared.“Yes, I was just looking for —”“This,” Serene replied, holding my phone.“How did you get that?” I asked as I was shocked."Well, you seemed to have donated it to my floor," she smiled and returned it.“Oh, sorry, thanks,” I responded with a smile."Next time, be cautious," She said, and I understood. We all took our seats and began watching the movie. I was still trying to figure out why Serene lied about being on a date on my way upstairs when a message from her PA came. I opened it and couldn't believe my eyes. She had booked a flight to Australia without informing me as if I could not cope without my son. I was still in disbelief, and calling her would be a waste of time because she would not answer. I attempted to confirm if there was still room on the plane, but all tickets had sold out because they were only reserved for a select group of elite passengers. The next morning, I got up a little late and went downstairs. "You took longer than usual; should we go or not?" Grace asked, referring to the shopping."We are going, but not right now; gi

If only the ground would swallow me, and my son was the first to leave after I lied about pranking his father. "Mommy, I found Daddy; will I go with him now that I have won?" he asked while I could not believe Miguel was so eager to accompany his father."Sweetie, what about some other time daddy has business to handle?" I asked, hoping Diego would agree.“But mommy —”"Yes, your Mom is correct; I will take you both when I am free, so—”"No, no, that is not true, child. Grandma is here, and if your parents are busy delaying, I will take you," Grace interrupted me as she walked towards Miguel."This is your late grandmother's best friend, so you can also refer to her as your grandma's son," I explained, and he seemed thrilled.“Grandma,” Miguel said in disbe

I was having trouble getting in, so I asked the guards to let her know I was outside. I was about to get back in the cab when I noticed my uncle's car. 'Damn that bastard is here,' I cursed and walked away before he noticed me."Take me home," I instructed the driver."Are you certain, Sir, that we should go?" I knew things might either go well or poorly, despite Kyrell's protests. The address she provided me was an abandoned warehouse outside of London where many criminals would hide from the police. It had rusty timbers and smashed window frames, and the stench of unclean water and rot permeated the air, indicating that many secrets and dead were likely buried inside. My footfall reverberated as I walked with one hand on top of my bump.
