Lyra POV

I sat in the room for hours after Bethany had cleared away the remnants of breakfast, boredom creeping in like an unwelcome guest. The thought of stepping outside for fresh air, to run in the woods as I once loved, gnawed at me. But the fear of Lucian spotting me and using me for his schemes kept me rooted in place. I wrapped my arms around myself, standing near the window, watching the deserted driveway and the nearby trees swaying gently in the breeze.

The sight triggered a memory of my mother. She loved watching the wind carry the leaves, often remarking that it was a sign of the Moon Goddess's favor. I was lost in the thought when a soft knock on the door pulled me back to reality.

The door creaked open carefully, and Bethany stepped in with an unusual glow on her face. Her eyes sparkled with excitement, as though a heavy burden had been lifted.

"Lyra, the moment you’ve been waiting for is here," she announced with a wide smile. "You can finally go outside, enjoy the fre

Lyra Pov I sat in the living room, staring at the pictures on the wall while I waited for Bethany to return. The hum of her sister’s soft tune floated through the air, faint but calming. I leaned back against the couch, letting my eyes close for a brief moment, trying to drown out the lingering guilt and tension that seemed to follow me wherever I went. But then, faint whispers broke through the hum. My ears perked up instinctively. At first, I thought I imagined it, but the words grew clearer, harsh and cutting.“He told me that you are going against his will, and because of that, he cut our supply. He no longer sponsors my medical expenses,” a bitter voice hissed, laced with frustration.I sat upright, alert. The voice was faint, but the emotion behind it was unmistakable. Then came the sound of soft sobbing. My curiosity and concern got the better of me. Quietly, I rose from the couch, glancing over my shoulder to see if Bethany’s sister had noticed me. She was still humming, seem

Varg Pov I pulled into the driveway of Mol-ten Diner, a place that had always felt like home to me. It wasn’t just a diner, it was a haven of memories, the kind that lingered long after the taste of a good meal. My parents had brought me here when I was a child, and later, I’d brought my ex here, trying to share the warmth and nostalgia this place carried. The diner had a charm that never faded: the retro sign with its neon glow, the sound of the bell jingling as the door opened, and the faint aroma of freshly brewed coffee mixed with sizzling bacon. Even now, standing in front of it, I could feel the weight of those memories pressing down on me. Good memories, the kind I desperately wanted to cling to.I pushed open the door, and the bell rang softly, announcing my arrival. Inside, the atmosphere was warm and lively, with the clatter of dishes and the hum of soft chatter filling the air. Booths lined the walls, their red vinyl seats as familiar as ever. A jukebox stood in the corner

Lyra's Pov The ride back to the mansion was tense. I felt as though my thoughts were tied in knots, replaying Varg’s words about our intimate night over and over. The moonlight hung high in the sky, bathing the world in its soft glow, while Varg hummed along to the mellow tune playing softly on the stereo. He glanced at me briefly, his red eyes catching the moonlight in a way that made them gleam. His lips curved into a subtle, almost unnoticeable smile, and for a moment, his calm demeanor made me wonder if I was overthinking everything. Maybe, just maybe, things really were changing.“Your thoughts are racing,” he said, his gaze returning to the road. “Take a deep breath. Relax.”I bit my lip, wondering if he could somehow hear my thoughts. His red eyes flickered again, sharp yet soothing, and for a moment, I felt exposed. I shifted in my seat and looked away, focusing on the moonlight filtering through the trees as if that would drown out the chaos in my head. When the car finally

Varg's Pov I kissed her softly on the neck, my lips brushing against her skin as I whispered, “Tell me to stop.” The urge to mark her was overwhelming that night, the full moon's energy intensifying every emotion within me. The way she said my name, her voice breathless and laced with something deeper, only fueled the fire burning inside me. I wanted her to stop me, to give me a reason to hold back, but she didn’t. It was clear she wanted me as much as I wanted her.She shifted on the bed, turning to face me with her eyes still closed. Her hesitation was gone, replaced by something raw and unspoken. “If you want me to stop, say the word,” I muttered, leaning closer until my lips met hers in a soft, lingering kiss. Her lips moved against mine, and the energy between us shifted, electric and undeniable. My hand moved instinctively, sliding down to unbutton her shirt. She responded with equal fervor, her hands gripping my shoulders as she kissed me back, her breaths shallow and quick.

Lyra's Pov The sound of banging and hitting pulled me from my sleep. I sat up slowly, my eyes heavy and blurry as I rubbed them with the back of my hand. Sunlight poured through the window, bright and warm, signaling that I had slept longer than intended. The noises coming from the other room, sharp and rhythmic, made it clear that Varg was busy with his early morning training.I glanced around the room, noticing the empty space beside me. Varg wasn’t there. With a sigh, I swung my legs over the edge of the bed, walking to the closet. I pulled out a simple blue dress, slipped it on, and headed to the bathroom to freshen up. After splashing water on my face, I felt more awake and ready to confront the day. When I returned to the room, the door creaked open, and Bethany walked in. She carried a tray of food, her steps careful and her gaze firmly fixed on the floor. It was obvious she was avoiding my gaze. She placed the tray gently on the small table next to the couch, then turned as i

I really do. But the safest place for you right now is here. If I could stay, I would.” My words carried the weight of truth, but they didn’t seem to offer much comfort. Before I could decide whether to leave her with just words, she stood up and closed the distance between us. Varg Pov "Seems more like the rumors got to you," Lucian said, clicking his tongue as he set the whiskey bottle on the table with a deliberate thud. His tone was calm, almost mocking, as though my words were nothing more than idle gossip to him.I stared at him, my anger simmering just beneath the surface. “Don’t play coy with me, Lucian. You think I don’t know what you’ve been doing? Using Lyra as a pawn in whatever twisted game you’re playing?”He leaned back against the desk, crossing his arms casually, his lips curling into a faint smirk. “And what exactly is it you think you know?” he asked, his voice smooth but laced with challenge. “Because from where I’m standing, you’re grasping at straws, Varg.”My fists clenched, the wood of the armrest groaning under the pressure of my grip. “Don’t treat me like I’m stupid!” I growled, rising from the chair. “You’ve been sending her on missions, manipulating her to go after the Moon Pack, bit by bit, wolf by wolf. Those eyes… Jacob, it wasn’t just a wolf.”Silence hung between us, the weight of the encounter pressing down like a heavy stone. The forest, once so alive with its usual nocturnal sounds, now felt suffocatingly quiet, as though even nature itself was wary of the creature.Jacob broke the silence with a soft exhale, his breath heavy with concern. “We need to figure out what that was, and fast. If it’s still out there, it’s a threat to everyone.”I nodded, though my insides churned with unease. “We’ll find out,” I said, my voice firm, even as my thoughts spiraled. “Whatever it takes.”But as the words left my lips, a sinking dread rooted itself deep in my chest. And I was damn sure going to follow through.“Varg!” Jacob’s voice rang out as I swung my leg over the bike. “Where are you heading?
