He smiled gently. “Go and sleep, okay? I will think about that. It is my own trouble to handle. My responsibility to you is to protect you,” he said, his voice steady and reassuring. But I didn't feel like sleeping. The only thing I wanted now was to explain to him how I ended up with Grandma. He had not heard the story yet, and I wanted him to. I couldn't help but feel that telling him my story would make him know that I was not lying when I told him that I just found out about it.
