"There is a commotion in front of the palace," someone said as I was in the kitchen trying to get water.

I paused, my hand still gripping the pitcher. "What's happening?" I asked, stopping a maid who was hurrying past.

"A woman is complaining. That is all I know, Luna," she said, bowing briefly before continuing on her way.

Curiosity piqued, I decided to follow her. As I stepped outside, the noise grew louder, a cacophony of raised voices blending into an indistinct roar. My heart sank when I realized Xavier was nowhere in sight.

The crowd was massive, a sea of faces contorted with various expressions of anger, concern, and curiosity. As soon as they noticed me, a hush fell over the assembly, and every eye turned toward me. The weight of their stares was almost physical, pressing down on me, making me feel exposed and vulnerable. I could feel my palms growing clammy, and a knot of anxiety twisted in my stomach.
