Giovanni's face was turned to me and he gave me the most hateful glare before releasing my hand. I staggered back and Lorenzo caught me before I could fall.

His jaw was clenched as he stared at me for a few seconds before moving away from me when I was steady. His eyes moved from my face as he looked my up and down, his eyes dropping down to my stomach. I haven't seen him in one month and I could feel my heart beat speeding up at bringing such close proximity with him. He looked rough and disheveled.

Like he hasn't bothered caring for himself. His hair was overgrown and his beards were literally covering his entire jaw. His eyes were full and empty, no hint of life in it.

This was the scariest I had seen Lorenzo.
