Jaque POV
. . "Jaque!" my stepmother's voice echoed in the whole house like thunder, jolting me from my spot. I was in my room and had just finished cleaning the second floor of this house. As much as possible, I would like to rest for a bit, but it looked like the word resting for me would only happen when I was already dead. "What does she want this time?" I muttered under my breath as I got up and dragged myself to the door. "Coming, Lauren!" I answered before she would yell again. Upon coming downstairs, a black ball gown with a sweetheart neckline covered my petite body. "Here!" I knew that was Lauren even if I couldn't see her face. The sound of her demanding voice was no longer new to me. "Take care of this with your life. Jasmine will wear this for the ball tonight!" "The ball?" I asked, surprised. No one told me about the ball. Oh, well! What's new in this pack? No one told me about special events like this. Except for preparing the pack's food and doing their laundry, the whole members, including my so-called family, kept me blind for grand occasions. "Yeah! The ball, I'd!ot!" Jasmine chimed in. I held the heavy gown tight while tilting my head to the side. Contouring a vexing look, Jasmine scowled at me. "What? Don't tell me you're planning to go!" she burst out laughing while she covered her mouth dramatically. "No! I'm not!" I defensively uttered. Who was I to attend such extraordinary events? I was just a nobody first daughter of Louis Davis, beta of Blood Moon Pack. "I just want to know why the pack is having a ball tonight?" Before Lauren could answer, Jasmine already butted in. Waving her hand back and forth on my face as she ambled to my side, "Adam, the future Alpha of this pack, and my future husband!" she tittered. "Is having a masquerade ball. And he's now going to declare to the pack his mate and Luna, who, by the way, ME!" Everything that Jasmine bubbled didn't register in my mind. However, there was only one sentence that caught my attention. "Adam is back?!" again, that significant news and the reason why I was still in the Blood Moon Pack was hidden from me. "He's back from the Alpha training?" I couldn't hide the excitement in my eyes as they glistened. My voice also gave me away, making the mother and daughter duo raise their well-trimmed brows at me. "Be respectful, Jaque!" Lauren roared. "Alpha Adam for you. Don't you dare drag this family down with your ill-mannered attitude!" Ill-mannered?! I was curious: Did they even know the meaning of that word? "Huh?! Mommy, where do you think she got that disgusting behavior? From her mistress human mother, of course!" Now, that's out of the line. I promised myself before. They could throw stones at me, but they should never speak ill about my mother, who passed away with a broken heart because of them, including my father. "Don't talk about my mom that way, Jasmine!" my voice was calm but stern. Something they had never heard from me before, even Jasmine stepped back. A hint of fear and shock flickered in her eyes. "Mommy!" scared now, huh?! "How insolent!" before I could react, her palm already collided with my cheek, leaving some stinging pain. I wanted to touch my cheek that was slapped, but I couldn't afford to drop this heavy gown in my hand. Even a single inch of its hem on the floor could cost me my one-day meal. "Hmp! That serves you, b!tch!" Jasmine crossed her arm over her chest. "Put my gown in my room. Spread it on my bed, id!ot!" I turned around before they could see my tears. I never shed tears in front of them since my dad brought me here when I was ten. After putting the gown on her bed, I went to my room at the far corner and plopped myself on my single wooden bed. I would like to burst out, but upon thinking of Adam coming home, my heart fluttered. I had never seen him for three years now. He was my crush since my childhood days. My dampened mood brightened as I got up and walked excitedly to my small closet. I opened it wide and took out a big brown box. I carried it on my bed and dropped the cover to the floor. My eyes sparkled as I pulled out a beautiful dark velvet off-shouldered bridesmaid's dress. Its design was simple yet striking. It's my mom's and she wore this in her best friend's wedding. I remembered pretty well her story about this dress. That's how she met my father. According to him, he was blown away when he saw her walking down the aisle. I already made my decision. I was going to attend the ball no matter what. Besides, it's a masquerade ball. I would just get some materials from the stock room and make myself a mask. Inside the box was also a pair of red-strapped sandals, hoping they also fit. I locked the door to my room before stripping off. I looked at myself in the rectangular mirror attached to the wall. I smiled at the woman staring back at me. I couldn't imagine how time flew this fast. I didn't want to brag, but I would give the merit to my mom. I looked exactly like her, except for my eyes. While she had hazel brown almond eyes, I had moss-green thin almond orbs. I got that from my dad. The only similarity I got from him, I guessed. As I wore her dress, I felt her presence. The scent she still had mixed with the smell of fabric being stucked in a box for too long wasn't bad at all. It was actually hypnotizing. "Mom!" I mumbled in the air when I saw my reflection. I felt like she was speaking to me, remembering everything she taught me when she was still alive. Flashbacks of her memories transitioned into slideshows in my mind while tears rolled down my face. "Sweetheart, be strong and always remember, I'm here for you no matter what?" "My sweet pea, you're half she-wolf and half-human. It doesn't matter if you're wolfless someday. You have your own strength. Don't compare yourself to them!" "When the right time comes, you will also meet your mate. Do not reject him no matter who or what he is. He's the only one who can protect you from this cruel world!" I wiped the tears from my cheek. Lauren's fingerprints were still there, but it wasn't that painful anymore. The pain I felt now was for my mom, who was blinded by my father's sweet talks and gestures. "Mom, I promise, I won't let you down!" I told myself as a thin smile formed on my face. Tonight, I would change my fate in this pack and this world.Jaque POV . . I woke up, jolting on my bed when I heard my alarm on my bedside table ring, followed by my best friend's call on my phone. "Hah?! I said just an hour's rest!" I grumbled while groping the alarm. My eyes were still shut, and as I opened them and checked the time, I hastily got up and took my phone. "Hello, Kelly!" "Finally, you answered. I've been texting you, girl!" Kelly grunted. "Where are you? You're late for school, baby!" I groaned. "I know. I was just tired!" I muttered while taking out my PE uniform from the drawer. "I woke up early to clean the whole house!" dragging my feet to the bathroom, my slippers were scratching the floor. I heard a sigh from the other line before Kelly spoke. "I know. That so-called family of yours is horrible. Hurry up now. I asked Andrew to pick you up. Maybe he's on his way!" "Okay! I just uttered before ending the call. Andrew was Kelly's elder brother and the future beta of this pack. Just like Adam, he was also a
Jaque POV . . He suddenly got up, not minding that he was naked. He paced back and forth in front of me, feeling confused and stressed. "Adam, what's the matter?" I asked, a bit worried. I sat up and clenched the duvet tight to cover my bareness. My gaze was fixed on him. He abruptly stared at me, his mouth hung ajar. He shook his head when he saw a blood spot on the mattress. "Jaque!" he muttered. I could barely hear his voice, but it sounded gloomy. "I...I didn't expect this!" what?! I got up still holding the duvet and ambled towards him, but he stepped back. Was he avoiding me now? "Adam, we're mates. This is bound to happen. What do you mean you didn't expect this?" He messed his hair, feeling frustrated. A loud groan escaped his lips as he lifted his head like he was asking for an answer from the ceiling. "Why? Why her?" Why me?! Was that what he meant? "Why me what?" I questioned. My tone sounded a bit straightforward. It took him a while before he
Jaque POV . . It had been three days since the Masquerade Ball was held, and for those days, I focused on my studies. I was glad that I didn't see Adam lurking around the packhouse and the campus. He also graduated from this school a few years ago, and as the future Alpha, he was required to check the development of every facility and the status of everything in the pack. I hadn't seen Jasmine's shadow loitering around either. The last thing I heard was that Adam called for her presence in the mansion. She must have been jumping around like a five-year-old kid, considering her wish would be fulfilled someday. Or perhaps...SOON! "Hey, girl!" Kelly tapped me from behind. I was sitting alone on a picnic bench under these tall pine trees at the back of the school. My classes had ended 30 minutes ago, but I didn't want to go home yet. "Hey!" I greeted back with a smile. She sat across from me and placed a plastic cup of iced sweet americano in front of me. "I know you're gonn
Adam POV . . I couldn't shake the feeling when I saw Andrew's hand resting on her shoulder. The possessiveness I felt was strong. My wolf would like to snap his hand now if I didn't shove it away from the back of my head. 'That's my mate, he's touching' I heard Kylo, my wolf grumble. 'She's no longer our mate. Remember that. Jasmine is our mate now,' I roared back, earning me a growl. 'That slut is your mate, id!ot, not mine. That slut isn't my Luna. She doesn't deserve the title. Jaque is my only Luna,' I shoved Kylo far away from my sanity. Since I rejected Jaque, he had been bugging me every day and didn't want to take a run at night. He wanted me to apologize to Jaque and accept her as my mate. However, it was too late. Something had already happened between Jasmine and me the other night. It was so fast; we were both drunk, and I couldn't even remember having sex with her. The next day, I woke up naked with her sleeping beside me. How I wished I also felt something
Jaque POV . . Within abrupt seconds, King Logan was already in front of me. His face was buried in the crook of my neck, sniffing my scent. His hand caressed the strands of my long auburn hair while I was just standing there like a freaking statue. While everyone else was watching with awe, most guests in the Ceremony Night gave us cursing scowls. Like I could hear what they were saying at the back of their heads. 'Why her?' 'How arrogant is she?' 'She doesn't deserve to be the king's mate!' 'She is just a low-leveled servant. An omega!' And me... My vision clouded, and my breathing became rapid like a herd of horses racing in my chest. My mind was fighting against my heart. The mate bond that was snapped before was bound stronger, and the pull was harder to resist. No! No! This wasn't happening. Not this again. I didn't want to have mates anymore. I couldn't afford another rejection. I was shaking my head while my gaze was fixed on him. "My queen, why are
Logan POV . . "Ahh!" I snapped the marbled desk, and it split into two. My fury couldn't contain my wolf, Thorin, from what happened tonight. "F*cking find her!" I growled at my beta and delta, and they sprinted at once. 'How dare she reject us?' Thorin was furious, and so was I. 'How dare she not accept us in front of everyone?' Thorin would like to ascend. 'Let me find her!' 'You know d*mn well that you can't control yourself if you're this enraged!' I reminded him. 'That Jasmine said she is wolfless, so she can't shift. Beta Jackson and Delta Peter can find her!' I would just wait here in my suite at the hotel. Alpha Adam's family owned this building, and we're going to stay here for three days. 'What's her connection with the Alpha and future beta?' I was wondering myself. The reaction of Adam when that future Beta Andrew held her shoulder screamed possessiveness. Something I should only possess when it came to Jaque because she was my mate. 'We need to figure that
Logan POV . . Upon emerging at the entrance of the cave, Beta Jackson and Delta Peter were both waiting for me with our clothes in their hands. "Our king, you have found our queen!" Beta Jackson inquired with a wide smile. A smile of joy and excitement coming from a childhood friend. "I'm so happy for you, my king!" he added while giving me my clothes. "Thanks, my friend!" I gently put Jaque down while reaching for my three-piece suit from my beta. The moment her flat shoes touched the wet ground, she immediately hid herself in front of Jackson and Peter. She buried her face on my bare chest and hugged me tight. Based on the spark of the mate bond, I could feel two different emotions coming from her: One was fear, and the other was doubt. My beta's and delta's mouths hung ajar, showing a shocking expression. I gave them a slight snarl and mind-linked them to leave, giving us some privacy. The two bowed right away. "It's wonderful to finally meet you, our queen!" Peter g
Jasmine POV . . At the same time... "It can't be, mom. It can't be!" I was freaking out. My mother and I were inside my room here at the Hayes mansion, wondering what had just happened. I paced back and forth in front of my mother. I could tell she was as agitated as I was. "I know, Jasmine. I know exactly what you feel right now, but you have to calm down!" My mother was as upset as I was, but she was still calm while I was on the verge of attacking my stepsister. If only I had already had my wolf, I would have lunged at her and snapped her neck. But I was not officially eighteen yet. "Mommy, I don't want to be Jaque's servant!" I told my mom as I halted in front of her, holding her shaking hands. "We have to do something. We have to get rid of her!" My mind was clouded with darkness. "You can never be her servant, Jasmine!" "Yeah! But she is the king's mate, and I am just a Luna. She is higher than me!" I stomped my feet, feeling frustrated. All I thought at the
Adam POV . . I got up and fixed the hem of my sleeves while Camira helped Delmar get up. I was so furious that when he got the chance to stand steadily, I gave him a strong hit on the jaw, making Camira startle as he fell back to the floor. "Alpha Adam, what do you think you're doing?" She immediately stepped between us, shielding this impostor from me. He groaned, getting up for the second time. Still smirking at me while Camira faced my rage. "You can't pretend for d*mn too long, j@ck@ss!" I roared. "You are lucky, Camira is here. If not, I would have torn you into pieces!" I pointed at him, Camira snapping my hand. "That's enough!" She roared at me. "He doesn't fight you, okay? Whatever that is that makes you upset again!" I shifted my glare at Camira and mind-linked her. 'Believe that j@ck@ss all you want, but I am telling you!' I glanced back at him, who was now standing still while touching his jaw. 'He has a hidden agenda, and we are all in great danger if we do
Adam POV . . Just one ordinary day at the Council. I was busy flipping the pages of some documents Camira sent me this morning while browsing some of the reports on my laptop. I creased my brows when my eyes caught something. 'Camira!' I mind-linked our budget officer at once. 'To the office!' I gently uttered. Being the leader, you should be tough and aggressive. That was the teaching Amos planted to the staff here, but I was not Amos and would never be. I treated the staff here as my friends, at the same time putting a wall between us. Meaning, we should all know our positions. 'Yes, Alpha!' Camira responded. 'Shall I bring you something, Alpha?' She also asked. I could already smell her scent coming to my office. 'No! Just you!' I told her. I had my laptop, and the budget for next month's emergency funds for every pack was flashing on the screen monitor. 'Alpha, what's the matter?' She asked as she arrived at the door. I just nodded at her, signaling her to take the s
Adam POV . . "Witch Orora, can I come in?" Since last night, aside from that overwhelming feeling I shared with Amira, I felt something different. Something unexplainable. Something that only the witches could tell. When she just left this morning, I felt devastated, like I had lost something that was part of me. Like I had lost my heart and my soul. The door creaked open, and Orora's stern face welcomed my desperate look. "What is it, Alpha Adam?" Her tone was also nonchalant. Did something happen before I came here? "Alpha Adam, if you are just going to stare at me in front of my door, you can take a photo and leave!" I was nudged by her aggressive voice. "My bad. Can I come in? I need your help with this one. It is about Amira!" I heard her sigh and saw her roll her eyes before she opened the door wide and let me in. "Would you like some tea?" Her voice was still stoic but a little bit nicer this time. Also, yes, I was going to need a liquid to calm my nerves. "T
Orora POV . . Something was odd. I had been searching for that book in my library for hours but I couldn't find it. I had been floating in the air for hours and circling around these stacks of ancient books. I hadn't read that book for disguise in a long time, and now that I needed it, I couldn't find it. "Arrg! Orora, think! Come on!" I swayed my wand, and it formed a glitter in the air. That wand was a gift from the moon goddess itself. She told me to use it if something important needed to be fixed. For now, Amira's situation was THAT something very important. "Orora, we have a visitor!" One of my witches knocked on the door. "It is Princess Amira's mate, Delmar!" I immediately went down to the floor and stuck my wand on the side of my waistband while forming a fake smile. "Vina, stock them back. Hurry!" I told my witch, and she hurriedly used her power to put all the books back on the shelves while I went to the door. Delmar was indeed here, and he was waiting outside t
Amira POV . . "Delmar, I...I am just here. I won't leave!" I told him as I tapped his shoulder and tried to step back, but his hug was tight, and he was trying to catch my lips. "I miss you, my darling!" Before I could stop him, his lips had already sealed mine. However, the feelings were not the same. I felt my lips burning, and I was suffocating. I tried to suppress it, but the more I did, the more I felt I was drowning. Until I did my best to be released from his tight wrap. "Delmar, I am sorry. I just had a headache now. I drank too much last night!" I saw something in his eyes, but I couldn't put a name to it. He looked still upset and disappointed. "Alright! I will give you time to rest. I will come back this afternoon. No! Tomorrow! I will visit you tomorrow!" He said with a stern face. I was pretty sure he didn't like my reaction to the kiss he just did. "Okay, Delmar. See you tomorrow!" I just told him. When he left, I dropped myself to the floor. I felt weak
Amira POV . . How stupid I was. I let that happen. I slept with Alpha Adam last night. I was no longer drunk. I was sober. But I still did a tremendous act, betraying my mate. How stupid could I get? I scolded myself as I paced back and forth in my room. Ayesha still had no idea that I was already home. 'What will I do now? Did Delmar feel my betrayal? Did he feel my unfaithfulness?' I bit my thumb. A mannerism I had since I was a kid every time I was anxious or even scared. I shvt my eyes, trying to think whether to tell Delmar about it or not. However, instead of imagining Delmar's face, Adam's annoyingly good-looking feature last night flashbacked in my mind. The way he caressed me. The way he moaned my name. The way he claimed me. The way he called me his love. The way he stared at me dotingly. They all melted in my mind and stayed in my heart. 'Amira, you are mine and mine only!' I could still remember how he claimed me with possessiveness. It tickled my heart. It gav
Adam POV . . I willed Jasmine to come here. In the meantime, I had no idea where Jasmine's loyalty lay. Sometimes, she looked different. She was someone who could be trusted in small matters. Other times, she was confusing. Her personality had changed a lot since the time I stripped her of her title as the future Luna of the Blood Moon Pack. Jasmine obeyed at once when I told her what to do. She didn't say anything nor ask for any condition for her little sacrifice. She performed the task well. I knew that my nanny for years was scolding Amira in the dining room. With my wolf hearing, I could hear her clearly. A smile crept on my lips on how Myhesni protected and fought for me. She was indeed my mom outside of the womb. I knew that Jasmine heard them, too. I told Jasmine to bring my suit now, at three in the morning, which was very unusual for me. I commanded her to stay in my room for at least 30 minutes or less. When the time was up, I deliberately knocked the books on my
Amira POV . . He brought me to his villa. I had been here once before. I heard he had three omegas, serving him. One was taking care of his meals and groceries. One was cleaning his place and gardening. The last one was taking care of his clothes and some appointments or schedules. I glanced around, still familiarizing myself with the choice of colors he used. 'Not bad, but it's not his personality!' I murmured, uttering inwardly. He brought me here to speak about that bar incident. But he also let me wait for him in the living room. I ambled to the stairs, lifting my head on the second floor, where he went about thirty minutes ago. I took a deep sigh, counting the ticking of the clock on the wall. 'One, two, three!' It was now three in the morning, and here I was still awake and in another place. Ayesha, Demeter, and Orora were being taken care of by the two betas. I was about to go to the dining room when suddenly, the digital door lock produced a sound. Somebody was coming
Amira POV . . We were teleported by Orora in front of the Blood Moon Packhouse. I was still trying to escape from his grasp when he deliberately held my waist instead. "Try to run away, and you will see how I get angry, Princess Amira!" He whispered in my ear. I flinched when his lips touched my earlobe. I gradually turned my head to see his reaction. I bit my lower lip, controlling myself to punch that sneering face. "I still have an effect on you, haven't I?" "Hmm! Don't be cocky, Alpha Adam. A drunk man did the same thing to me at the bar, and my reaction was the~" "What did you say?" He cut me off with his loud roar. His hold on my waist was too tight, I had to tiptoe and place my hands on his chest. "What are you doing?" I roared back, ignoring the stares we earned from our friends. "Let me go!" "Ahm! I was just wondering if Delmar felt betrayed by this scene!" Demeter had no filter at all. "I can ask him tomorrow if you just let us pass!" This time, Beta Andre
