Chapter 9

Then, Martin turned to flee from the beach.

Meanwhile, I crashed into the sea. Water surrounded me almost immediately.

All I had was one thought—I'd be dying here.

But I felt that something was off the next moment. The water didn't gush into my nose and mouth. Instead, it felt like a pair of large, soft hands that kept caressing my body gently.

The familiar feeling made me shudder instantly.

"Cyrus?"

I could see Cyrus' face starting to take shape in the water. Tentacles appeared around him. They landed on my face and waist before coiling around me tightly.

This was supposed to be a horrifying visage, but I didn't feel any fear when I saw Cyrus' face.

Suddenly, a blood-curdling shriek drifted from above my head. I looked up to see Martin free-falling into the sea.

It appeared that a tentacle had coiled around his waist and was in the midst of dragging him down.

The bright red tuxedo flashed across my eyes. Only then did I realize why it looked so familiar in the first place.
