Chapter 7(Destroyed?)

“Hey, are you ok? don’t be sad” she said concerning.

‘hmm.’ The voice hummed and she turned towards the statue with a wide eye filled with curiousness.

“Is there something to break your curse.” She asked expectantly.

‘I don’t know'

“Huh? How could you not know. Hmm… Well, most of the fairy tales got a kiss as the spell breaker. AHH, don’t tell me you should also be kissed to break your curse” she exclaimed in shock and the voice chuckled.

“Wow your laugh is attractive “ she smiled thinking how attractive he must be in person.

‘Ahem, lady I don’t think kiss will break my curse. But we can try, do you want to help me?’ the voice asked playfully and she blushed.

“Ahh.. Hello Mr. Sculpture, are you kidding me. I don’t kiss anyone and certainly not a sculpture” she said trying to cover her blush. The voice laughed again and her lips smiled unknowingly.

‘Oh.. What about that jerk, have you not kissed him?’ the voice said with some jealousy surging even it wondered why and she looked at the statue confusedly.

“Who are you talking about” She asked and the voice scoffed,

‘The one who broke your heart and caused you to cry till you faint’ it said and she bit her lips trying to calm herself from not to indulge again in those sad hurt feelings.

“I.. I.. how.. how did you know” she asked with a small voice that’s cracking little, hearing her sad voice the voice scolded itself mentally.

‘I saw what he did to you and.. and I felt sorry.. sorry I couldn’t help you’ Mr. Sculpture's voice projected his worries and inability genuinely which made Lily's heart warm.

“It’s ok, it’s all because of my foolishness that I trusted someone I shouldn’t” she said in a small voice accepting her foolishness and stupidity.

‘Hey, sorry.. are you Ok?’ the voice asked with concern.

 “I’m fine, Thank you”

‘I.. I was actually worried about you, seeing you now made me feel relieved’ the voice said and she looked at the statue’s eyes with a strange feeling forming inside her but she overlooked it.

“Wait, See? You mean, you can see me?” she asked changing the topic in shock and realising the talks she just had.

‘Yes, I can see and hear, but can only talk with my heart and strangely it’s happening with you only’ it said with an amusement and she was surprised to hear it.

“Ok, well maybe I became a wonder woman and I think I got some powers” saying she laughed and the statue laughed along with her.

‘So, are you here to start your work for today?’ the voice asked and she shook her head in a no.

“I’m here to quit my Job. I don’t want to work here, in a place where I was fooled and threatened” she said in a dull voice.

‘hmm, that’s right you don’t have to work under such jerk’ the voice was somewhat depressed.

“uh.. How about you and the curse”

‘Umm.. I’m sure my acquaintances probably searching for me and the process to break the curse’ the voice said and she nodded her head in understanding.

“Then I wish you luck, it was nice meeting you Mr. Sculpture. I.. I’ll get going. Bye” she said with dispirited voice.

‘Hmm. Bye, take.. take care’ joylessly the voice also responded, she left the place and started walking out throwing some more glances towards the statue.

She walked towards Robert’s office, hurriedly she took out her resignation letter and placed it on the desk. She walked out faster, despite the weird glances throwed on her from the museum staffs that were entering the building.

She closed her laptop after applying for the job in multiple places and kept it aside, she stretched her arms thinking how her life events were changing and she felt some curse she must have earned in her previous life.

And suddenly her mind hinted the conversation with the statue, she twisted and turned on the bed for almost 3-4 hours on her bed and thought about her conversation with the sculpture. She couldn’t help but think about the curse he said.

‘How is that possible in this world, to get cursed and turn into a sculpture, who is he, why and how he was cursed like this. Will he be able to turn back again into a human being?’ Was the only thing that was all ran inside her head.

Shane who came home after the school noticed his sister who was engrossed in her thoughts. He tiptoed towards her and shouted ‘boo’ near her ears for her to scream in fright and fall down from the bed.

From the floor she looked at her brother who was laughing holding his stomach, she glared at him and tried to get up. He offered his hands to help her to which she slapped his hands.

“Oops, sorry sis. So, what captured your mind that made you not to notice me getting inside the room and coming closer to you” he asked curiously. She shrugged her shoulders and walked out of the room with Shane following her.

“Did you quit the job sis?” he asked expectantly and she nodded her head.

“Wow, great. I have also checked for a part time job and found one job, may be from tomorrow I will start going there” he said cheerfully, hearing that she turned and slapped his arms making him grunt.

“Your only job is to study. Complete your studies and get a decent job. Though I quit the job I got some money to provide for our necessities for 2-3 months and I will get a job before we run out of money” she said sternly and he nodded his head, although he is dissatisfied.

They had their dinner and engrossed themselves in TV programmes when the doorbell rang. Shane quickly got up from the sofa and walked towards the door to check. There stood outside was a tired Steve.

“Hey Steve, what are you doing at this hour?” Shane asked giving him a way to enter the house. Steve walked towards the sofa and sat nearby Lily.

“Hi Steve” Lily looked at him and frowned at his tired face. He looked at her with an exhausted look and slowly lied on the sofa holding his head. He pulled Lily near him, took her hands and placed it on his head.

Looking at their posture, Shane grinned happily and left the place for them to have their alone time. Looking at Steve’s worn out look she started massaging his head and asked him worriedly,

“What happened Steve? You look like a person got hit by a truck” she said to lighten up but he sighed loudly.

“That Robert looked strange today, he has been yelling at everyone at the museum. He even asked us to shut the museum in the afternoon and scheduled all of us some heavy work. We all were not allowed to have our lunch also.” He said with a calm but annoyed tone.

“ahhhh.. well he also made us to shift all the statues from that region, it was a quite heavy load of work” he said and Lily’s mind abruptly went to Mr. Sculpture.

“You moved those statues? What about Mr. Sculpture?” She asked and he looked at her puzzled.

“I.. I mean the statue that appeared suddenly, magically... as you said” She asked hiding her anxiety that is started to spread inside her heart strangely.

“Ahh.. That one, he asked us to destroy it” He said and she jumped out of the sofa standing abruptly with hands covering her mouth.

“WHAT? YOU DESTROYED IT?” She yelled with sudden mournful emotions displayed on her face. Seeing her affected by the news confused him and he sat straight on the sofa.

“No, I didn’t. I was about to… but something came in my mind and I placed it in the store room” he said and she fell onto the sofa releasing her breath. Her actions aroused some suspicions in him.

“Uff… was that mean it’s safe?” She asked hurriedly turning to him with expectancy.

“Yea, but for now. If he sees that I haven’t destroyed it, he might punish me. I don’t know, his behaviour today, it was all focused on it, to destroy that statue.” He finished saying with uncertain expression and she was scared to hear that.
