Taste Like Mine

“On our way to the hospital. Fuck, I knew this would be complicated.” He swiped his hand over his face. “We’re both alive for the same reason, Anna. For the same goddamn reason.”

Anna’s head began spinning like crazy. Unable to keep herself standing anymore, she returned to her position in the bed, her hands holding her head tightly as she tried to think straight. But each time, her thoughts kept running wild and she knew that if it continued, she might pass out from high blood pressure. The shock was way too much for her—more than she could have imagined.

“Are you okay?” He strode to the bedside table where a jug and glass of water lay. Pouring a decent amount of water into the glass, he handed it over to her. “Here. Have some water.”

With shaky palms, Anna took the glass from him and gulped down the contents in one go, her sight becoming more prominent.
