Who Are You?

The click click of a twenty-year-old clock was the only sound that echoed as Anna stepped into the Cooper mansion. She looked around the living room, her eyes scanning across in search of a maid, anyone at all. But the only sound that filled the air was from the old clock that her father adored.

With a frown settled on her face, she began climbing the stairs that led to her father’s room, cautiously looking around with each step that she took. It was suspicious, really suspicious how the house was quiet for the first time. The servants were always around, roaming everywhere in a hurry to clean the house before the owners arrived.

But now, it was like it had been abandoned for weeks and if it wasn’t for the security guards at the door, she would have come to a depressing conclusion that the Coopers moved elsewhere.

A shriek left her lips when she saw a maid suddenly popping out of nowhere when she rounded a hallway. She placed her hand on her thumping chest and sighed in relief.
