In hindsight, jumping into the pool after Anna was the worst decision Caspian made. He thought as he stared at the white spotless ceiling in the presidential hospital room that he was in.

Fuck, he should have let her drown or perhaps wait until help came but he did the thing he hadn’t done for more than a decade. He got into a swimming pool. For her.

He should’ve let her be instead of getting into the water and letting the memories he’d buried in his heart resurface again, this time even more vivid than the others. But at that moment, he’d thought of nothing else but his wife, underwater, fighting for survival and he’d done what came into his mind first. In that moment, his mind betrayed him, for he knew even if he couldn't admit it to himself, that she was and would always be his greatest weakness.
