Andrew didn't miss the fleeting emotion on Margot's face. His expression remained cold and stern, but his tone softened a bit. "I forgot that you were only a few years old when you went to the orphanage. You probably don't know much about your mother."

Margot stared at him intently. "What are you implying?"

Andrew shrugged. "It's nothing. I just want to tell you that we should let bygones be bygones. There's no use digging into the past. Why not stay here instead? I'll give you a better life."

However, Margot still wore a doubtful look. "Really? Stop lying to me. You couldn't even fulfill such a small request from me."

Andrew sighed. He silently looked at Margot before explaining, "After what happened three days ago, I believe you should have noticed by now. The peace between the Zimmerman family and the Lane family is all an act.

"I can't intervene in the Lane family's affairs. Otherwise, even that superficial peace won't be maintained, and the two families may end up at war."
