Blue held a bowl of crispy potatoe-chips while Jane and Alice were on their phones, chatting.
“I’m fine, I’m just here lounging and relaxing with my friends. What about you?” Hazel asked over the phone.
“Yes, Alice is here as well.” She replied.
“Is that my boyfriend?” Alice interjected, giggling towards her.
“Really? Okay, we’ll be there!” Hazel ended the call with a blush and faced her friends. “Guess what?”
“What is it?” Jane pulled closer, interested.
“The guys are having a house party.”
“House party? Others cheered.
“And guess what?” Hazel added. “They’re bringing strippers.”
“What?!” Alice, Blue and Jane couldn’t believe that. It was a weekend house party the guys held for themselves instead of going clubbing.
With the mp3 speakers booming hip hop ‘Stay with me’ by Rihanna. The guys were dancing along with the strippers, whom were on nothing but net bras and g-string pants. Jane and Blue were having fun as well. Hazel was sipping on a bottle. She was having fun with Noah, at a corner. Everyone was having an enjoyable time except Alice. She wanted to speak with Adam about their previous argument. It’s been two weeks now, and he hasn’t said a word. While standing there, he didn’t even for once look at her.
Adam was busy with a stripper who wore a pink gang mask on. Everything on her was pink, including her wig, artificial nails, net dress with nothing underneath. Watching the both of them, she seemed to be so good at it and probably be their leader.
‘Why would he take her for himself?’ Alice pondered with a sour face.
Unsettled, she went to her friends, but they asked her to meet Adam. Since she hasn’t settled their last fight. The stripped held onto Adam’s face, sitting on his with her legs folded around his waist. Pissed snout for the whole thing, Alice walked behind Adam and gave him a hit slap to the back of his head.
‘Thwack!’
He jerked up at once to look back at who it was. The stopper pulled to her feet at once, shocked by Alice’s reaction.
“Are you mad or something?” She shrieked at him. “How dare you?!”
Everyone stopped for a moment.
“What the... Did you just slap me?” Adam fired at her, stunned.
“Yes, and I’ll do it again.” She replied before he completed the word. “How dare you choose a prostitute over me?”
“Hey, hold it there!” The stripper stopped Alice at once. I’m not a prostitute, I am a stripper, you bitch! She cursed and raised a hand up. “Girls let’s go.”
“I invited you to spend the night.” Roman begged her. “Don’t go.”
“Girls!” the stripper hissed and others followed her, petrified.
“You fucking slapped me?” Adam faced Alice, getting red in his face like a ripe tomato. “I fucking hate you, bloody bitch... ”
“You allowed a common slut! A prostitute who has less than $20 in her account to insult me. Despite everything I have done and gone through with you! Do you have any life for me at all?”
Adam held his dark shoulder-length hair, puzzled. A sigh of frustration heaved out of him with a flow of current burning through him.
“Am I not enough for you? “Alice went on and Adam faced her. They stared into each other’s eyes with fierce rage.
“You know what? I’m done with you. I’m fucking calling it quits with you, Alice!
“You dare not!” She spat back at him.
“You heard me, it’s over!” He stormed out with boiling hatred.
“You’re the only guy I’ve ever known, Adam. I love you!” Alice cried out in rage. “I love you so much, and what I ask is your genuine love in return. Is that too much to ask, you sucking moron?”
Alice beat him on the chest, hitting him hard with all her might. She pushed Adam to the wall, almost making him fall. About to hit him again, Blue and Jane held Alice back.
“You want to dump me after all the time we’ve spent? After dating for six years and supporting you in time of need. Just because your parents are wealthy, do you think you have such power over me?! This relationship is a do or die! You can never leave me!” Alice thundered. “You son of a bitch! Is it because you’re in your final year now? Why do are you always embarrassed by my presence? Why do you hate me so much?!”
About to beat her, Felix held Adam back. He balled his fist with deep breath to calm himself. If no one was there, it might be pretty bloody. The room turned noisy. There were no words to calm them down. Adam didn’t wait for any more of Alice's complaints or accusations. He grabbed his phone from the couch and dashed his into the room, with Noah and Roman following him like mad dogs. Adam’s feet made trampling noises. His anger shook the entire building to the bones. Jane, Blue, Hazel, and Alice just had to leave. It was so embarrassing.
It’s been an awkward drive. None of them could utter a word. When they got home, Alice was the first to find a seat. Alice grabbed a seat, feeling like the odd one in the room. There was nothing left of her happiness. Everything was gone. It wasn’t anger that took it. Or pride. Alice knew she was right to hold her stand. She felt nothing at all, but her face said otherwise. Alice was shaking, unable to bear a sound mind for what had just happened. She’d hoped that the house party would be a way to get close to Adam for a reconnection. That stripper ruined it.
Alice’s mind wasn’t at rest. Her eyes clouded while she sniffled, holding back the tears. Trying to be strong despite everything. A gasp of air escaped her as she could not get out of the troublesome thought. Her fingers were still shivering from the fight. How Adam gasped at those last words… ‘it’s over between us!’ It pissed her off even more. ‘Why do I have to be the one cheated on? Why me?’ she cried mentally.
“Now you see the reason for my constant warning?” Blue broke the silence. “You can’t continue to act on your own emotions at every given opportunity. The strippers were just doing their jobs, no strings attached!”
“Exactly!” Hazel intervened. “You haven’t settled your last argument with him, yet you added fuel to the burning fire. To make things worse, you slapped your boyfriend right in the presence of his friends. Don’t you know his friends are more like his board members? They’re to determine the outcome of this! Noah rushed to meet Adam without telling me goodbye... He was equally annoyed, all because of you. You acted terrible today, Ally, and I’m disappointed!”
Alice sniffled quietly, with tears threatening to spill from her eyes. “I’m sorry.” She mumbled incoherently through her hands and choked on her painful sobs.
“You better stop crying. It’s not worth it.” Jane hissed. “You might be wrong for slapping him, but that’s not enough reason fir him to acting up like that. He’s lucky his fingers didn’t touch you. I’d have forced some sense into him. He kept huffing and puffing as everyone was trying to restrain him. Adam is also hot tempered, and he has no clue what true love or understanding means.”
Hazel and Blue went as quiet as stone, petrified. They never imagined Jane would back Alice up for what everyone knew was wrong.
“Apart from that, that dude is short, rude and not that attractive.” Jane pointed out." I wonder what you see in Adam, Ally! Love is really blind, else! Would he be acting up like that if one of his friends slapped him? Adam would have regretted it if he’d laid a hand on Alice. He would understand what power a woman holds!"
“Birds of a feather! You better speak sense into her rather than misleading her.” Hazel advised.
“Was Adam right as well? That stripper almost kissed him in front of me. “More tears pickled down her eyes as she cried bitterly. Breaking down on the cold marble floor. “You all do not know how much I love Adam! He left me for a prostitute!”
“And you slapped him!” Hazel fired at her in a stunned voice.
“What if no one was there today, and he beat you blue-black? Would you have escaped it? Would you still be saying that you love him? And you, Jane!” Blue muttered, her eyes moved back and forth between Alice and Jane.
“Yes, what’s it?” Jane faced her.
“Your attitude, it’s getting out of hand!”
“Am I the one who slapped someone?” Jane drawled with a mocking twist to her lips. “Better talk to her, not me.”
Jane unzipped her purse and you’re a pack of bubblegum into her mouth. “See you later, guys. I’m tried, I’ll be upstairs.”
Five Months Later... Alice was alone in the room studying for an upcoming test, when a thought came to mind. It was about Adam. How he would always defend her against bullies in highschool. Being her Fairytale highschool boyfriend, she had always wanted that to continue. It was a dream come true when she got a scholarship and an admission to study at Columbia University. The same school as him. Even though she’d choose it. It was their dream university. But right now, Adam seems to be a different person. He won’t even reply to her messages. It’s funny how destiny plays its tricks on humans.Off minded, Alice sighed coldly and a wet spot appeared on the page she was staring at.“Don’t tell me you’re still on Adam’s issue. What are you thinking?”“No... Nothing, I’m not thinking. Something just entered my eyes.” Alice replied coolly, wiping the corner of her eyes with her index finger.“Just take care and move on from the past if that’s what will make you happy, okay?” Jane advised. “S
It took the girls almost half an hour to complete their make up. Blue was hesitant to put on her new dress. It was from the shopping Hazel did for them a week before. The dress was a purple short, wrap dress with transparent stones, embroidery on it. The purple platform shoe worn beneath the shirt dress was five-feet high. She stared at others, helping them with their dressing. Jane wore a light-pink dress of the same style and Alice wore a sky-blue short dress. The same designer made their outfits. Gazing at her reflecting over the mirror, Blue adjusted her sleekly black hair and fixed to her earlobes, a pair of diamond, dangling earrings. The girls were dressing and admiring themselves in the mirror when a knock on the door brought them into reality. It was Felix and Roman. They came to pick the girls up for Hazel’s birthday party. It was already getting dark, though. It was 7:30 p.m, just thirty minutes before the party begins. Hazel spent the night at home with her mum, so her fri
“That night, I had some money on me. It was for an assignment. A contract for the new company I am working with. I didn’t want to spend the money. I expected that in the matter of a few days, they would make more money to replace that, but it didn’t happen. Right now, my bosses are asking for the money.”I felt a breath close to me and turned back. One of my bodyguards, Calvin, guiding the main entrance, was standing right next to me.“What are you still doing here?” I raised a voice at him with blazing eyes. “Find something doing! Just leave!”“Sorry ma’am.” Calvin replied with his head bowed. He was another annoying worker like Oaklyn.“She said leave! It’s better you go in and shut the door!” Chris intervened. “Stop embarrassing me like this, especially in front of your workers. What kind of nonsense?!” He turned his anger at me as Calvin left.I just watched him silently with a glare.“Well, that’s not why I’m here.” Chris’s voice dropped from the look on my face.“As I was sayin
Back to my room, I closed the door and walked straight to my extra-sized bed. My legs shouldn’t hurt taking off my boots, but from so much dancing, it did. Pulling out a drawer’s chest from beneath my wardrobe, I brought out a box of facial wipes. Taking out my makeup, not sleeping with it. I hate the uncomfortable feelings that comes with having it on for too long. Wiping out my red, chapped lips, the door opened. Without looking back, I knew it was Hazel. She strolled straight to my bed, sitting right next to me. With the full smile brimming through her cherry-red lips, one could tell how happy she was without using words.“My dearest mum!” Hazel started, and I turned to her, swabbing my raised eyebrows.“Thank you for giving me the best birthday party ever!”I chuckled at her excitement in reply.“Thank you, mum!” she hugged me at once, tightly. Hazel lives doing this, especially when she’s elated.“You’re welcome, my dear.” As my arms wrapped against her slim body, I felt the text
As I walked to my workplace, I contemplated about what happened on Saturday night and about meeting with Adam today. My mind raced at the thought of meeting him. I dressed in a velvet red miniskirt, jacket, and a black snakeskin, matching heels, and handbag. It fitted the nude makeup on me more with the deep velvet red lipstick on my rosy lips. We had only met once. Why do I feel this way? I had a weird fascination for Adam, as my thoughts, since Saturday night were all about him. I just have to tell him to forget about me. It’s awkward dating a guy young enough to date my daughter. Stepping into the company, I met Oaklyn and others at the reception. “Good morning,” I greeted. “Good morning, ma.” They replied while standing up with a bow. “Welcome ma.” “Thank you. You guys are looking good.” They gazed back, then at each other, without replying. “Didn’t you hear what I just said? I said you’re looking really nice.” I repeated, focusing on my phone. He just sent me a message that
“You’re talking to me directly, so I’m assuming you don’t have any problem with Beckett's property. “I said over the IP office phone. Oaklyn was standing beside me while I was making a call with a customer. Trying to convince him to buy our properties. You’re already here. The first one is 42. We still have that if 92 as well. I pointed out. We are talking about premium, right?‘Ring-Ring-Ring!’ My vibrating phone on the table caught my attention.‘Ring-Ring-Ring!’ “Please, give me a moment to call you back.” I said over the phone to the customer. “Its just for a moment and I’ll be back shortly.” I ended the call immediately and answered my mobile phone. It was Adam.“Hello.”“Hello Eve, I just drove into your company.”My heart sank at his voice over the phone. It’s his first time calling.“Oh, really?” I cleared my throat, trying not to stammer. Wait, why would I stammer? “Okay.. I’ll infirm someone to direct you upstairs.” I cut the call and turned to Oaklyn, whom like a statue,
“With who?” Somidah asked when I told her. “Didn’t you hear what I’ve been saying?”“I did. I just want you to repeat the words.” She clarified, as if my words were unfit for the ears. I nodded my head listlessly. “I didn’t open up to you for you to judge me.”“Oh, come on Evelyn.” She prompted softly. “I’m not judging you. You know I can never do that. I am just a little sceptical because I know you like nothing that is unfit and breeds disrespect.”“I can’t even say how I ended up in this situation. This boy ticks the right boxes. My mind is always on him whenever he’s not around, and I’m unsettled in his presence. All he wants is to spend time with me. It might be too early to conclude, but he takes me as a priority. Most of all, he makes me laugh.”Somidah raised an eyebrow as if struck by my words. “Adam gives me listening ears. He’s made it so easy to love him.” “It might be true but, calm down.” She cut into my words. “I want to ask you some questions and don’t dare lie to
This page is rated 18.Opening one of my coded fridges, a hand grabbed me from behind. I almost had a heart attack from the sudden touch until I looked over my shoulder and caught the glimpse of him, stroking his fingers in my hair. It was Adam. As I turned back to him, his long hair, well styled in a bun, filled my nostrils with its scents and my body, untouched for so long, throbbed and tingled. Yet, I still struggled to escape from the exquisite torment of his visiting lips that first fluctuated around my cheekbones. His tangling fingers that settled at the small of my back made me hold unto him. The of the chilly, opened fridge kissed my back while he leaned closer to me. His hand snaked front of the side of my arm to close the fridge's door. And as he leaned closer, I placed my back in the fridge with my gaze fixed on his. A little lower than mine. I felt a surge of affection. So strong that the feeling brought a lump in my throat. "I... I need to get a drink." I excused mysel
I was behind the wheels when I reduced the speed and allowed Somidah to zoom past me. She was so excited about winning the car race that, she stopped in front of my apartment and came down to welcome me. “I won!” she screeched, raising both hands in the air in excitement. “Yeah, yeah! How did you do that?” I pointed, faking a surprise. “Are you taking driving classes again?” “No, it’s just an improvement.” She joked, and I blushed at her words. “Well, I’m impressed. Let’s go in.” I told her as we drove into my compound, stopping the cars in front of my house instead of the parking lot. Excited, we got in and I walked towards one of the inbuilt fridge, getting a bottle of fruit juice for her. I closed the fridge and a thought of Adam closing it behind me came up. Shaking off the pestering thoughts from my mind, I closed my eyes to a sudden headache that hit me hard. “Evelyn!” Somidah called, throwing her handbag on the middle table. Her smile dropped while watching me from the di
I was typing a document when three soft knocks came on the door. “Yes, come in.” I replied, and the door opened. It was Oaklyn. She had a navvy blue, A-line shirt and a white elbow-sleeved shirt on with her hair packed in a low ponytail. She walked up to me, placing a load of file on my desk. “Go through this, ma. And I also want to remind you about the meeting at 11:00 a.m.” “Ugh!” I stopped typing, raising my head up a bit. A pain stuck through me, hearing her last words. “What is it, ma’am? Is everything alright?” She pulled closer to me in concern, and I paused a hand up to stop her. She might end up hugging me if I don’t. I dropped my hand from my forehead and rolled my eyes at her, disgustingly. “I’m fine, okay?” my lips quirked to the side as I ordered. “I won’t be able to attend that meeting. Tell Mr. Desmond to attend to the customers and... I don’t want any guests as well. Cancel my appointments for today and tomorrow.” “Okay, ma.” With folded lips, bowed in response
Please guys, for Adam's sake. Listen to 'treat you better' by Shawn Mendez as you read this chapter. ***Back home, it was already midnight. Adam took off his Patek Philippe silver wristwatch and thew it on the table but it fell against the marble floor. It gave a disturbing creak. He walked up to it and it’s case, crystal and crown was already broken. Heated, a hand scratched his head, thinking of how she smile at Luke’s presence. 'Was it jealousy? Did I overreact? No, I didn’t! I am a man and she should respect me. That was not a coincidence.' “All ladies are freaking the same!” He spat in anger. “Her ex visited us in the restaurant she picked. Am I a child? Eve freaking embarrassed me in public, as if I was nothing. I feel like a fool to have thought she want me.” Adam hissed out loud, pissed at himself. He fell back to a chair beside the bed to think. ‘Why do I have to break my sim card? Maybe I overreacted a little. I do not know what her phone number is.’ Adam tapped his fe
Please, guys. Listen to 'let me down slowly' by Alec Benjamin as you read this chapter. Who does the song fit? Adam or Evelyn?***Luke pulled on my cheek, stroking it like a baby, and I tilted to the side to get off his touch."I did not know I would find you here today! And we're both wearing black!" He pointed out. "My mind told me earlier that if I meet you here, you'll be in a black dress and heels. I guess I wasn't wrong, after all! Anyway, you look so chic... Um." He paused for a while, looking at Adam, then at me. "Is this your son?" "He's my nephew!" A wide, fake smile followed my reply. Looking at Adam, he firmly folded his lips, painfully. I could see anger burning through his eyes, but he held it in. Adam was man enough not to react. Somewhere in me prayed he wouldn't. "Aw! What a cute boy?" Luke tickled with his clean shaved beard that was grown enough to feel. He pinched on it gently, fingerings his beard and crackling in laughter like a fool that he was. Some other c
“When a man is at peace, they go wherever their heart is. If you give Adam peace of mind, he would cherish you, but you are always bragging. I don’t want to lose my boyfriend. I don’t want to lose my boyfriend!” Hazel mimicked with raised shoulders, showing how proud Alice used to be. “Haven’t you lost your boyfriend now?”“Lose him? I would not lose him in Jesus’ name! Why are you talking like this?” Alice asked as her eyes begged Hazel for answers. “Have I lost him? Is he dating someone else now? Is Adam totally over me already?” She panicked while Jane calmly watched the both of them with folded arms on the bed. She was a grave, not interrupting their talk. “I don’t know... You think he won’t date someone else? The guy you said was cheating on you when you were together, he’s a free man now. I don’t know who he’s dating, however.” Hazel assured. “But I’m sure that he already has someone he’s into.” “Please, when talking to Noah, tell him I’m a changed person.” Alice pleaded with
The door knob pushed and pull in a flash and I gasped up at once. It’s a good thing Adam locked the door after he entered. ‘Knock-Knock-Knock!!’“What’s that... Whose there?” I breathed, pushing Adam up so he leaves. I can’t believe it settled Adam right now. It did not even move him. “Get up!” I whispered, pushing him up with all the strength left in me, but he wouldn’t even move.“There’s someone at the door. Leave!”“What?” He replied, and I cupped his mouth. “What are you so scared of?” ‘Knock-Knock-Knock!!!’“Who’s that?” “It’s me, mum!” I heard and my heart dropped at once. “It’s Hazel... She shouldn’t know.” Adam made very firm eye contact while I glared at him. “Just hide in my restroom for a moment!” I demanded with serious, unblinking eyes. ‘Knock-Knock-Knock!!!’ The knocks came again. Louder and faster this time. She must be in a hurry. “Give me a moment!” I yelled at her and turned back to Adam with pleading eyes. “Are you saying we should keep this a secret?” A
