Jenna POV Soaking in the tub was what I had needed. I washed my hair then added conditioner. I relaxed in the warm water letting all the tension leave my body. I had so much to consider. What I wanted to say to the Rogue King. What was going to happen with Adam and me. I wanted it to work for us, but I had things I needed to work out before I could consider that as an option. And maybe it never would be an option for us. As the water started to cool off, I suddenly realized I was exhausted. I had so desperately wanted to get moving on with life, that I did not take into account just how much the effort would drain my strength. Sighing I call to Adam. He comes to the door right away walking in to check on me, “What do you need?” he asks me. “Can you help me out of the tub? I suddenly have no strength left to get out on my own,” I say to him with a sheepish grin. “So, the doctor is admitting she is tired, is she?” he teases me once again
Jenna POV Josie was Eric’s brother? They had not acted that close at work. In fact, they acted like they disliked one another. Although it would not seem like much was acting. “You do not seem to like one another,” I voice my opinion. “That’s your big concern?” Josie sneers at me. As I am talking to her the warriors pounce on her to take her into custody. She makes no move to fight them, in fact, she allows them to cuff her. Almost as if this was her choice. “Do you know what your brother did to my mate?” Adam growls. “Were you a part of it?” he adds. Josie looks at us both confused before a light of recognition shines on her face. “He didn’t try to get you to heal him, did he?” she asked as if she did not believe it was possible. “Like you did not know,” Sam says to her. She pauses for a moment to look at Sam. You can see regret on her face, but no real explanation for why. “And why do you have no scent?” Sam asks almost as if it was
Eric POV How dare they ignore my demands? How dare he take her from me? I would get out of here and soon, if Josie has anything to do with it. And then I would take Jenna and she would heal both of us before I mark and mate her. To sit here and deny any connection to me. How dare she? I knew she was lying. I felt a connection to her with all the healing she had already done. I had been able to dip into some of her memories while she was healing me. All was not perfect with her and Alpha Adam. I would play on that the next time I saw her. She would be back. She would not be able to stay away. She will want to know more about Josie and my relationship. She might even feel some jealousy around it. If she only knew who Josie was to me, she would not be jealous. I continued to yell for them to bring Josie to me. They continued to walk away. As I heard the dungeon doors close, I sat there in shock. They had managed to ignore my comman
Jenna POV I gasp as Josie comments on Eric’s desire to have me since he was a child. With everything that had happened and the trauma to my body, I had thought a lot of that was made up in my mind. Some kind of fairy tale to ease the burden of what I was being forced to endure. Adam looks at me concerned as I take a step closer to Josie’s cell. “How do you know that?” I ask her. “How do you think Jenna? I have heard about it since he met you when he was a young boy,” she sneers at me. “You made him think he could be normal when normal was never in his future,” she says almost sadly. If it was possible for Josie to appear sad at all. “I watched him pine for you for years. Even when he met his own fated mate. He rejected her and then killed her in the off chance he would have you for himself,” she says like she is telling a story of someone she does not know. “And then Adam had to show up at that summer ball. He had hoped Adam had ruined h
Jenna POV A day later Adam and I were walking into my parents Pack house. We had brought our own warriors with us for protection. We left both Sam and Jack at the Red Pine Pack to keep guard over the Rogue King and his sister. They had not calmed down since we saw them yesterday. Guards were run ragged trying to ignore the continuous screams coming from Josie and the demands coming from the Rogue King. Although both were shackled in silver and had been administered wolfsbane, they were giving our guards and warriors a run for their money. I knew they would be strong, but I had underestimated just how strong they were. My mother comes over hugging me immediately, followed by my father. Before we can say anything, we are being led to the Alpha’s private quarters. Refreshments are waiting for us and my mother will not allow us to get down to business until we eat something. Adam and I pick away at our food, our minds consumed with what waits for us when
Jenna POV “Give us the journal,” I say coldly to my father. To hold back such relevant information was wrong regardless of how far fetched it sounded. “Why, so you can look for a loophole that will save you? Jenna, the answer is right in front of your face,” my father sneers at me. I am taken aback at his attitude toward me. I have never seen this side of my father and it is starting to scare me. “Alpha Gordon, we need the journal,” Adam reiterates supporting my effort. I was not questioning him. I simply want to read everything that is related to this. “Give them the book, Gordon,” my mother says softly. I am confused as to why she sounds almost saddened by the sharing of the information. My mother looks at me with sincerity in her eyes, “We did what we felt was best for you all these years Jenna,” she murmurs to me. “What does that mean?” I ask her wanting to understand what she meant. My father stands up annoyed that she is speaking
Adam POV We made it back to the Red Pine Pack in record time. We had a lot left to discuss but Jenna scurried off to study the journal. I went looking for Sam and Jack. I found Jack on the training grounds with Sam. “Why aren’t you keeping watch of the two of them?” I demand of both of them. I was pissed off to see them here wondering who was keeping watch. “We are not immune to their commands, Adam; I doubt you will be. We have everyone outside training and have left them alone in their cells,” Sam says with disgust. “The power behind them is incredible,” Jack murmurs as he watches his warriors training. “I do not know how we fight them, but we need to figure out something soon. We cannot keep them alive,” Sam says with finality. I am guessing Sam has made his mind up with regards to his mate. “Are you sure?” I ask Sam. He understands what I am asking. “You want me to keep something that is evil alive so I can have a mate?” he smirks.
Adam POV “What? No!” I exclaim to Jenna. I see a hurt look cross her face and she turns away from me. I grab her arm, turning her back. “Jenna, I do not want you to accept me because you have to; I want us to happen because we both want it,” I reply to her. She looks at me with frustration. “There has to be another way,” I say to her. She shakes her head pulling her arm away from me. She stands and starts to pace. “Adam, what if this is what I want?” she asks me turning back to me. “I would struggle to believe it,” I reply to her honestly. “Well, that’s a damn shame,” she says stomping to her bedroom and slamming the door. I cringe as the door slams. I sit there for a couple minutes wondering what I am supposed to do. Could she have changed her mind? But when? I needed to know what else was in the journal. Moving toward her door I tap on it to see if she would let me in. Hearing nothing, I knock a little louder. I am startled when
Six months later ... Jenna POV I sat feeding my pup, Grace. She was the most beautiful little girl I had ever seen, but I am sure I am quite bias I think with a chuckle. She had dark hair like her daddy, and silver eyes like me with her angelic features. Adam was an amazing daddy to his little girl. He got up with me for all feedings and took her to his office often to give me a break. There was no me and him; it was one hundred percent us. I loved him more for that. Grace had been born two months ago. I do not know how, but I was blessed with a very quick labour and delivery. I suspect it had something to do with Gracie’s impatience at wanting to be born. She was ready to see this world and meet her family. We knew from the moment of her birth she had a strong aura. You knew you were in the presence of someone special. Her eyes were bright, and she has been aware of her surroundings since the first moment she opened them. It would n
Adam POV As I come through the forest and come upon the scene in front of me my heart sinks as I see yet another ring of rogues surrounding Jenna. I can see the two warriors in front of her being destroyed as Tim makes his way towards her. I roar my anger as Jake pounces forward destroying all rogues in his path. My only goal is to get to Jenna. When I heard from her it was Elder Fred who had betrayed us, I was filled with rage. I wanted to destroy him myself, but I see someone beat me to it as his insides are spilled out on the ground in front of Jenna. I know, from Jenna, that the Pack members present are unable to shift as they were affected by the wolfsbane. It also explains why they could not communicate with me. Fortunately, the rogues were not bothering with them, and I could see the women were pushing the children away as best they could without drawing attention to themselves. I make my way through the crowd of rogues along with th
Adam POV It felt great to have Sam back again. I am sure there is some story behind his mystery woman, but that would be a conversation over a cold beer once we cleared out the rogue situation. I shifted midstride, destroying my clothes but there was no time to stop and change. Our warriors were updating us that the numbers of rogues entering our territory were higher than we had seen before. They might be an army, but they were not a healed army so there would be disorganization amongst them. They would fight for so long before their own goals would shadow what the current head rogue wanted. And it concerned me that the head rogue could be Tim. He knew more about Jenna because of his connection to the Rogue King and Wendy. Clearly it put him at an advantage we would have preferred he not have. As I broke through the clearing, Sam and Jack were close on my heels. I could not believe what I saw. There were at least thirty rogues fighting o
Adam POV Jenna’s father was brought back into the courtroom. Her mother, Luna Ashley, was also brought in for her husband’s sentencing. She sits directly behind Alpha Gordon, with warriors on either side of her. Everyone was required to stand as the judges returned to their seats. They looked solemnly at those of us present. “There is no winning side in today’s proceedings,” the judge starts to say. “There is only room for justice. The atrocities committed by Alpha Gordon Frasier in the case of trying to kidnap his own daughter, in return assisting with the kidnapping of someone else, plus supporting the development of a rogue army leave us little wiggle room for sentencing anything less than life in prison,” the judge concludes his spiel. Jenna’s mother screams and the warriors must grab her to keep her from lunging toward the judges. Alpha Gordon slams his fist down on the table, breaking it in half as he stands also threatening the judg
Adam POV Since Jenna’s mother’s revelation that the rogues were coming for us, I have rallied our troops to get them ready for an impending attack. I have tried to reach Sam with no luck. It is unusual that I would not be able to reach him, but I had to assume he was having a good time. He was due back by the end of this week. I would worry if he did not show up then. Jenna’s mother disclosed nothing more than the statements, “I expect they will be here any time now.”. That had been a couple of days ago. Jenna had a lot of time for painstaking self-reflection during this time. Well reflection on her entire life. How parents could treat their daughter as they had was still beyond reproach to me. Jenna was also suffering thinking of Josie. Not lost on us was the fact that Eric tried to become her mate. That reflects how little everyone knew of the deceit of Jenna’s parents and the Rogue King himself. Had they known the truth, they may have avoided a
Jenna POV It had been a couple days since we had incarcerated my father. My mother had arrived with more flair than I had ever noticed before. When she first saw me, she walked over to me standing beside Adam and Jack. I had expected a hug. What I got was a slap in the face. The parking area echoed with the slap against my face. Adam quickly grabbed my mother’s arm breaking it. “How dare you touch my mate?” he yells at her. “Oh please, you did not want her in the beginning and now you expect me to believe you have changed. It is because she is a healer and the strength she brings to your Pack!” she shrieks. I cringe back hating being reminded of our start. And now I have to wonder if my parents ever really cared for me, or did they only like what I brought to the table? “Why did you bother keeping me a secret?” I ask her as she stands there nursing her broken arm. “What?” she asks me confused with my question. “Why didn’t you tell others I had he
Adam POV I could not believe what I was hearing. Like this made some kind of sense to Alpha Gordon. I could feel the tension and heartbreak that Jenna was feeling. I had wrapped my arms around her, feeling her coldness in the dank dungeons. I tried to move her, but she was standing firm. She was not finished with her father. “What do you get in return for turning me and Josie over?” Jenna asks her father. He looks at her confused. “Jenna, you are safe for now. They have Josie,” he says like he has saved her. “That’s just it, I am safe for now, what happens when they need me? Are you going to kidnap me yourself?” she asks her father. “Jenna, you always were so dramatic,” her father hisses. “What is the harm in healing the men and women to help them?” he asks her. We all look at him incredulously. “You want me to heal an army of rogues who want to destroy Packs?” she asks him slowly. It is like he does not see the harm of what he is sa
Adam POV Jenna had taken a seat on the couch. Jack was standing against the wall next to where she sat. And I was sitting behind my desk. I had been advised two warriors were on their way with Tiffany. The door was open in expectation of their arrival. As the warriors entered the Pack house, we could hear Tiffany screaming profanities at the warriors. They clearly were not bothered by her words as they suddenly appeared with her in the doorway. Pushing Tiffany inside she fell to her hands and knees in the middle of my office. As she turned to scowl at the two warriors, I yelled, “Enough!”. She was startled and suddenly looked around the room realizing where she was. A look of fear crossed her face briefly before she smirked at me. She had the audacity to smirk. She stands in front of me, “You called for me, Alpha? Finally, had enough of your Luna?” she taunts. I see Jenna tense out of the corner of my eye, but she does not rise. I can
Jenna POV I try to get away from Adam scrambling on my hands and knees to get to my father. I hated him in this moment, but I did not want him to die. Adam held me back until he was certain the shooter was no longer a threat. He and Jack protected me with their bodies as we hurried to where my father had fallen. I immediately see that my father has a gun shot through the chest. I quickly role him and see that the bullet went through him. I am uncertain what might have been hit with the shot, but it is a good sign that the bullet went through him. I tell Adam so they can start looking to make sure the bullet did not strike anyone in the diner, while I go to work on my father. I do a discreet scan and see that his heart was nicked with the bullet but everything else is fine. I do a quick fix that does not require a lot of my healing efforts. I put my hand over the bullet hole and hold it there while his wolf tries to stop the bleeding. Bein
