CALEB

"Damnit!" I cursed under my breath as my car ran into a wall that fenced a small ranch. I lurched forward and my forehead smashed on the steering wheel and I began to feel dizzy from the hit.

Pain shot out from my bruised lips as I coughed, trying to shake off the dizziness. Juliet's face flashed into my head and I regained full consciousness. I ignited my car again and took a reverse, driving fast but cautiously to my dad's house.

I pushed the door open panting heavily as I barged my way into the living room.

My rapid breathing circulated the room immediately after I stepped in.

“Juliet! Mom!” I yelled, limping around the empty living room. Blood trickled down my forehead but I didn't care a thing about it.

“We’re at the balcony!” I heard my mom’s tense voice and rushed up to the balcony.

As I staggered closer, I caught Juliet seated on a couch in a relaxed posture, a glass of iced strawberry juice placed on her crossed legs.

I paused and stared intently at h

CALEB “What?” I spat out, spinning around in dismay. My mom shrugged and Juliet maintained a straight face. “You’ll do whatever I want, right?” She muttered and I scoffed. “Not Kaitlyn!” I seethed. “You know how much that lady disgusts me.” “Disgust?” Juliet stifled a laugh and Mom shot her a glare that kept her quiet again. “Kaitlyn is the perfect lady that can make you happy, she has been there for you, patiently waiting for your love,” my mom tried to make me reason, but I didn’t want to get caught in her web again. I can agree to avoid Rosy forever, but I can’t marry Kaitlyn. “I never asked her to wait!” I snapped. “She’s a nice girl.” “That was what you said about Rosy too,” I admonished, crashing down her defense. “No…no…that wasn’t what I meant, I thought Rosy was a good girl, besides she was just some random friend that came around frequently to see you secretly. I never imagined Rosy marrying you, I was…I was…they are different things, okay,” she stuttered

ROSY I paced around my office wondering why I was feeling tensed up. “I and Kaitlyn are getting married. So, stay away from my woman!” Caleb’s voice kept repeating itself in my head I felt I might go crazy if it didn’t stop. I groaned in anger and hit my head severally with my clenched fist. I winced in annoyance and slumped dejectedly into the swivel chair behind me. That jerk, does he think getting engaged to Kaitlyn will make me weak? He must be stupid to think of such an idea, nothing will ever shatter me, not even my past. The piles of work on the desk made my head swirl in circles. The creaking of the door made me raise my head from the desk, I sighed when Casper sauntered to the front of my desk, leaning closer that I felt he was trying to steal a kiss from my lips. I pushed my chair back as I furrowed my brows in suspicion. He got his lost senses back and pulled back, licking his parched lips. “What do you want?” I asked, glaring coldly at him. He cleared hi

CALEBA bent-over figure got me curious when I trotted into the cemetery. I slowly walked noiselessly close to Sherry’s grave, my eyes were still on the figure who seemed to be searching for something on the tombstones lined up before her–the hair pointed out that she was a lady. Her suspicious movements got my attention drifting away from Sherry’s grave. I stood still, the blue flower I brought still wrapped in my hands as my eyes followed her. She finally strengthened up and rubbed her back, groaning in pain.Is she a mental patient?I have heard rumors that mentally ill people litter around cemeteries, stealing anything they get their hands on.Perhaps, she’s searching for a box of chocolate dropped on a tombstone by a relative of one of the deceased.I glanced at the flower in my hand and then back at her. She wouldn’t want a flower, will she?I heard her sigh and scratch her neck, a mild wind blew up her hair and her face came into view.My throat knotted when I realize

ROSY I stared at my pale face in the mirror, still bothering if I had spilled any of my weaknesses before Caleb last night. I caught the flu as a result of the rain and now I’m forced to get tucked in my bed all day. I sighed and brushed my disheveled hair, taking a second glance at the clock dangling on my wall. It is past 3, I can still make it to the company and reduce some of the workload piled up on my desk. The moments of yesterday came flashing back into my head and the brush stopped working on my hair. The request I made to Sherry echoed countlessly in my head. “Sherry, help me to take revenge on your dad. I don’t ever want to forgive him, I want him to beg for mercy till his last breath, you’ll help me, Sherry, won’t you?” I whispered and inhaled, hoping Sherry would give me the courage and bitterness that I needed to bring Caleb Thompson down. I will not only destroy his finances, but I will ruin him emotionally, he will run madly for me but will never catch m

ROSYThe deadly glare I shot at Mr. Hamilton’s secretary made the raven-haired young man slam his mouth shut. I flounced my way to Mr. Hamilton’s office, roughly pushing the man out of my way when I got to the closed door.Mr. Hamilton looked up from the files before him and furrowed his brows on seeing me fume in front of him.“What are you doing here?” He asked.I scoffed and slumped into the chair, combing my disheveled hair with my fingers.“You know, don’t you?” I blurted out and his lips thinned.“It seems you met with the board of directors,” he sighed, rubbing his eyelids tiredly.“You were the one that told them about my father’s reversed will, right?” I sneered. He stared at me with an indifferent expression.“I couldn’t help it, there is evidence that points accusing fingers at you as a suspect.”My eyes darkened in indignation and I banged my clenched fist on the desk.“What nonsense! Karen is the one making up such stories!” He kept quiet and stared intently at

5 years ago ROSY The kiss Caleb placed on my cheek got butterflies fluttering around my belly. I blushed and smiled widely before returning the kiss, but mine was on the lips. Caleb placed a soft kiss on Sherry’s head before picking up his briefcase.“I’ll be back in the evening, we’ll return to Sicily tomorrow morning,” Caleb muttered and Sherry nodded, grinning widely.“I can’t wait to return to Grandma Joyce, she promised me a plate of pasta and Alfredo sauce!” Sherry exclaimed, throwing her hands up in the air as the euphoria of going back home engulfed her.I felt the same way too, but I wasn’t so transparent about it, I kept the happiness locked within me.Caleb chuckled and ruffled her hair playfully before shuffling to the door. I trialed after him, escorting him to his car.As he clicked the door of the SUV open, he turned around and stared intently at me.“Take care of Sherry, okay?” I nodded in response and straightened his tie which didn’t need the effort.H

Present DayRosy“Sherry!!” I jolted up, my chest rose, and fell in panic and shock.Evan jumped up and stared at me with widened eyes. He walked cautiously to where I lay and touched my forehead.“You’re burning up! Are you okay, Rosy?” He exclaimed in alarm, his eyes surveying my body.I sighed and shut my eyes, it seemed like some strings were drawing them into my skull.“I have remembered everything that happened the day Sherry died. Sherry didn’t die by fire, someone killed her and set the house on fire!” I heaved and glanced at Evan.He was staring at me in amusement, he shook his head and pushed me back into the soft mattress.“I think you have a migraine, I’ll call a doctor,” he muttered.I frowned and slapped his hand away.“I’m telling the truth, someone killed Sherry. I’m going to the police station, I’ll make sure that the investigation concerning Sherry’s death is reopened!” I growled and made to sprint out of bed but Evan grabbed me and pinned my body to the bed.

CALEB“Work together you say?” She scoffed and shook her head.“I can never have anything to do with you, Caleb,” she groused, sheer hatred glistened in her eyes as she talked.“Rosy, please, I’m not asking for your forgiveness,” I paused to let the words make sense before continuing, “I only need a second chance, a second chance to seek justice for our daughter.”“Justice?” She chuckled. “You should have done that five years ago, why do you want to do that now? Is that a way of trying to get back with me, sorry to disappoint you Caleb Thompson you’ve failed in that area.”I sighed, searching for words to placate her.“I’m sorry, I want to right my wrongs, please give me a chance to, after that then you can take my life if that will be your only satisfaction,” I pleaded, hoping the expression in my eyes would be able to convince her.I was taken aback in surprise when Rosy shook her head stubbornly.“No, I can never have anything to do with you, never!” she retorted in determin

With a smile on my radiant face, I watched the kids run around the field aimlessly. I shuddered slightly when I felt wet lips touch my bare neck. I didn't need to turn around to find out who the person was, the scent of his cologne gave him away. “You came here to clear your mind during the holiday, not babysit seven-year-old kids.” He muttered and I chuckled lightly. “I just need to make sure that they're okay,” I replied and he scoffed, wrapping his hands around my shoulders. “Come on, nothing bad is going to happen to them, let's go in,” he nudged. I glanced at our three kids and then back at Caleb's face. “Are you sure?” I muttered and he threw his head back, groaning loudly. “I will be blamed if anything happens,” he said confidently. I turned up my lips and finally relented. Caleb smiled and took my hand, pulling my body against his as he brushed his lips against mine. “Don't try to act weak; what you did years ago still amazes me,” he muttered, and I giggled.

ROSY I took the elevator back to the penthouse, my heartbeat increasing with each step I took from the elevator to the door. I pushed the door open and stepped into the living room. The smell of liquor hit my nose immediately when I stepped in. I turned up my lips in disgust and glanced around the room for him. “Evan?” I called out. My stomach churned when I saw him spin a swivel chair around, his hand holding onto a bottle of liquor. “There you are! I thought you wouldn't show up,” he laughed and got up from the chair. “What do you want?” I snapped, sending a murderous glare at him. He raised his brows in surprise and laughed like a lunatic, waving the bottle of liquor at me. He became quiet and tilted his head in my direction. “All my life, there's only one thing that I have ever wanted.” He gulped a reasonable amount of liquor then shook his finger at me. “You.” My heart shrank and my blood boiled. “Sorry to disappoint you,” I muttered and raised my hand

ROSY "Hello, little red rose, miss me?" The phone dropped from my hand and my heart constricted as I staggered back and panted for air. The excitement in the hall vanished and everyone stared at me in shock. Caleb flinched back at my behavior and stared questioningly at me, but when he realized that I wouldn't give him an answer, he bent down and picked up the phone. It isn't true, is it? That isn't who I thought it was, right? Could it be that Katherine was right? No, no, it can't be. My belly knotted when I saw Caleb's face turn grave. His lips trembled as he forced a name out of his mouth. “Evan?” I felt my heart stop beating and my eyes rolled up. Caleb looked at me, his hand tightening around the phone. He's back! He fucking came back! “Evan?” Mom gasped and murmurs filled the hall. Everyone who knew Evan had a grave look of dismay on their faces. The once joyful atmosphere turned sober and tense at the mention of that terrible and monstrous name. My b

CALEB The large doors pulled open and the sharp rays of sunlight pierced into my eyes. I squinted my eyes, adjusted to the stream of light oozing into the filled-up church, and then looked at the glorious sight some distance before me. She looked angelic; she looked perfect, like a heavenly being. The spotless white dress she wore flowed lazily on the white marble floor as she walked slowly toward me. Her veiled face looked ahead, causing a turbulent feeling in the pit of my belly. The flower she held was Sherry's favorite flower, the blue flower. "Miracle", like Sherry always called it. The rays from the sun surrounded her, making her look like an angel gloriously descending to the earth. Each she took towards me made my heart leap. It felt like I would have a heart attack before she got to me. Everyone's head was turned as hundreds of eyes trailed after her to the altar. I batted my lashes in disbelief when I saw her standing before me, a heart-warming smile on her

CALEB I ran my hands through my disheveled hair as I paced around the waiting room, filled with anxiety. “Calm down, Caleb, calm down,” mom complained, sighing loudly. The door burst open and I spun around, glaring at Mario's pale face. “She has been arrested," Mario said and I grunted in dissatisfaction. “I will sneak into that prison and kill her myself if anything happens to Rosy.” My mom jerked her head in my direction, glaring at me. “You won't do anything like that! And nothing is going to happen to Rosy!” She snapped and I narrowed my eyes, slumping dejectedly into the chair beside me. It was all my fault. If I had gotten there a bit earlier, if I had run up to the balcony instead, she wouldn't have fallen off. She wouldn't be in this critical condition. I'm so sorry that I couldn't save you, I'm such a disappointment,” I muttered, sighing in regret. Perhaps, if I had handled Katherine properly, she wouldn't have shown her face here again. ROSYThe revolver being pointed at me didn't faze me, the face of the woman standing before me was what kept me stunned. “You seem shocked,” she chuckled and advanced towards me. I gasped out and staggered back, holding onto the railings behind me. “Katherine? What the hell are you doing here?” I snapped, glaring confusedly at her. My eyes darted down to her flat belly and my eyes dimmed. Isn't she supposed to be supposed to be pregnant? “What happened to your baby?” She scoffed at my question in disbelief, narrowing her blazing eyes at me. “Well… I killed it,” she muttered and my eyes widened in dismay. “You did what?” I snapped, pursing my lips in anger. She smirked and lowered the gun then tilted her head to the side. “Why? Is it because you're unable to get pregnant again?” Her snide words pricked my heart, making my blood boil. “Does it hurt to watch a child that should have been yours die? Hmmm… I can tell how you feel at the moment. If only God had given me the

ROSY It's been three months since Evan’s escape from prison, three months of peace and curiosity. My curiosity was only satisfied when his body was found floating on water a week ago. Though his face was badly injured and unrecognizable, his body and the mark proved that it was him. Now, I'm full of peace and happiness, not only concerning Evan's death but also my upcoming wedding day. “There you are!” Juliet shrieked as she barged into my office, pulling me out of my reverie. I stretched my lips into a smile and blinked tiredly. “Don't tell me you're already tired from the shopping; the wedding is in a few days, so you better be ready,” she snapped, and I nodded my head. “Yes, ma'am.” She chuckled and dropped a large bag on my desk. “I'm sorry that I couldn't make it to the pre-wedding party, my schedule is so tight that I can hardly eat,” she muttered, breathing out loudly. “Well… that's the price you have to pay for being one of the most famous models in the country,” I

"The party lasted longer than I expected," I threw a flat reply. But the girl refused to give up, she tugged on my arm and forced me to look down at her. "Is it true that Miss Rosy and Caleb Thompson are engaged? I saw it on a social page." "Hmmm, it's true," I responded and quickened my pace. I got to the closed door, sucked in a deep breath before pushing it open. My dad raised his head and forced a smile into his face when he saw me enter the room. "I am sorry that I kept you waiting," I muttered and walked to the couch then slumped into it, waiting for him to tell me the reason for his sudden invitation. "I heard that they are engaged," he muttered, and I nodded, narrowing my eyes in suspicion. Does whatever he has to say have anything to do with Caleb and Rosy? "I just couldn't hol

CALEB When I saw her face, I couldn’t help but admire what a beauty she was. Her blue velvet gown flowed behind her as she stepped down from the spiral staircase accompanied by Juliet. From her lustrous curly hair cascading to her spotless shoulders to her angelic face, down to her flawless thigh which the split on the gown revealed. I couldn’t wait to hold her in his arms once more, and this time, I had planned never to let her slip out my fingers again. “Happy birthday!!” We all cheered, raising our glasses in the air. She laughed and raised her glass too, her eyes pinned on me and mine on her.It was like we were sending a silent message across to each other. Everyone was present, including her rebellious family members. I was surprised that they didn’t try to kick her out when they found out about the stolen funds. That was a pe
