The ad assistant snapped the clapperboard as one of the board members began reading the scene out.

“Amber Farnworth snaps out of her drug induced rage and looks at the massacre around her. She turns to child cowering in the corner and addresses him, go.”

I took a deep breath in and as I breathed out I pushed myself into the headspace of my character. There was no money issues or sick mum, or Pierce, or Tami, or photos… photos with his mother…photos that implied Tami was her soon to be daughter in-law, photos of Pierce in bed with Tami. shit.

“Anytime now, miss Thompson.”

I could smell failure on the horizon. Maybe it would be better if I just got up and left, I thought to myself. I should’ve taken the Ad assistant’s offer earlier.

“If you can’t remember the line, just use your script.” O’Malley suggested, sounding like he was through with this audition already.

“I’m sorry.” I apologized and flipped the script open.

The embarrassment I was feeling fueled my anxiety and m

TAMI… She looked around the room of actors, producers, and other production members with a pleasant smile on her face. Sarah, forever the loyal mutt, hung at the back, even though she did not look particularly happy this evening. She had hinted at how much she wanted to be the main lead in the show Myra had auditioned for. And while she sent those pictures and the article to throw her off her game, she wasn’t particularly doing it for Sarah’s sake, Although she did tell Sarah to be patient In truth, Tami had no intention of getting her on the movie unless it benefitted her. She had also decided to keep the fact that Myra had failed at her audition a secret, just so she could enjoy Sarah’s misery for a little while longer. Lancaster approached them with a wine glass between his chubby fingers. “Mr. Pierce, Miss Tami, I’m so glad you decided to throw this party. “Certainly, gossip and dreams is an excellent show; it deserves this wonderful celebration.” Tami answered with

My pulse quickened but I kept my head on straight in front of me. “Pierce…” his name slipped off my tongue like a warm sigh. I felt the need to spin around and hold him. Or Atleast far back enough so that we were touching. Seeing Pierce in public and pretending we were not close had always been difficult, a certain type of game I enjoyed playing with him. Now it felt like torture. I recalled the searing images of Pierce and Tami, letting the sting of heartbreak course through me, steeling me against my need for him. “I’ve missed you.” He spoke in an affectionate whisper and I felt my walls crumble. I turned then. Pierce’s eyes were on me, dark intent, greedy. My breath seized. His dark hair was swept back from his face. The gray suit on his body fit like a second skin, clinging to his body in all the right places. When I finished my appraisal, I found that his eyes were still on my face. A flush rose to my cheeks and I turned away from him. “I heard your interview went badly.”

  • He wants her back: The billionaire’s leading lady   What? a day keeps Adams away

I was startled awake by loud banging on my door. “Go away.” I groaned and turned in bed. Then it clicked. In a split second I was on my feet and hurrying to the door. That couldn’t be Pierce, he had a key. Maybe it was one of the other tenants? The only person in my life other than Pierce that had the address to this place was… “Lily?” I exclaimed after looking through the peephole. I released the chain and opened the door. Hannah and Lily were outside wearing wide smiles. “Uhhhh…” “Do you know what time it is? I have been trying your number for hours!” I guessed it was midday. ”Sorry, I've done nothing but sleep today.” I stepped away from the door and let them into the apartment. I stood off to the side as they looked around. Having someone in the house felt strange. This was my safe haven outside the real world. I guessed that was what houses were but this felt different. “Sorry, I had to give her your address, we were worried.” “I understand.” I said immediately. I

“Hey.” Adams said, smiling at me. My heart dropped into my stomach, “You’re not supposed to be here.” “I know Myra, I just want to talk-I want to congratulate you…on getting the job.” No words escaped my lips. “She’s very thankful, but she’ll appreciate it if you just leave.” Hannah said kindly. Lily frowned at all of us. Keeping Lily out of the loop was coming back to bite me in the bum. “Myra, can we talk in private, please.” Adams insisted again, moving closer. “My guy, maybe just leave? She doesn’t want to speak with you right now.” Jeremy added. Bless his heart. He just met me and he was already standing up for me. Adams took a good look at him. Probably the first since he materialized at our table. “Who are you supposed to be?” “Right now, an acquaintance, hopefully we can be more than that while we work together on set.” He shot me a friendly wink and I smiled in return. Adams glowered at him, “Nobody’s going to be ‘more’ with Myra. She’s not in the ma

Pierce stepped out of the shadows as he pushed his phone into his pocket. “Myra, I apologize for not being here to welcome you. I had to take a call.” He slowed to a stop opposite me. My heart sped up and I was arrested by his piercing gaze. The fairy lights cast a glow behind him giving him a look of an God with a halo around his head. A rugged one that would only drag me into the debts of hell. His hands rose gently to my face and caressed my nose gently, chasing the thought of him as a deity to the back of my mind. “Did you just boop my nose?” His lips twitched upwards in humor. “I thought you spaced out. You look beautiful as always.” I looked down at my pants, sweater and sneakers combo. It was hardly what Pierce would classify as beautiful, but I smiled. A compliment was a compliment. It faltered when I remembered who ai was talking too. I was supposed to be building immunity to his charms. “So, what are we doing here?” “Celebrating. But first…an apology.” I did

“Today really sucks huh?” Hannah sympathized. I let out a disgruntled breath in response. Since I joined her at our spot, I had planted my head permanently on the table with my eyes closed. To open them would mean I acknowledged my existence, and if I did, then my thoughts would stray to my evening with Pierce. And God, I wanted nothing more than to forget how willingly I gave myself to him. “And you refuse to tell me what Pierce did this time?” She poked my arm with a perfectly manicured finger.“I don’t wanna talk about it.” My voice came out muffled.“Gelato?”I propped my head up with my palms and watched as she gently pushed a bowl towards me. Pistacchio flavored. I grabbed a spoon.“You’re not ready to talk about Pierce, so let’s talk about work.”I let out a defeated groan and planted my head on the table again. Hannah chuckled, “Oh come on.”“My life so far has been one mistake after the other.”“Oof, that’s a bit harsh.”I raised my head. “I went through my script, Hannah

I shrugged and pulled him along. The conference room contained over two dozen people. Excitement buzzed the air as we all waited for O’Malley’s briefing. “Oh my God, that’s Sophia Bennett!” Jeremy gasped, tapping me in excitement. “She was in my favorite show. Too bad they had to end it prematurely. And now I’ll never know if Brady was in love with Sylvia or Jesse.” He sighed dramatically.“You could ask her.”“Why didn’t t I think of that?”I chuckled and glanced around the room in search of one man.“O’Malley’s not here?”“He was, but he had a bad coughing fit and left for a bit. I understood why she glanced in my direction before introducing Tami. If she had done her research, then she had probably seen the rumors about me and Pierce.“Yeah, apparently her parents encouraged her to put her degree to use. I can’t tell if she approached O’Malley or he approached her.” She shrugged. “But I have a hunch that says she’s one of the sponsors for this film.”Sophia spoke animatedly while Tami smiled sweetly and listened. I stopped hearing Bianca’s words, the ringing in my ear, overshadowing the noise around me. So far Tami had only wielded Pierce’s attention to hurt me, both of us on set would be bad for me.My mind flashed to my evening with Pierce and I winced. “The chances of that happening were slim.” He answered, rubbing the back of his head. “How would you know that?”“Because she's your mum and she loves you.”“And how would you know that?” He let out an exasperated breath. “What if it didn’t go the way it did.”“Then we would’ve added that to the list of things in your life I’ve ruined.”“Pierce?” I stepped out of Hannah’s hold to fully look at him. “I want the truth.” Even if he dropped a donation, it didn’t mean they would call him when she was sick. Lots of random people left donations to buildings all the time, it didn’t warrant this level of special treatment,“Can we not talk about this?”“Why?”“You forcing me into that room just saved my mother, which is why I want to hear what is going on from you. Had I misheard in my panic?“Oh dear.” Hannah whispered as I felt Carter tense around me. I pulled away from him and followed Hannah’s line of sight and behold, a Blackwood. And not just any Blackwood, the most infuriating of them. Pierce’s were not on me per se, but on Carter’s arms around me. I stepped away from Carter, confusion written on my face. I didn’t know he had a family member in Peaceful Pines. What was he doing here?“I’m sorry, we would’ve called you earlier but everything has been crazy since her fall.” The doctor said apologetically, as she stepped towards him.Drawn by a sudden wail, he glanced past her, concern on his face. “Is that her? “How is she now?” I asked, fear flooding my voice when I answered the call. “How is who?” Carter asked, I moved the phone away and confirmed that it was Carter, I had just been too distraught to check the caller Id “is everything fine?” He asked again. A strangled sound left my lips. “No. It’s not fine. I’m sorry, but I can’t make it to our date tonight, an emergency came up.” “What is it?” “My mum had an accident.” “Give me the address, I’ll meet you there.” He answered grimly. “No, you don’t have to-“ “I want to, Myra. Just turn your location on and I’ll track it.” I nodded frantically even though he could not see, and ended the call, turning my location on before I tossed my phone in my lap and stared out at the road in front of us. God let her be okay, I prayed. “She’ll be fine, Myra.” Hannah tried to soothe, but her foot never left the gas pedal. “So you’ve gone on four dates with this guy?” Hannah asked as she sucked a tapioca ball through her straw. We were in a new shop across the street from our favorite store because that had been rented out for a birthday party. The condensation on her drink had formed a wet spot on her shirt that said ‘I might be wrong but it’s very unlikely.’ “Yeah. That’s minus the restaurant accident.” “Oh my god Myra, that’s over two weeks! Did you really keep this away from me for that long?!” I smiled impishly at her frowning face. “I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it, I mean it’s still not a big deal.” I shrugged. “Yeah, it’s totally not a big deal that you’re moving on from Pierce.” She scoffed, but a smile spread across her face. “Wow. And you have another date with him after this?” Carter and I agreed to meet up after Hannah and I were done. “It’s not a big deal.” I repeated. “What’s he like?” I chewed my lip, “he’s a perfect gentleman, he makes me feels at ease, but al

You must I’ve seen us once or twice on tv. You probably watched Maria Delaine’s interview that broke the internet!” “Yeah I remember that.” He sounded like a very excited intern who was proud to be working in that office. “I don’t see what that has to do with me, though.” “Uhh, well my boss- the Luke Costner enterprise were hoping we could invite you for a one on one interview with the main man. “ he stumbled through the first half like he was surprised by my question but recovered, his pleasure returning back to his voice at the mention of Luke. “The Costner himself?” I asked, as I left the bedroom and peeked into the room next to it. I smiled as I climbed up the stairs that led up to my apartment. Lunch with Carter hd been fun and had gone without incidence. Save for overspilling ketchup that one time, but it wasn’t a hundred dollar accident. God, why did I become so clumsy around him? Something about doing something perfectly well till someone else was watching you. And he did that a lot. It didn’t cause my heart to leap in my throat like it did with Pierce. But a blush always crept in. I was glad I had asked it out to eat. Made me feel triumph over Pierce and his hold on me. I raised the tiny rug in front of my door in search of my key where I had left for Pierce or his movers, and found nothing. I tried the the door, but it didn’t move.Did they lock my house and take the key?! My eyes widened as I realized that Pierce may have gone back on his word again. I blinked wondering if those words had come from him or me. His hands wrapped over mine on his collar and pulled it higher, around his neck. “I can’t let you go.” He said, as he kissed down my jawline. “What do you mean you can’t?” I asked, as I pushed through the fog that wanted me to stop thinking, to surrender to the feeling of him being close to me. “I mean, I should. It’s better for both of us.” He pulled me closer, nearly lifting me off my feet as he pressed me against the door. “But I just can’t Myra, I think of you walking out of this office, walking out of my life and…it’s not happening.” “You promised.” My eyebrows furrowed and I pulled my head back to look at him. He smiled at me, running his finger over the spot his mouth had been. “You don’t want to walk out either, Myra.” “No, I-I do.” Liar. I shut my eyes to chase away the thoughts. I couldn’t do this to myself. So close to the end. When I opened them, my convictions were evident. “I do.” “And yet your a

The first second I felt dawn break the next morning, I slipped out of Seth’s house after dropping a note to say thankyou, and went into mine to take a shower. Then I spent the last day of my weekend in Hannah’s home who listed the many merits of accepting Pierce’s money.“You don’t have to convince me Hannah, I’m not saying No. That choice was taken away, and in exchange, Pierce will stop bothering me.” Everytime I answered that, she would look at me with a sad expression on her face and whenever I glared at her, she would raise her hands in the air. I tried to spend a little more time with Lily while I was there. Seth’s story reminding me just how valuable she was to me, but Lily was out most of the time, I figured she was still mad at me for not taking her to the new house. Monday came, and I marched into Pierce’s office building with false confidence . When was the last time I had been there? That was right, when I brought lunch for him as a thank you. Then, I had told him that I

I got into a lot of fights as a kid.” He continued. “So I could pretend the welts on my body were from my scuffles, not from my father. Now I cover those scars with tattoos.”“What about the scars in your mind?” He slowed his chewing, “those ones, we just have to live with.
