Ch 6

{New students}

         {WEEKEND<>SATURDAY}

“Mom, Check this out..”Ariel said coming out of the changing room.

“What are you wearing?”Her mom frowned shaking her head.

Ariel turns around.”Common mom, it the latest dress in town”

“You are practically naked...Common go take off that dress...Am not buying this for you”

Ariel frowned. She is dressed in an armless short gown. They are currently in a boutique shopping for clothes.

“Rachel, tell mom there is nothing wrong with this dress,” Ariel said.

No response.

“Rachel!”Ariel called more loudly this time, her eyes moving to where Rachel stood holding a jean trouser and jacket absently minded and touching her lips with her other hand.

“Mom, look at Rachel,” Ariel said silently to her mom.

“Rachel!”Her mom called but still no response. She is lost in thoughts.

She remembered what happened between her and Kelly on Wednesday.

            <>FLASHBACK~>

“I don’t know what wrong with me ...but...I don’t know, this might sound crazy but ...” he stuttered staring intently at her and his eyes moved to her partly open lips.

“What is it?”She asked silently feeling awkward.

“Can...can I kiss you?”

For a moment, Rachel stopped breathing and she stared at him her heart beating.

Kiss?

Her head was filled with different questions. Why does he want to kiss her?

Is he in love with her?

She hasn’t kissed anyone before. Is she ready to lose her first kiss?

Of course.it with Kelly ....it not that bad.

Her eyes bulged out when she saw Kelly really close to her and his lips almost close to hers.

His eyes closed and she started fidgeting wondering what she is supposed to do.

“He is about kissing me!...but I didn’t say anything!”She yelled within herself.

She slowly started closing her eyes and when she was expecting the feel of his lips on hers, the cough of someone could be heard and Kelly quickly jerked away from her feeling slightly embarrassed.

“Sorry for interrupting,” The intruder said with a lopsided smile.

He coughed again and left the classroom. Rachel doesn’t even know who he neither has she seen his face before.

She faced the ground feeling embarrassed.

“Rachel am....”

“You can’t just try to kiss me without my permission.....We aren’t dating or something. you are just ...Aargh” She uttered gathering the courage to look at him in the face in not to look weak in front of him.

She eyed him and then left the classroom feeling kind of sad.

She should have just let him kiss her!

    <>FLASHBACK OVER<>

“I could have just let him kiss me and then we could have been dating by now....am so stupid. Now I don’t know what it feels like to be kissed” Rachel said in her mind touching her lower lips and holding a Jean jacket and jean trouser in her other hand.

Kelly has been trying to talk to her since Wednesday but she refused to listen to him.

He has also been sending sorry texts but she didn’t reply any.

She is overreacting and she knows that ...he didn’t even kiss her.

She and Nana have reconciled back and Rachel is glad to have her best friend back.

She felt a hand tap her really hard on her shoulder and she jerked back into consciousness.

“What are you thinking about and why are you touching your lips ?”Ariel interrogated.

Rachel stares angrily at her.”Who gave you the nerve to hit me?!”

“I only tapped you softly....psst”

“And what in the Humpty dumplings are you putting on,” Rachel said eyeing her dress.

“It pretty right?”Ariel smiled.

“Pretty my left toe...go take that off”

“Am not!”

“Mom!”Rachel called.

“Ariel!, take it off!”Her mom said.

“Fine !”Ariel glared at Rachel and walked back to the changing room.

LATER THAT SAME DAY.

Rachel laid on her bed watching a movie on Netflix on her phone.

Her phone beeped and she checked.it Kelly again.

KELLY=<>Hey, how are you?

She decided to reply to him. She has been giving him the silent treatment since Wednesday. That is for three days now.

RACHEL=<>Hi.Am Fine.You?

His reply came in almost immediately.

KELLY=~>Thanks for replying to me. Am sorry about what happened on Wednesday. I wasn’t myself.

RACHEL=~>What was that all about?

KELLY=~>Let just forget about it, please. We are still friends?

RACHEL=~>Sure.

KELLY=~>So What are you up to?

RACHEL=~>Was watching a movie on Netflix when your text came in.

KELLY=~>Oh, Sorry for disturbing you

RACHEL=~>It Fine.

KELLY=>You Free tomorrow?

RACHEL=>Yeah kind of.After coming back from church...Am always home or maybe hang out with Nana.

KELLY~>I was wondering if we could hang out tomorrow...like go for ice cream.it just my way of saying sorry for letting you go to detention.

RACHEL~>Fair enough!Am in

KELLY~>I can come over to pick you?

RACHEL~>Oh no! We would meet up.

KELLY~>Okay..you can go back to your movie.

She opened the Netflix app to continue watching but on second thought. She opened g****e instead.

She typed in: WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN A GUY ASK YOU ON AN ICE-CREAM DATE?

She feels like she is getting crazy but she pressed the search button anyways.

She read the answers she got.

<>It means he is interested in you

<>*it means he wants to probably ask you out.

<>*it means he wants to talk about stuff with you.

She saw some websites and click on them reading different answers.

Her phone beeped meaning there is a new message.

It from Nana.

NANA<>Hi bes, Am coming over to your house after church tomorrow.

Her eyes widened. She replied.

RACHEL<>Tomorrow?

NANA<>Yes, tomorrow. You are not busy right?

RACHEL<>Am not!

NANA<>Oh good!

Oh No! She can’t probably tell Nana she wants to go out with Kelly.

Guess she won’t be meeting Kelly tomorrow!

{MONDAY}

“Are you hiding from someone?”Nana asked Rachel who was looking at the classroom door every minute and covering her face with a handkerchief. She is also wearing a hoodie.

“Am not...why would I be?”

She doesn’t know how to face Kelly. She feels really bad. Nana came over yesterday and she wasn’t herself. She had to put her phone on silent as Kelly calls and texts keep coming in.

She should have just texted him and tell him she can’t make it but she doesn’t know how to.

She later switched off her phone.

“Then why do you keep....you know what, never mind!”Nana said.

Lucas entered the homeroom class quietly. His eyes met with Nana and he gulped down nothing. He kept staring at her till he got to his seat.

Ever since the incident on Wednesday, he hasn’t gotten the courage to walk up to her to say thank you.

“Okay, What was that?is something going on between you and Lucas ?”Rachel asked watching the eye contact between nana and Lucas.

“Of course not ..why would there be” Nana laughed nervously.

“Yeah of course ...You and Lucas are a big No!”

“And why if I may ask?”

Rachel was about to say something when miss high heal entered with a girl.

“Good morning students!”She greeted.

They responded returning the greeting. Rachel wondered why Kelly isn’t in class yet but a part of her is happy she won’t have to face him.

“So we have two new students ....this is Aaliyah and ..... ?”Miss high heel said and arched her brows when she couldn’t see the second student.

“Where is your brother?”She asked Aaliyah and almost immediately, A guy entered the classroom and the students gasped especially the girls.

“Oh My freaking God! He is so hot!”Rachel said rather too loudly and the guy faced her immediately and her cheek turned red in embarrassment.
