Cheryl York had always thought she was special to Wesley Lincoln. Even if she had to stay by his side without anyone else knowing about it, she could be obedient and accommodating. She would willingly come to him as and when he wanted and loved him unconditionally. But everything changes when she learns that he's getting engaged. Cheryl doesn't believe it and even stupidly runs to him to ask him whether it's true. All she gets is a nonchalant question. "Don't I treat you well enough already?" It's only then that Cheryl realizes her love is nothing but a joke. Wesley only thinks of her as a plaything. Later, Cheryl gets married. On the day of her wedding, her groom clears a whole road in the city and has countless expensive cars lining it. The wedding is so grandiose that it's a scene no one has ever witnessed before. Everyone is jealous of how lucky she is. Wesley shows up at the wedding, too. He's neither the groom nor a guest—he's there to take the bride away. Cheryl has her arm in her groom's as they approach Wesley. She uses the exact same tone he used with her and asks, "Were my wedding photos not big enough to catch your attention, or has your eyesight gone bad with age, Uncle Wes?"

For the past couple of days, Cheryl York had been hit with intense bouts of nausea. He had been urgent and rough in bed, and they hadn't taken precautions. The thought that she might have gotten pregnant filled her with trepidation.Mindful of her gossipy colleagues at the hospital, Cheryl decided to take a different route after work, stopping at a pharmacy to buy a pregnancy test.Once home, Cheryl headed straight to the bathroom. The few minutes she spent waiting for the result were filled with anxiety. Suddenly, her phone started buzzing nonstop. Cheryl's heart tightened, but she ignored the incoming call and stared at the pregnancy test. The result would be the most accurate after five minutes. Chapter 2
Cheryl was tongue-tied, unable to argue.Wanda didn't think she had said anything wrong. "Besides, you've already slept with him. It's been three years since that night, are you really willing to walk away empty-handed? Don't you want him to take responsibility and give you a proper title?""Mom!" Cheryl snapped. "That's enough."But Wanda handed her the clothes she had prepared, forcing them into Cheryl's hands. "Ian is resting in the third-floor bedroom. I timed your arrival perfectly. There's no one else around. Go now."Cheryl bit her lip, her face filled with humiliation. She had often wondered over the years if her mother loved her, even just a little bit. If that cup of tea hadn't come from Wanda that night, she would have believed so.But no, Wanda didn't love her at all.Feeling disheartened, Cheryl handed the clothes back to Wanda. "I'm not going. You can forget about it. By the way, the whole 'boy who cried wolf' routine only works twice. You'd better think carefully

Chapter 3
Cheryl would never forget about that night.Wanda had intended to send her into Ian's room, planning to force him to marry Cheryl once the deed was done. But her calculations had gone awry that night. She had sent Cheryl to Wesley's room instead of Ian's.Cheryl still vividly remembered waking up the next morning to Wesley's fierce gaze.He had asked her what her intention was, and in her haste, she had lied. She had told him she liked Ian and had accidentally walked into the wrong room, hoping he would let her off.Wesley's mocking words had pierced her heart like needles. "Like mother, like daughter. One marrying a lunatic for social status, and the other willingly stooping for money."Cheryl had been utterly embarrassed. "Please, Uncle Wes. Spare me."Wesley's tone was frigid. "You want me to spare you, but where is your sincerity?"At that time, Cheryl was at a loss. Then, Wesley picked up his clothes and turned away. "From now on, you will come whenever I call, until I ge

Oh no.She had left in such a hurry last night that she hadn't even had time to see the result of the pregnancy test, let alone put it away.Cheryl hesitated, trying to think of a reasonable explanation to give Jessie.Though they were best friends, she couldn't mention anything about Wesley to anyone. Plus, Jessie had always thought she was single."Jessie, that pregnancy test—"Before Cheryl could explain, Jessie's voice sounded over the phone. "Cher, there are two lines."What? Two lines?Cheryl was dumbstruck, her mind going blank and her ears ringing. Was she really pregnant? No, it couldn't be. Perhaps Jessie was mistaken.Feeling a surge of panic but clinging to the last bit of hope, Cheryl gripped her phone tightly as if it were her lifeline. "Jessie, are you sure there are two red lines?"Jessie's voice was hesitant. "Uh, I… I'm not quite sure.""What?" Cheryl's heart missed a beat. "Is the second red line faint?"Jessie explained, "I didn't notice the test on the

Chapter 5
Cheryl's heart pounded with unease as she stepped inside, feeling the weight of Luke's sharp gaze on her. It was as if he could see through her hidden relationship with Wesley.Wesley glanced toward the door, his gaze landing on Cheryl. Their eyes met, and Cheryl felt her heart skip a beat."You don't remember her?" Luke asked. Wesley furrowed his brow. "What's her name again?""Cheryl, Shane's stepdaughter," Luke replied blandly."Ah, Cheryl," Wesley said, leaning back casually with his hands behind his head. "Haven't seen her around the house much. She seems quite unfamiliar."Although Wesley's words appeared to distance himself from her, Cheryl felt an inexplicable heaviness in her chest.Luke chuckled sarcastically. "Even if she's unfamiliar, it didn't stop you from standing up for her."Cheryl's heart tightened.Wesley turned his head slightly. "I know you're trying to make an excuse for Ned. I know very well whether that brat intended to throw the ball at me."Luke see

To Cheryl's surprise, Luke wasn't angry. Instead, he looked intrigued. "You have someone in mind? Who is this talented young man?".Cheryl steeled herself before continuing, "We… haven't made our relationship official yet."Luke pressed on, "Is he from Whitebay? What does he do for a living?""Yes, he's from Whitebay. He's… a teacher."Cheryl quickly made up some background information. She thought any occupation would do, as long as it kept Luke from marrying her off casually."A doctor and a teacher. It's quite a fitting match," Luke said, though no one could tell if he approved.A maid came to refill the tea. The steam rising between the two wing chairs obscured Wesley's stern face and the emotions in his eyes. The maid noticed the veins on the back of Wesley's hand standing out as he held the cup. The next moment, Wesley looked up, causing her to almost drop the teapot in fear."Clumsy fool," Luke reprimanded in displeasure.Terrified, the maid stepped back, her hands trem

The woman standing before Cheryl was impeccably dressed in luxury clothes, exuding an air of opulence and elegance. Her face was strikingly beautiful and flawless. She was a true stunner.Cheryl knew who she was.Melody Larson had been a prominent figure beside Wesley for the past few years, often appearing in public with him. Among the rumors about Wesley's romantic entanglements, Melody was the most discussed. She was capable, beautiful, and talented. And she had been by Wesley's side the longest. Whenever there was a formal occasion, Melody would accompany him. Many in high society speculated that she would likely become Wesley's future wife."Are you the doctor?" Melody's gaze settled on Cheryl, her voice carrying some uncertainty."Yes, I am," Cheryl replied calmly.Melody looked away and got straight to the point. "My father's condition has improved. I'm taking him home now. Please remove the medical equipment from him."Without a word, Cheryl returned to her seat and ret

Chapter 8
"She's part of the Lincoln family," Wesley said.Cheryl blinked in surprise. She hadn't expected Wesley to confirm her identity himself. Yet, peculiarly, his statement didn't acknowledge her as his niece."Wesley, I… I didn't know Dr. York was your family member," Melody said, glancing at Cheryl's name badge. She immediately switched to calling Cheryl politely.Cheryl looked up at Melody and smiled. "I'm just their in-law, an information not many know. But I do know you, Ms. Larson."Melody found it difficult to return the smile. She knew that she couldn't afford to offend any member of the Lincoln family. She hadn't even married Wesley yet, and she had already offended one of them, even if that person was just their in-law. Melody felt a little uneasy.Under Melody's nervous gaze, Cheryl continued, "You're the one who's been around Uncle Wes the longest. Everyone, even the Lincolns, knows about you. I bet Uncle Wes really likes you."Melody felt a mix of flattery and surprise.

Cheryl had been Wesley's secret bedmate for three years. She should have been sensible long ago.But over these three years, Wesley seemed to grow more addicted to her body. What started as him summoning her once every month or two escalated to days or even weeks at a time."Cherry…"Wesley's rough voice snapped Cheryl out of her thoughts. Immediately after, a sharp pain shot through her neck, and she whimpered, "Be gentle…""I can't help it."Wesley was completely different in bed—dominant and ruthless. Sometimes, she had to cry and beg for mercy to make him stop. Finally, after the third climax, Cheryl collapsed on the bed. She was drenched in sweat and too exhausted to even open her eyes. His kisses landed on the back of her ear, causing her to startle. Instinctively, she raised her hand to push him away. "I can't take it anymore. I really can't..."Wesley ignored her protests and thrust forcefully, shattering her resistance into pieces."You're so good…" His palm caressed

Cheryl woke up to the aroma of Buffalo wings. Opening her eyes, she saw Jessie sitting by her bed, devouring the chicken wings, each bite oiling her lips."Jessie, there are a lot of germs in hospital rooms. It's not very hygienic to eat like that," Cheryl said weakly, but her voice was enough to alert Jessie to her awakening. With stuffed cheeks, Jessie turned to look at Cheryl. She hastily wiped her mouth and hands with a tissue. "Cher, you're awake! How are you feeling? Does it hurt anywhere?" she asked. "I feel much better," Cheryl replied, her complexion improved. "Why are you here?""I called you early this morning, and Dr. Stanley answered. He told me about your condition, so I rushed over to look after you.""Did he tell you what happened to me?" Chery asked. She only remembered fainting in the middle of the night, feeling palpitations and nausea before suddenly losing consciousness.Jessie poured Cheryl a glass of warm water as she said, "Dr. Stanley said it was acute
