Bella:

We went back to the apartment without Halle. She had asked Riley to go back with us, stating it was risky for him to drive back to the Dusk Pack, knowing that vampires lurked around the mountains on the deserted roads at night.

When we asked where she was going, she gave us a warm smile, saying, “Adults worry about children, and not the other way around.”

With that, she vanished.

Soon, we made it to the parking lot of the apartment where Kai and Ryder were waiting for us. As soon as our cars came to a stop, they rushed toward us. We got down from the car, and then they rushed at me. Kai pulled me to himself first.

“We had a feeling you were in danger, and I kept telling Ryder, but we shrugged it off, thinking Finn would call,” Kai said. I pressed my body harder into theirs.

“What matters is that we are okay now,” I said to him, and then he kissed my cheek before pulling away from me.

I looked at Ryder, whose face was drawn down.

“I am not dead, Ryder,” I said to him, then he th

THIRD PERSON POV:Herald was in his study, looking over a lot of papers, ranging from the amenities the pack lacked to the bills and monthly pack budget. He had a lot of work to do, and he was lagging, but this wasn’t because he couldn’t do it; his spirit was down. Outside, he was the brave and ruthless Alpha king who ruled the Rune pack, but deep down, he was a man who had lost his family.“This is all too much,” he said, pushing away the papers in front of him.He took a deep breath, then he pulled open his drawer to take out a stamp, but he found a picture, which opened the floodgate of the brokenness his heart was trying to conceal. It was a picture of Bella, Evelyn, and him when Bella had just turned one. They all had a smile.Taking out the picture, he placed it on his desk, then he ran his hands across it, shutting his eyes to that time. The smile on Evelyn’s face had been fake, and he hadn’t known she was suffering so much. He wished he could go back and undo whatever his moth

Bella:In this world, there was literally nothing I hated more than exam seasons. Having to wake up early daily, and stay up late through the night just to get extra hours to feed my brain with information I’d probably never need in my life. I mean, would I need maths when I sit on the throne of the Rune pack? Or physics? Why the fuck did we need to feed our brains with this much information? What pissed me off the most was that some of these subjects in the curriculum belonged to humans, and I could never wrap my head around why were-people wanted to learn like they did. Father always said it would help if one found themselves amongst humans—like he would allow me to go through that portal after rambling about how humans were scared of us and would kill us if they found us.“Bella, you have been staring at that page for over an hour now,” Hazel’s voice cut through my mind, causing me to let out a sigh. “We have only thirty minutes left before the exams, and you haven’t moved. Bella:Sometimes, when I tried to look back at where my problems started, I could only pin it on the fact that I got older. I missed being five, when all I cared about was what to eat, what to watch, or if my dad would play with me. Life was glorious, and I didn’t have to fight with my father. He was my pillar and foundation, but as I grew up, the cracks kept intensifying, and now I doubted it could ever be repaired. As we handed in our papers to Ms. Polly, I couldn’t get over the fact I didn’t write a single thing in the exam. I imagined what could have happened if Hazel wasn’t here. I would have failed because of the man I supposedly loved the most.“Bella, Bella, always pushing the blame,” a small voice crept into my head, and I tried to push it away, but I couldn’t; it kept swelling in my mind.As soon as Ms. Polly opened the door, I got up at once, leaving Hazel behind. She came after me, grabbing my hand before I could go far.“Bella, please don’t do this,” she said, and I stare

We don’t have to continue the training,” he said, and I nodded as I let the tears hanging in my eyes fall.I thought my mother hating me was bad, but finding out that my father wasn’t innocent was taking a toll on me. I wanted to leave, bury my head in a pillow, and bawl my eyes out like I had been doing in silence for the past few days. But I had exposed myself to them, and although I appreciated their help, I didn’t want to feel like a burden. When I pulled away from Ryder, Hazel stared at me, her face drawn down.“Hazel, please, I don’t mean to make you sad or anything. I’ll be better soon,” I said, and she threw her arms around me.“I’m trying so hard not to cry, Bella. I hadn’t seen my father in months, and everything had changed since then.“You’ll be fine,” Ryder said to me, throwing his arms around me from behind as I stared at the Alpha’s men, who were loading my bags into the car trunk. My hands grabbed his arms, and then I kissed his hands.“I hope so,” I said, trying to think positively about my situation. The twins’ voices trailed off behind us, and we turned around to see them walking out of the door with Hazel. They made their way towards us, causing Ryder to let go of me. THIRD PERSON POV:Bella stood over Enzo’s battered form, her chest heavy from the stresss. Blood dripped from the cuts on her face and arms, but victory was near, so she held herself steady.“Bella! Catch!” Kai yelled, tossing her the stake.“No, you do not have to do this. His once-dominating presence was reduced to desperation.“You deserve nothing but death,” Bella said to him, and he chuckled.“I will always find a way to ret—” Before he could finish, she drove the stake into his heart, and he gave a deafening scream that reverberated through the ground.Dark energy swirled around him as his body was being torn apart. It was worse than being bitten by a living wolf, as it was consuming her twice. Rage bubbled inside Enzo as he watched her. She was useless to him, and he felt the need to get rid of her, as she had only foiled all his plans.“You!” He growled under his breath, leaving Halle and rushing toward Sue. As she saw her uncle from the fading light that drew her closer to death, her eyes lit up with a glimmer of hope.“You… you came to help me,” she whispered weakly, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth. “I… knew you… cared…”Enzo stared at her in disgust as she said this, and for a moment, it seemed like the battlefield held its breath for this moment where Enzo was about to show kindness. With one pull, Enzo had Sue on her feet, then he stared into her eyes. “Of course, I came for you, Sue.
