She had woken up from the most beautiful dream he gave her. Many precious memories went to trash when those words came out of his mouth. From now on, no more hugs from his mother while saying it had been a blessing that she has turned up into her son's life.
It hurt her as hell realizing the same lie that made her happy was vanishing into nothing. It didn't matter to remember how she met him or the adventures that shared together; it didn't matter to turn back time to see all the crazy things she did for him. That part of their lives together didn't matter anymore.
Now, what matters is to know she had woken up and will get by. No one else will toy her again. It hurts to know the world had won. They stabbed that innocent heart which won't live again unless she accepts to be like the world. Anything else but pure feelings.
“Get out of my life. Don't even think about me, forget about my existence. Get out of here!” She yelled at him earning the courage to see him go away.
“Please, Alice, let's talk about this,” Gabriel begged getting up.
“Get out of here! I hate you, I regret the day I looked at you, I regret the moment when I kissed you!” She expressed kicking him out of there.
“Alice, don't be a fool, let´s talk.” Gabriel continued while Alice pushed him out of the house. He felt too guilty for turning an innocent human being into a wild person.
A story full of lies finished in the moment she closed the door.
She didn't want to know about anyone else so; she ran to her room and closed the door and the world, behind her.
Her hopeful day faded when she saw him once again and this time, to finish with the biggest lie that made her happy.
Maria and Rosa knew Alice needed time to heal her fragile heart. Alice would get ahead. They could bet it.
The night fell and the presence of Alexa had been brought home. Alexa was already been notified by the events of the day. Of course she was mad at her. It's incredible that Alice loved him enough to disobey her sister's words.
As soon as she arrived, she went upstairs to talk to her sister and ask her an explication but Maria stopped her saying it was not the best moment to talk to her.
Crying all day had left her drained. She didn't even remember the last time she took care of herself. She tried to endure dizziness, nausea and the headache for a little longer but, she couldn't. Those symptoms had crossed the limits.
Alice opened the door and walked downstairs without being aware of anything. Her thoughts were to find someone who could help her.
She couldn't be more thankful when she saw her sister at the end of the stairs.
“Alexa…” Alice whispered feeling she was about falling down.
“Alice?” Alexa called her. She wanted to ask many questions but seeing her like that, she just thought of taking her into her arms.
“Please, help me.”
Her pale skin alerted Alexa's heart. “That idiot!” expressed Alexa thinking Gabriel had done something to her. “Rosa, call our doctor!”
Maria and Alexa moved quickly taking Alice to her room bringing alcohol to make her wake up. Eventually, Rosa came into the room helping them too.
“The doctor is coming,” she informed.
There was nothing they could do. Alice was sick. She was really sick and all of that, just for a man.
As time went by, Alexa's hate for Gabriel grew drastically and the doctor didn't seem to show up.
Finally, the doorbell rang. It had to be the doctor. Maria opened the door. A very young man came into the house looking for the person that was becoming his patient since then.
“Come with me, please, doctor.” Maria almost begged.
In the room, everyone was looking at the door waiting for the doctor. A young man came in with any permission. Alexa and Rosa moved aside. Alexa knew very well the man that had come as a doctor.
“Ian!” named the older.
“Alexa,” Ian replied to let her know he had recognized her.
“What about the doctor?” She questioned him. Alexa was aware it hadn't been so long since he started his career.
“He couldn't make it, he had an important meeting and he sent me on his behalf. Don't worry; I do know what I do.”
Alexa didn't trust despite his words but she preferred to have him there to not have anyone.
They couldn´t help but staring at him and all the actions he was doing with Alice. His expressionless face worried them even more.
Second by second, Alice opened her eyes. In front of her, the last person she thought would be assisting her someday. She hadn't even opened her eyes well when she wanted to know what he was doing there.
“Ian?” She named him with no strength.
“Stay still, Alice. Help me finish this.”
Alice stayed quiet. She couldn't believe Ian was there. He hadn't changed so much.
Finally, Ian backed up putting away medical his instruments. Then, he approached to Alexa.
“There's nothing to worry about but it'd be better if a hospital can check her up.” He reported crestfallen.
“I don't understand.” Alexa accepted.
“Alice is pregnant.” He said disappointed. No one there had realized that girl with a human being in her insides had become his light since he arrived in the country.
“You need to take her to check her up. Excuse me, I have to go.” He expressed unprofessional.
Rosa was the only one in that room that came back to her senses to accompany the doctor downstairs. Even though, she felt her heart heavy.
Alexa sat down on the bed. Alice just continued crying in silence. Maria seemed to be the only one to be aware of the situation.
“How could you...?” Alexa asked feeling betrayed. She couldn't believe her little sister was pregnant with the baby of the man who had hurt her the most. “Are you insane?!”
“Haven't you made a mistake? Are you so pure to judge me?!” Alice talked back.
“That's enough, Alexa,” Maria cut them off. “What did you expect her to do when Gabriel was the only one who made her feel good in her own skin?! You weren't there for her.”
The straightforward words that Maria had said, stabbed the heart of Alexa. She just wanted to find the guilty one when she had been who put her sister on the edge making her cling to a man.
Alice was still crying bitterly. Maria, feeling herself like a mom, went to Alice and offered a warm hug. Alexa couldn't help but feeling guilty.
“I'm here, Alice. You can count on me, my dear angel.” Maria said petting Alice's hair.
It was a matter of time for Alexa to realize her sister will need her forever. Alexa felt betrayed and... guilty. She loved her sister and nothing would change that. She was expecting a baby. The blessing of that family even if they could not see that.
Alice couldn't believe how her dreams had broken with that confession.
Of course she wasn't thinking about giving up on her baby but... It was too much for her to think about now. That was her baby just hers, and like that, she would raise him or her.
Days went by, Alice couldn't see beyond her broken dreams. She was pregnant. There were no doubts. A new challenge she had to overcome. Alice made a mistake and Alexa was accepting her with all her mistakes. In the end, she was a human being trying to survive. Of course, her older sister wouldn't let her drift like he did.
“How have you been feeling?” Her sister asked Alice leaning against the door frame.
“Yes, I've been doing well.” Alice put down the book she was reading.
“Have you eaten well?” The tone of voice Alexa used made Alice realize she was no longer mad at her.
Alice nodded. Her cuteness made Alexa sit down beside her. She was still being innocent. Finally, she was gonna talk to her.
“Alice, I'll support you because from now on, we're gonna raise that baby. Count on me, count on me forever. You too, baby angel,” Alexa smiled putting her hand on Alice's belly. A belly that will go bigger and bigger sooner or later.
“Alexa,” Alice called her looking into her eyes. She was not joking. Her tears fell from her eyes again and feeling her support, Alice hugged her older sister.
Alexa giggled. “That baby will live well, all of us are gonna raise him or her, you're gonna become the doctor you always wanted to be. I swear it.”
“I can't be more thankful. I don't know how to pay you.”
“Of course you know. Alice, I'll have been well payed off when you become a good doctor, when you baby call you mom and call me aunt.”
With teary eyes, Alice looked at her. The moment she was waiting for to talk about what had been going on in her thoughts, had come.
“Alexa?” asked the younger.
“Tell me.”
“I wanna start a new life with this baby. I don't wanna raise him or her here. Let's move to the United States. I've planned everything.”
Alexa was speechless. She couldn't believe how brave and diligent her sister was.
A big smile was drawn on Alexa's face. Of course, they would move to wherever she wanted. Alice was gonna need her older sister and Alexa would be there forever.
SIX YEARS LATER What is fated to blossom, will blossom sooner or later, what is meant to be, will be in any ways. What is fated to live, will live, no matter how big the desire to destroy it is, it will live, it will live, because it is the mere life which stays where it has to stay. Six springs had gone since the moment Alice held her son between her arms, six summers had gone since the moment she cried with her sister while saying she was not a good mother just because she couldn’t guess her son was hungry, five falls had gone since her son’s first birthday party and five winters had gone since the last moment she stopped thinking about her son’s father as her first and eternal love. Gabriel didn’t exist in her thoughts since her heart became stronger to face the pain of being betrayed and then, being able to bury it in the deepest corner of her heart, he had not been a mistake in her life, he had not been that stone some trips over with, he had been the bearer of miracles that
Alice ran back and forth while her son just looked at her sitting down on his little chair. If his mom had woken up earlier she wouldn’t be like that. Her beautiful smile drawn on her face was brighter than ever, since that little angel was brought to her life, she was not able to see beyond that pair of brown eyes where she couldn’t help but see the vivid image of that man she loved the most one day and… maybe, whom she was still in love with. It had been some years since the last day her lips were kissed by a man, the only man that made blossom the miracle to make her a mother. Perhaps that was the reason she felt like she was in love with him because, before and after him, it was only him. . “Let’s go, honey,” Alice called to her son, while sipping her orange juice. “Let’s go, let’s go, Mom!” The little boy of her eyes ran ahead after seeing his mom running behind him. Hand by hand, a young mom and a little angel ran to the nearest avenue to get a taxi. It wasn’t so late, the
What should she have said? Ian had called to that boy before she could explain something. The least she wanted was to give false hopes to her son about his father but regrettably, whatever she wanted to say was left aside.“Mom?” asked Joseph trying to figure out who he was.“Say hi, my cute angel, he´s an old friend whom I met today.” Alice smiled making Joseph to feel confident again.“Hi, cutie, my name is Ian,” said Ian bending over him.“Hi, my name is Joseph Gabriel, nice to meet you.” Joseph extended his hand formally. No matter how cute he smiled to Ian or how polite he seemed, that name brought him thousands of memories. That was the name of the unfaithful man who tore Alice´s heart apart, was she a masochist to name her son after that cruel person?Alice looked at them. Her son seemed perfectly fine with the man in front of her.“How was it that my mom found you, Mr. Ian?” asked Joseph politely.“Mr. Ian? Aren´t we already friends?” Ian raised an eyebrow.“My mom says I have
A new opportunity came into the lives of two people. Alice, the one who never let herself fall since the birth of her son and Joseph, the little boy who was starting to understand there are mistakes in life that deserve to be forgiven. The following day, Alice woke up nervously. She couldn't sleep as she used to. That day she had the interview that Ian had talked her about days before. She was the first one to wake up. Alice prepared breakfast for everyone in the house and then, she went to wake up her son who opened his little eyes at the first call of his mom. He welcomed that beautiful day with a big smile and a surprising amount of energy. To tell the truth, days were more beautiful, brighter and lighter than before due to the presence of that person who seemed to give everything for nothing. Finally, after having done their morning routine, Alice and Joseph arrived at his school. His mom, being all nervous bent over to give his son a kiss. “Okay, my son, I need you to do
Past and present, it was truth that past is what makes our present and then, our future. There was nothing left in the past that wouldn´t have consequences for our present and future. Every day, every minute, every action and every though we have is like a brick we use when we’re building our houses, the house that would save us in our future and will be the same house which we can save someone else’s heart. Past and present, they always come as one. Life couldn’t without one or the other. Gabriel knew that from the moment that past he believed he had buried in the darkest corner of his heart, had come back for just one reason. If it was right according to Rosa’s words some years ago, that kid could be his. “I can't believe it, Gabriel. I can't... Are you sure of that?" Her mom questioned him, leading her hands to her mouth. “I don't know, sometimes I think I saw her clearly but other times I just... I just, don't know.” Gabriel sighed heavily. “Do you know what it means if it'
What is a mistake? What is the difference between a mistake and a lesson? And, a failure, what is a failure in life? Is it true that after a failure, there´s no life? Maybe, what people don’t understand is, after a failure, after a mistake and after a lesson, there is always a life. A mistake from the past. What is a mistake from the past when this one has just been buried in the deepest corner of someone's heart carelessly? But what no one wants to know is; a mistake from the past can mean present and future at the same time. In front of Gabriel's eyes was that woman, the woman he hurt the most back in those days when the innocence of her eyes always healed his lonely heart, that woman who clung to him even if her insides told her not to do that, the same woman who he got everything from but... didn't know how to cherish her yet is was enough a stumble to lose everything. A mistake from the past, Gabriel was finally realizing the price of that mistake, because watching them from th
Ian’s smile got bigger at watching the image in front of him. With that smile, Alice could assure that he was lighting up the entire world and maybe, her entire world, even if she didn’t want to affirm it. For sure, that smile of his lit up Joseph’s world. In his little heart he knew in him the promised father figure was. Joseph got up from his mother’s lap and went to Ian, who extended his arms as soon as he saw that baby coming to him. Alice smiled, trying to hide the question in her gesture she was receiving Ian with. Something was for sure, Ian was going to stay, and he was not going to move from the spot where the sunlight of her smile warmed him up carefully. What should she do when he was not afraid of the past turning into their present? What should she do when she was starting to like his company and the way he was making her part of his hectic life? “How have you been, sweet pie? Have you finished your homework?” Ian lifted him up in his arms. He couldn’t compare the hap
Love, what's love when it comes to being ourselves? Love, what's that bittersweet sound of love when it comes to being just our sorrows? Love, what's love when it comes to struggling with our own heart that just knows how to cry out the name of the person who made us believe in love once? Not all seasons would be the same, not even months, not even days and hours would be lived as happily as those ones she shared with the man she thought would stay forever by her side. Many memories, many laughs, many blessed days she had lived by his side and, for the first time in her life, she had felt valued by a man. How come no one else could see her beauty? How come no one else was there for her as Gabriel was once? The birds didn't chirp anymore, the sunlight coming through her window didn't warm her just as his hugs did, that particular perfume that she swore life had was no longer breathed in by her because, at the end of the day, life didn't have perfume, life was not written in sceneries
A DREAM COME TRUEIn life, thousands of decisions to make; in life, millions of different paths to follow; in life, just one lonely soul who struggles day by day, step by step, second by second to give the best when that person is not even the best version of oneself. What about the world? What about that world which expects the best of us? How wrong the people who say adolescents like to feel they owe the world. They can destroy it and build it as many times as we want. When we are adolescents we don't look for becoming a wrecking ball to destroy the world and build it our way. If people could just understand, we just look for that path, that way we can walk through and feel ourselves. We want to be loved, we want to feel we belong to one heart, we just want to stay in the heart that will become our home eventually for the rest of our lives. Because if something of what people think of a
In the end, there is no such medicine as time. Time heals wounds, time makes us better people, time makes us understand those things we could not understand before. The present hurts while the future sleeps and the past dies. No one knows the reasons of the events that we're going through at a given moment until later the threads of life came to be just one, giving meaning to all the things that didn't have in their moment. Everything is time, nothing comes if it's not by time which leads it to us. There is no answer that doesn't depend on time. If we, most of the time, don't have reasons for all our acts, how do we pretend to have the answers that life has just to the questions that make for the same life? The past and present beget the future, that one which we're more afraid of.Learning to love is part of life, waiting for the right one is knowing what we deserve.Alice had closed a very important cycle i
The seconds went by quickly, not even Alice expected what she had seen for the last time, because it was enough a long step from Gabriel to approach her and then, with no warning of his intentions, his hands behind her back head and their lips together again after seven years. If she was not in love with him, that kiss would speak for her. Alice didn't close her eyes, not even for a second, she wanted to get rid of him, but regrettably, she felt nothing compared to the manly strength he put forth. He had finally reached her lips, he was kissing how he had wished to do since the first moment he met her and Alice. She was about to lose who she loved the most as a consequence of that unwanted and undesired kiss.Alice's heart broke at the mere moment she saw Ian with teary eyes looking at them. Damn her fortune was, the man she loved the most, the man she thought about living the rest of her life with was staring at them with some t
Feeling the headache killing her, she couldn’t process what her friend was telling Alice.“Alice?” named Dayanna, as she hadn’t heard Gabriel’s voice.“Yes, Dayanna?” replied Alice, sitting up on the grim.“Congratulations, you're going to be a mom!”Her breath stopped, her mind stop sending messages to her body and suddenly, she just became a living body that acted by instinct. Those words that her friend said had come directly into her heart. She couldn't believe what she just heard, it couldn't be possible. Once again, she was pregnant, once again a life was inside her and suddenly, she felt the same inexperienced teenager that was pregnant with Gabriel’s baby but now, with the difference she didn't need that baby to cling to life. Now, she would be able to give him or her life not the other way around as happened at the day she gave birth to Jos
It'd been three days since the day Gabriel swore to get closer to Alice and then, have her heart again. He was convinced she was still in love with him, he was convinced she tried to have feelings for Ian just because she wanted to forget Gabriel. In his mind, Alice was still his, it was just a matter of time to make her believe in the world he was starting to build for her and his son. They were a family already, he just needed to get closer to her. He had changed and it was time for him to show Alice the new person he had become after the pain Gabriel had caused her.Gabriel just couldn’t stand the idea of Alice thinking about Ian all the time. Gabriel couldn’t stand the idea of Alice working not to let Ian down. If Alice could see into Ian’s eyes, everything would be different, she wouldn’t have to worry about being the perfect woman in front of him, because if Gabriel had to be aware of something that was, he had been the first one to make it
What happens when one color gets combined with another one? What happens when feelings come into the one person's heart and that person's feelings come into our hearts? What happens with the merger of water and earth? What happens when the sound and the words combine and make themselves one? What does it have to happen to exist the magic, the magic of love?Maybe all that needs to happen to exist magic, genuine feelings, colors that we don't see frequently is to hear the crying of a new born.“It's a boy!"There, where Alice felt she couldn't hold anymore what she was feeling and after having pushed for the third and last time, she could finally lean back her head at the same time her body seemed to lay down as well.It was done, all she feared one day, all she couldn't imagine because of her fears had ended there. It was over, one cycle had been ended when she felt how her body could lay down an
Once upon a time, there was a meaningless life waiting to be lived. Once upon a time, there was a meaningless life waiting to be cherished, because that is a life for, isn’t it?What about those people who spend their lives complaining about the things they had and they don’t have? What about that life that was given to them to be lived as they pleased but preferred to look into other people’s lives to see what theirs are lacking?Life is not only a process we have to live because, first of all, “have to” it’s not the phrase we should use when we refer to life. Life is a pleasure, life is seeing that hopeless world turning into a world full of magic, of colors, of wishes, of love. What happens when our lives get stained by the colors of negative feelings? What happens when negative feelings start growing in our hearts? The truth is nothing happens, the truth is everyone feels –at some point in their lives– tho
There were just ruins in the hearts of the people who were taking hands in that place where the truth had destroyed more than had healed. How long had they been waiting for that moment? Gabriel’s heart knew that, his heart always knew there was something else, something she had to be hiding. Those sleepless nights, those dreams, those screams in his heart and finally, that moment between his son and him.Stars, heaven, God and maybe, all of them at the same time had heard Joseph’s prayers before going to bed. Just heaven knew how much he had prayed for that moment, because not even his mother was aware of the pain she had caused him by running away from the person that hurt her but not her son. In the end, Joseph was not guilty, he had just been a victim there.Human beings make mistakes, some of them make bigger mistakes and others just make mistakes, but, what about those ones who mess up with their lives so that innocent ones make them pay for what they
It was still difficult to look back to those days where the sadness was all reigned in her life. It was still difficult to remember. There was no one else there but her baby and the family that took care of her. Yes, she was thankful to those people who were with her at the most difficult moment in her life, but that didn’t mean she didn’t want to give her son another life, the kind of life her son saw in his friends. We can’t have everything at once. That’s right but, why did her son have to pay the consequences of the mistakes of those people? It was hard to remember or even, to look back at those memories just for one second and see herself taking care of her son when she was giving up. Maybe, if Gabriel had been there, the present and the future would be different. But among the pain, among the sad moment, among the tears, the loneliness, the regret, the anger was Ian and the present, in that present where she had finally said everything.
