The Warning

"What?" Liam blurted out shocked by his sudden outburst.

"Isn't Alice your niece? I heard her call you uncle very clearly. Aren't you here to pick her up?" Jace asked, his brown eyes piercing Liam's own as he folded his small hands, standing in front of his sister. Jade also looked at Liam as if supporting her brother's question.

"Actually, her driver's going to pick her up." Liam chuckled nervously as he rubbed his hands together.

"Why would her driver pick her up when her uncle's here? Is that how much you hate your niece? I'm suddenly glad I don't have an uncle, what about you, Jade?" Jace asked.

"Me too." Jade shrugged, supporting her brother's words.

"No, it's not that I hate my niece. She won't let me drive her home anyway. And I wasn't even here for to see her." Liam tried to explain.

"You weren't even here for her? She wouldn't let you drive her home?" Jace asked unbelievably.

"But you didn't even make an attempt." Jade pointed out.

"Right, Sally? If your uncle came to your school, wouldn't you agree to go home with him if he asks?" Jade turned to Sally and Sally nodded slowly.

"This man has no manners. Pushing away those close to him just to help those he doesn't even know." Jade muttered underneath her breath and oddly, the word sounded familiar enough to Liam. He had pushed Alexandra away just to take care of Stella, a stupid decision.

"Thank you for helping us so much but you should try finding your niece." Jace said and nodded to the direction Alice went through signifying for him to leave.

"I..."

"My mom would be here anytime soon and I wouldn't want her to see us talking to a stranger, she'll be mad." Jade said, interrupting Liam again.

"Okay fine." Liam surrendered.

"I'll see you again." He said.

"Don't." Jace warned and Liam smiled, scattering his hair funnily before he walked away.

"What was that?" Jade eyed him and quickly helped Jace arranged his hair before they walked to the car park together with Sally to wait for Alexa.

*~*~*~

"Oh my God, kids. I'm really sorry I'm late." Alexa said as she rushed towards the kids, hugging them one after the other, including Sally.

"Good afternoon ma." Sally greeted respectfully and Alexandra smiled at her lovingly.

"Mum, what took you so long?" Jace whined.

"I'm really sorry, I lost track of time. To compensate, I'll bought you guys ice cream." She said and Jace rolled his eyes, smiling a little.

"What happened to your hand, Jade?" Alexa asked, noticing the stain of fresh blood on her bandage.

"Someone pushed...."

"I fell, mom." Jade interrupted Jace quickly and he sighed slowly.

"But don't worry, it doesn't hurt." She added and Alexa's sighed slowly.

"I'm taking you to the hospital again." She said and Jade nodded as they all got into the car.

"Mommy, we saw a man who Jace looks like." Jade suddenly said as she took her ice cream. Fortunately, Alexa bought three cups so Sally had one too.

"A man who Jace looks like?" Alexa asked and Jade nodded.

"He's Alice's uncle. You know Alice right? Alice Reed?" Jade asked for confirmation.

"Alice Reed?" Alexa muttered.

"Reed Miller's daughter?" She asked.

"Yes. That man was her uncle. He had brown eyes just like Jace and also had black hair and he even helped me treat my wound..." Before Jade ended her story, Alexa already had a hint. It was Liam.

Why was Liam at the school? Definitely not to pick Alice up because as far as she could remember, Reed Miller would never have anything to do with Liam, considering he hated him so much for being the heir to all his brother's properties. So why was Liam in the school?

"Did that man say any thing to you?" She asked slowly.

"No, he didn't. He was acting too nice to Jade and I have to interrupt them. I don't really like him, mommy." Jace said and Alexa took a deep breath. Only if Jace knew that was the father he had been waiting for all this while.

"He was just being nice since Alice spoke rudely about your dad, I guess." Sally said unknowingly and both Jade and Jace looked at her immediately.

"I'm sorry." Sally muttered, understanding they didn't like talking about those things with their mom.

"It's fine, Sally. So you guys weren't going to tell me someone bullied you?" Alexa shot at her children.

"Mom, I know how you feel when we bring up dad's matter, that's why we didn't want to tell you." Jade said slowly.

"It's fine, Jade. Whenever someone bullies you, you have to tell me. I'll report it to the school authority and make sure it never happens again." Alexa said and Jade nodded slowly.

"Including you, Sally. Make sure to let me know when someone bullies you, okay?" She said and Sally nodded. Alexa got to Sally's house and stopped the car, taking Sally in before coming back to the car.

"Jace, you did well protecting your sister from that man." She said slowly as she looked at the kids through the mirror.

"But why?" Jade asked.

"You can't trust everyone you see, Jade. That's why I keep telling you not to talk to strangers." Alexandra said sternly and Jade pouted.

"But he didn't look like he was going to harm us." She argued again and Alexa shot her an angry look.

"Listen to me, both of you. Don't ever have anything to do with that man, okay?" She said.

"Okay, mom." Jace said immediately while Jade just nodded, resting back on her seat in annoyance. She even stopped taking the ice cream and Alexa sighed slowly, confused.

On getting home, she picked her phone and made a call to Doreen.

"Fix a lunch meeting with Liam Jordans at 2pm tomorrow." She gave her instructions clearly.
