The air was warm in front of the small building; she breathed it in, savoring it like some kind of medicine. Chapter: 16.******The day was warm and muggy as if the sky had been drenched in water. The heat from the asphalt pavement was enough to make one sweat profusely, even with sunglasses on. A group of children played in the playground with a swing set and monkey bars, but the adults were nowhere to be seen, probably hiding away under the shades. Are children immune to harsh weather? Chapter: 17.******Sat on his desk, looking over the papers spread across it, Conri let out a soft sigh of annoyance. Why was it that no one seemed to be able to do anything right in his absence? He looked around at the office he had commandeered from the other Alphas of their respective Packs, and then back down at the papers scattered across his desk. His fingers drummed along the tabletop, and then he picked up one of the papers and began flicking through it lazily. It didn't even take him much time before his attention returned to the paperwork. The tables were all polished to a shine with white tablecloths adorning the surface, and a large vase of roses sat in one corner to give them an air of romance. The chairs had fresh chrysanthemums placed around the edges, which gave off an extra scent. Even the silverware was pristine, gleaming brightly under the light of hundreds of candles lit up throughout the room. It looked like something from a magazine set.
