LOGINCELINE’s POV
- While in the car, Astrid was unable to refrain from reacting to what happened earlier, even though she hadn’t yet inquired about the reason behind my actions. “Oh, my gosh. My brain still can’t process what happened earlier.” Astrid reacted again while driving. “But if Hanna mentioned that she and Lance had an affair, I might be unable to restrain myself from reacting towards Hanna. Good thing she and Lance don’t have an affair.” “Astrid, just drive first. We might get into an accident if you don’t focus on the road.” Christine disobeyed her. “Yeah, we need to get to the restaurant so that we can find out all the details from Celine. Fasten your seatbelt.” And as usual, when Astrid said that, she sped up driving. What was supposed to be a half hour drive for us turned into only about ten minutes, including the parking. We went straight to the restaurant we often go to and because Christine reserved, someone assisted us to the VIP floor, which is on the second floor. “They said the VIP room was full, so they just brought us here.” Christine said when we sat down. We ordered food first. While the two ordered, I looked at the menu to see what I could order. I grinned as I observed that their sushi is now accessible, but I am unable to eat raw foods currently. I need to take care of my pregnancy. I want my baby to stay safe. “Celine, are you still ordering the same thing?” Christine asked me. “But don’t order sushi, I already ordered a platter of sushi.” Astrid said. I smiled at the two before looking at the server, who was waiting for my order. “Uh, your Caesar salad is fresh vegetables, right?” “Yes, ma’am. All the food we will serve is fresh delivery, from meat, seafood, vegetables and fruits.” “That’s good to hear that. Uh, so. I would like to order a mushroom creamy soup but make sure the broth is fresh milk. Vegetable salad, but don’t add any sauce. For the spaghetti, please use vegetable oil. That’s all.” I said, then I returned the menu. “How about a drink, ma’am?” “Ah, yes. I would like two glasses of fresh orange juice.” The server repeated our orders before she left. Once I look at the two, I see their raised eyebrows, relaxed upper eyelids, and jaws, as if they are confused while looking at me. “What was that?” Astrid was the first to react. “What are your orders–I mean, there’s nothing wrong with what you ordered, they’re all healthy foods. But are you on a diet or something?” Christine seized a loud intake of breath before asking. “Are you pregnant, Celine?” I nodded and smiled. “Yes. I am four weeks pregnant.” “Oh, my gosh!” At the same time Astrid’s hand flew to her mouth, her eyes turned red because of her tears. “Congratulations. I’m so happy for you and Lance.” “Congratulations Celine. My second child will have a playmate soon. I’m so happy for you.” I became emotional and teary-eyed by their reaction. The sheer happiness in their expressions is undeniable, a stark contrast to the lackluster reactions I received the day before. “Is Lance already aware of this?” Astrid asked. I was stunned by that question, whereupon I remembered what Lance told me. “Also, about what happened earlier? Why did you ask Hanna like that?” Astrid added. The smile on their lips faded. “What happened, Celine?” Christine asked with concern. “Wasn’t yesterday you’re celebrating your third wedding anniversary with Lance?” I took a breath before telling them what happened. I didn’t state that Lance had prior knowledge of our baby, as they might inquire about Lance’s reaction upon finding out that we are expecting a child. “Lance can’t divorce you. He needs you, he needs a wife.” Christine commented that who knows about the rule of Lance’s family clan and I also found out about this matter from her. “No!” Astrid said loudly, almost grabbing everyone’s attention here. “No matter what Lance’s reason is, he should not have given you divorce papers. Wow, I didn’t think he was that kind of asshole.” Meanwhile, Astrid’s voice almost dominates this floor. “Astrid, calm down.” Christine advised her. Astrid nodded and let out a sigh. “Okay, I’ll calm down.” Then she looked back at me. “And for you, Celine. After the effort you made, he just made you wait. For what? Give you divorce papers? What you should do is sign the divorce papers and leave Lance.” My eyes widened at Astrid’s suggestion. I didn’t expect her to say that. “I can’t. I love Lance. Another thing is that I don’t want my child to grow up without a father to recognize and having a broken family.” Astrid fanned herself with one hand even though it wasn’t hot and the air-conditioner was on. “Lance makes my blood heat with annoyance, but you’re right, there is a child involved.” Astrid took a deep breath as she calmed down again. “Whatever you decision, we’re here for you and–what the actual fuck!?” I followed what Astrid was looking at which made her head heat again—I should not have looked at it. I saw Lance being with another woman. The woman has a fair skin color, her black hair is bouncy, her body-con dress shows off the sexy curves of the woman’s body. What made my chest tighten the most was how Lance looked and smiled at the woman with him. There was joy and a smile in Lance’s eyes. He is also so gentle with the woman as if the woman is a fragile object. “Why did Freya come back?” I turned my attention to Astrid. “Are you acquainted with that woman?” “Yes.” There was annoyance in Astrid’s voice. “That woman is a fucking bitch. We need to confront them.” Before I could stop Astrid, she stood up and my eyes widened as she pulled out her gun from her leather jacket. “Astrid, wait!” By the time I stood up, I almost jumped in surprise, following Astrid firing a gun in Lance’s direction. Christine came to me to support me and cover my ears while Astrid fired her gun again. People screamed in fear until they all left together and we were the only ones left on the VIP floor. When I glanced at Astrid again, she aimed her gun at Lance. Lance also pointed a gun at Astrid, while one of his hands hugged the woman’s waist to protect her.CELINE POV-Lance pulled away from holding me. He caressed my right cheek, followed by bringing our foreheads to rest against each otherHe closed his eyes and slowly brought his lips closer to mine. When his lips touched mine, I closed my eyes too.“Mummy! Daddy!”He broke off the kiss in a hurry and glanced in the direction of the door. “I’ll open the door.” I said, laughing. “You, take a shower first and change your clothes.”He did nothing but sigh and get his clothes.I stood up and opened the door for our triplets.“Mummy!” the three called out excitedly, bounding in joyfully and they entered. After I closed the door, it hit me that they had identical pajama sets.“Wow, sweethearts! You three look all cute and adorable in matching outfits. How did it happen that you’re all wearing the same pajamas?”Sunny and Skye have a lot of pajamas with the same design in different colors. But that design is not repeated, so there are only two designs.“Daddy told us he would borrow my ot
CELINE POV-No other happiness could match the joy we felt during our very first shared meal with Starr. There wasn’t a second we weren’t all smiling because of our children. We didn’t get to eat together with Hannah and Giovanni. Hannah had to leave right away, her brother was looking for her, and Giovanni tagged along after her. Once we finished eating, each of us headed to our own rooms.Even though Mom and Dad would want to get more bonding time with their grandchildren, they need to rest more, most especially because they have to return to Italy tomorrow.Of our triplets, Skye and Sunny are the ones who brought Starr to her bedroom. As for me and Lance, when we come into our room, I can’t help but let my emotions show – all this happiness is just too much to keep in.The arrangement and place of the things hadn’t changed. The bed looked like it hadn’t been used.“I miss our room.” I told him.Lance hugged my waist gently, “I missed you so much too.”“I said, the one thing I mis
CELINE POV-“It’s cold!”“There’s so much stuff!”“The roof is so high!”“Does the roof reach the sky?”“Wow! I can’t see the end of the house!”“There’s so much color!”“The light, so much ligh!”“What’s that?” Starr pointed at the TV. “Is that a display too? Why is it that color, it’s scary -- ah! I saw that in your room while you were sleeping, mummy!”“That’s a flatscreen television, sweetheart.” I replied.“Does it have any funny talking people on it?”“Shows on? You mean if the tv works?”“Yes.”“Yes, sweetheart. There’s a TV in your room too”“Really? Can I use that?”“You’re allowed to touch and use every things you see here,” Lance said in response. “Just watch out for other items so you won’t get hurt or wounded.“Yes, daddy!” Starr replied cheerfully then pointed to the sofa. “Can I sit there?” “Absolutely, sweetheart.” Lance said cheerfully, then put Starr down from being carried.Starr dashed to the sofa and took a seat there, and we followed her right there.“Mummy, da
CELINE POV-“Starr, let’s stay in the same room!” Sunny said with a big smile. “You could sleep in mine, or I could sleep in yours , whichever you want!”We’re on our way home to the mansion right now. Hannah is the one who fetched us, together with Giovanni.Sunny was on my lap, Starr was on Lance’s and Skye was in the middle of us.“We can stay in Skye’s room to sleep too!” Sunny said, making yet another cheerful suggestion.“No! I don’t want to!” Skye refused. “Skye, you don’t want us to sleep with you?” Sunny’s question, tinged with sadness and a little bit of that helpless, please-feel-sorry-for-me vibe.“That’s not it – okay. Fine.” At the end, Skye was powerless against his sibling’s cute gesture that came with a hint of pleading.Sunny and Starr both clapped and even bumped fists, having united to take on Skye.I caught Starr’s gaze seeming to pass right through Sunny and me.I peered outside, it was dark, so streetlights and lights from all kinds of shops and places were a
CELINE POV-Hendrix is just staring at Lance.I wanted to scold Lance for surprising Hendrix like that. But I held back, even I can’t stop the rage that hits me just hearing that person’s name.“Cooperate with me,” Lance stated further, issuing a warning. “I will annihilate your whole family. I will destroy the Phoenix organization, Lucian included. You and your unborn child alone I will remain of your lineage.”I noticed the rise and fall of Hendrix’s Adam’s apple.I understood Hendrix’s feelings. Before, he’d often open up to me – no matter Lucian’s mistakes, he understood him. He did this to make him feel not alone and to atone, thinking he was to blame for his state. Hendrix never showed it, but Lucian was his most precious person.“Phoenix organization, are still plenty of hiding place hard to track down. Show me those places so I can meet your brother in person and face him once for all.”“What benefit will I gain from cooperating with you and betraying my brother to you?”“Fr
CELINE POV-“What are your plans after you get out of here?” I asked Bianca as we settled into the visitor’s chair facing each other.“I don’t know yet.”“Don’t you have anything you want to do? A dream to chase? We’ll help you. Not because we owe you anything, but because I’m still your friend.”“Thank you Celine. After everything happened and what I did, in the end, you still think of me that way.”“There was a time I didn’t trust you, but in the end your love for my children still prevailed. Had it not been for your support and the care you’ve given my children, we might have fallen apart.”“Believe it or not, I treated them like real kids. I was so in love with him that I let it blind me, so I did everything he told me to.”“And I’m grateful for that, especially when I think about how you cared for Starr.”She smiled in response.“By the way, we’d love to give you a place to stay. Pick whatever spot or house size feels right to you. As long as you’re still figuring out your next
