LOGINCELINE’s POV
- “Celine, what do you need from Hanna?” Astrid asked me. “I just have something important to ask her.” I answered, almost in a whisper. I saw in the rear-view mirror Astrid open her mouth, but she closed it and did not ask again. In the passenger seat, Christine turned to me and smiled. I returned her with a small smile, then I looked outside. After what happened last night with Lance, I haven’t talked to him again, nor have I been able to look at him until I’ve met Hanna. Hanna Matthew is Lance’s right hand or underboss in his organization. Hanna is often with Lance when Lance transacts in the underground. Also, Hanna once lived in the mansion we live in now. Hanna only left the mansion because of me. Hanna told me the one time I talked to her she knows her boundaries as Lance’s friend and that it is not good to see if she will stay in the mansion as her friend Lance is married. I was so hurt last night and felt bad for my baby. My baby is still in blood and growing, yet everyone is important to me and I love the one who wants to lose my baby. I ran to my room last night and spent most of the night crying. Today I accompanied Astrid and Christine to the place where Hanna resides. Apart from not wanting Lance to be aware of my plans to see Hanna, I made sure that the personal driver he provided did not accompany me. I also don’t know where Hanna lives. Hanna’s big brother is a friend of Astrid’s and Christine, so they know Hanna’s place. It wasn’t long before Christine serenely called me because we were about to get out of the car. It was only at that moment that I realized we were in the basement parking lot. “Let’s discuss your problem after we finish going to meet with Hanna.” I have already reserved at your favorite restaurant.” “T-Thank you...” I almost stammered. As much as I could, I stopped my tears from falling. “Let’s go.” I nodded and then we went out together. As Astrid, she looked at me and smiled. We proceeded directly into the elevator and Astrid reached the highest floor of this building. “Hanna and Dylan live in the penthouse.” We quickly reached the floor we were going to and the second time if Christine hadn’t called me, I wouldn’t have noticed that we were here. Arriving at the front door of the penthouse, it was Astrid who rang the doorbell. The second Astrid pressed the doorbell, someone opened the door from the inside and Hanna’s big brother, Dylan, appeared. “Astrid, ma’am Christine?” Dylan called out to the in surprise until his eyes landed on me. “M-Ma’am Celine.” I think Dylan calling our names was his way of greeting us. “Is Hanna here? Ma’am Celine wants to talk to her.” Astrid said immediately. “Hanna is in her room,” Dylan said as he opened the door wide. “Come in first.” “That should be the first thing you do.” Astrid commented that the three of them just laughed. For the moment we entered the living room, Dylan called Hanna on the second floor. Not long after, they were coming down together. “By the way, do you want something to eat or drink? Water, juice, wine, tea?” Dylan offered us. “No thanks. We will also leave immediately.” I heard Astrid’s answer. For the time being, my gaze fell on Hanna. I didn’t take it off until she got close to me. “Ma’am Celine, my brother said that you want to talk to me?” Hanna asked me in her polite way. “Are you having an affair with Lance?” I asked frank. I haven’t even thought about how to ask this matter. All I want to know is the truth. Last night, I couldn’t imagine what could be Lance’s reason for wanting a divorce. Lance needs a wife to keep him in his position as mafia boss of their clan. That was one of Lance’s family rules. Without a wife, someone can acquire the position Lance maintains in the underground. That’s why Lance needs me as his wife, as his display. “What the fuck!?” Dylan’s spontaneous reaction. “Hanna, answer her question right fucking now!” My question surprised even Christine and Astrid, and Hanna’s widened eyes and reaction showed that she was also surprised by it. “N-No, ma’am.” Hanna stammered and then looked at her brother. “I am not a mistress of anyone, for god’s sake.” Hanna looked back at me. “I don’t have an affair with any man who has a husband or anyone. I am so single right now.” “Why did you stutter at your first answer?” I asked again. “Because your out of nowhere question surprised me, Ma’am,” she immediately explained. It’s true. The reason for her stuttering is valid and Hanna seems to tell the truth. From the moment I married Lance, Hanna never came between me and Lance under any circumstances. “Are all your answers true, Hanna?” his older brother asked Hanna. “Of course. Every word I uttered is true.” Hanna defends herself. “Then we will go ahead. Thank you for your honest answer, Hanna,” I said. “I hope Lance doesn’t get to know about this.” “Of course, ma’am. I won’t say anything to Lance–to boss Lance.” I looked at Dylan and was going to ask him not to tell Lance about my coming here, but Astrid was ahead of me. “As for you, Dylan, don’t talk about it to Lance.” “Yeah! Yeah, I would think it never happened.” Dylan replied to Astrid. “Good.” Astrid approved of Dylan’s answer. I again said goodbye and thanked Dylan and Hanna, also apologized to them again. “It’s fine ma’am.” Hanna answered me with a sweet smile. While we were walking out, I waited for Hanna to call me to ask about what I asked her, most of all I waited for Hanna to ask about what was happening with me and Lance, but until we got out of their penthouse, I didn’t hear any questions from Hanna. Here I proved that Hanna had no intention of intervening between Lance and me. Hanna, one of Lance’s best friends, is not the one that Lance is having an affair with. So what is Lance’s reason or who is the reason Lance wants to divorce me?CELINE POV-I turned my gaze to Lance, in surprise, silently asked for an explanation.Lance offered a faint smile as a response, also not knowing the reason behind it.“Sweetheart, Starr,” Lance called softly. “I’ll come sit next to Mummy Celine, do you want that?”“Y-Yes, d-daddy...” Starr uttered, her voice nearly voiceless.I watched Lance until he sat on the edge of the bed. Following that, he gently lowered Starr onto the bed.“Starr... Can I hug you too?” I asked again. Starr turned to Lance as if asking his permission. Lance, warmly smiled at our daughter then nodded.Starr turned back to me after Lance nodded.I pushed myself up from the bed, leaned in closer to Starr, and enveloped her in a warm hug to show her my love.We slowly began to hear Starr’s sobs until she spoke, “I’m sorry, Mummy. You were put in danger because of me; you slept for so long because of me.”After hearing those words, my heart wept uncontrollably.I broke the hug, I gently caressed Starr’s little c
CELINE’S POV-I hear unfamiliar sounds but there is one voice that is familiar to my ears...“Wife...”Lance.“I promise to be better. I will dedicate myself to being the best father and husband I can be. Please, wake up. I cannot face a life without you. One of my deepest fears is that our children will grow up without your presence, they might inherit my flaws, and I won’t be able to guide them with the same wisdom and grace that you possess. Celine, my love for you is boundless. I love you more than words can express. Please, don’t leave us.”With a gentle, unhurried motion, opened my eyes, feeling as though they had been closed for a very long time.I blinked a few times, trying to get my eyes to focus. For a moment I couldn’t feel my whole body until I felt a warm hand holding my hand followed by warm tears.Following the line of my hand’s direction... my eyes met Lance. His head was bent low, both of his hands gently cradling mine, his thumb softly tracing circles on my skin. “
CELINE’S POV-“We have to go back for Courtney!”“Madame, it’s dangerous. We need to get out of here, especially you.”“Courtney needs to get out of here and get treated too!”He stopped running. He scanned the surroundings, searching for a tree strong enough to bear my weight as he lowered me. With utmost care, he eased me down until my feet touched the ground, then gently supported me against the tree’s trunk.“Use my shirt first, madam.” he instructed, then took off his black clothes.“But what about you? The air is cold.”“If others catch up with you without clothes, my body might be as cold as the wind,” he joked. “I’ll help you get dressed.”He put the sleeve of the shirt on my arm followed by my head. Using his fingertips he helped take off the clothes.“Ronnie, Courtney needs you too. Please, go back to her,” I implored.“I’m just kidding, madame.”“Huh?”“She could get through that, even if she was completely broken.”I suspected he was just trying to downplay it to ease my
CELINE’S POV-“Don’t celebrate yet. I won’t let you be taken from me!” Lucian threatened me.I gave him a mocking smile, deliberately trying to anger him. “What chance do you have against them? What chance do you have against the Fire-Hart organization? Their underbosses alone are enough to defeat you and the entire Phoenix organization. What chance do you have against Lance?”He smirked back, answering my questions with confidence. “Do you think I haven’t prepared for a possible encounter with that Lance?”The smile on my lips gradually disappeared.“Let’s go,” he said, urging me forward. As Lucian grabbed my uninjured arm, I screamed, and in that same instant, a powerful explosion ripped through the air as he suddenly pulled me into a tight embrace, shielding me with his body.He pulled out the gun then aiming at the surroundings. The rest of his men who were with us became alert to the area around us.He looked back at me and asked softly, “Are you okay, Celine? Aren’t you hurt?”
CELINE’S POV-Lucian, with a smile playing on his lips, called out to me, “Hon.”He scanned me, his gaze traveling the length of my body in a slow, deliberate descent. He stared at my wounds and the gunshot I had sustained. His eyes darkened, a storm gathering within his depths as he snarled, “Who did this to you? Point them out to me. Tell me which of my men dared to lay a hand on you.”He took off his coat and placed it on my shoulder in front of my body.“Let’s get out of here, hon.”Before he touched my hand to lift me, I pulled his hand away, throwing his coat in his face.“I would rather die right here, in this spot, than go with you again,” I declared, my voice thick with fury.I did everything I could, I even held my breath so he wouldn’t find me.I forced myself to stand up and walk as far as I could.I saw a bigger and wider tree. I sat down on its roots and leaned against the tree. When he found me, I pretended to listen intently to everything she was saying, hoping she wo
Inside the private jet, Lance received the information sent by Hannah and studied it.Hannah sent another message and Lance read it, ‘Everyone, make sure all your devices are turned off and that you do not use any devices when going to Madame Celine’s location. This is to prevent anyone from tracking that others are entering their location.’After he read it, he sent a message to Ronnie that they would meet at the landing then turned off his phone.Using the tablet, he studied the location where Celine was.A short time passed before the private jet landed. The instant he disembarked, he went to the car where Zak, Johann, and Ronnie were waiting; Ronnie was the driver. While they were on the road, he explained to the three of them which routes they would take to avoid being noticed.“We’ll go ahead alone, that way we won’t attract attention.” He explained again to the three of them.Another reason was that Johann, Ronnie, and Zak preferred only the four of them to go to Celine’s locat
