Broken Slumber

Lily’s POV

My eyes opened a little only to get shut again by the bright surroundings, I tried to open them again and that was when I saw a man, dressed up in a king’s outfit, it looked like that.

Realization dawned upon me as I realized the man was none other than my husband and he was holding my fragile hand tucked up with syringes. It hurts.

He was holding my hand as if I would die any moment, the warmth was enough for me to shed a tear with no emotions, this happens when you are lost inside.

I was just staring at him, my eyes cried on their own while I tried to remember what was happening.

“Xander?” I finally said but my voice came out different as if I had not spoken in months for now but still, I uttered his name with a small voice and a shaky one at that. He froze, he was already still and one could think he was sleeping but now he stiffened and it looked like his breath hitched.
