That Woman

Lily’s POV

Lily Age-Nine

It’s been nine months since Mom left me and now I am getting the hang of where she is. Dad told me she was in a better place and was happy so I should not grieve about her. Although I understood him, I still wanted her back.

Adam was sent to boarding school by Dad because his grades were low and he was not focusing on his studies. I do not want the same to happen to me so I study even though I hate it, I need to study. I do not want to disappoint him. He had been acting strange for a few months, he was a lot happier and I could not understand how. Does he not miss Mom?

My mind went back to the time when we were bidding Mom a goodbye one last time and there was that same lady I saw at the party. Dad was staring at her.

Is she his friend? Maybe not.

“Dad, can I go over to Beatsie’s today?” I ask him and he nods without even hearing me properly. I frown at his behaviour. He doesn't even lift me up anymore, does not kiss me and love me anymore.

I turned
