He wrapped his arms around her tight and she wrapped hers around his neck. She then kissed him hard. He returned the kiss with fervor.
He had missed this just as much as she had. All of his coherent thoughts melted away with her sweet kiss. They had finally found each other once more. It had been a little over a week, but felt like a month.
After a long few seconds he broke their kiss.
“I told you I would find you.” He breathed her scent in and smiled.
She smiled up at him, gently holding his face in her hands as if she were memorizing it like she had done so many times before.
This was real, she thought. He was here for her.
“You did, and
“You're absolutely right! I’m fine. Thank you so much for the party. It was fun and unexpected. You were absolutely right. It was just what we needed.”He smiled at her words and pulled her into his arms. She didn’t know how she felt about the gesture.“Are you lying to me?” His tone was light, but she knew by the question it could turn dark... quick.“No darling. I’m not. I have had so much fun. It’s just…”“What?” He seemed like he was waiting for the shoe to drop.“The baby drains my energy and makes me so tired.”He leaned down and placed a kiss on her forehead.
Not really, she deduced. He could betray her, but she felt like he was being genuine this time. She spoke to him then.“I told him to wait for my signal. ”“You're worried?” He asked.“Of course.” She replied.“Don’t be.” He said.Their was another long pause.Elayna took that as her cue to change into something more comfortable than the chiffon, formal gown she had been wearing. She went into the bathroom and changed into a white tank top and yoga pants she had asked Rosa to hide in the bathroom cabinet for her yesterday.“Let’s go to him, now.”
They arrived at Nick’s home and she was impressed. She had never been here or even knew he could afford something like this. She thought he stayed in the cabin in the mountains. The sleek, minimalistic decor he had chose for his home was a contrasting difference from the cabin in the woods theme, they had shared, as well as the tents and yurts they had inhabited for the last few months. She found herself admiring the all glass pillars that sat on each side of the front door. She was impressed by his versatility and style, but all she wanted to do was be held by him and made love to until she forgot about her problems. Then she would tell him about the baby, but that didn’t happen. He gave her a quick little tour and showed her where his bedroom and the bathroom was. He promised her she was safe and then he left. It was dawn when he finally made it ba
Elayna awoke a few hours later. She didn’t recall when Nick got out of bed. She sat up. What time was it? Nick’s room had no windows. It was decorated very well but it was surrounded in white stone. She got up then. She wrapped the sheets around her. She recalled what he told her last night about where all the different rooms were. She walked down the hallway. It opened up into a large space with a divider. One was the kitchen and dining room area and the other was the living room area. She saw two plates with food on the table, but still no Nick. She walked into the living room area where the sunlight spilled out.She saw him then. He was standing outside on the porch talking on his cell phone. She could see him through the all glass walls. He finally turned around and saw her. He smiled and waved at her. He held up his hand to signal h
He was running on very little sleep with her promise running thru his brain on repeat. She wanted an end to her husband’s control and abuse. He circled the property, then drove to the location he had asked the detective to meet him at. He opened the console in the car to see his beretta gun on top of his papers. He always carried a weapon. He could handle himself without one, but that was his preference. He took it out and put it in the black holster he wore situated on his lower back. He put his black leather jacket on carefully as well. Five minutes later he arrived at his destination. He utilized the back entrance of the abandoned construction site to make sure he hadn’t been ambushed. He was glad he hadn’t been. He saw the detective’s unmarked vehicle it was parked twenty feet in front of the old 1920’s style buil
"Did u see anything strange? Overhear any questionable conversations?” The Detective asked. He looked at him and saw that he was serious. He would not tell him about having to point a gun in Alvarez’s face. So he lied.“Mr. King never did anything in my presence. I was assigned to Mrs. King. I looked out for her and escorted her to different places. That night, I helped Mrs. Black and Mrs.King escape. Mrs. King no longer felt safe in her home or in the state. So she had me take her to a safe place. You found us. Tell me detective, what did she do when you drove her to the airport back to that monster?” He clenched his jaw, already knowing the answer.“She cried.” He furnished. It all dawned on him then. She wasn’t quiet bec
“Why the hell not?” Nick asked. Who would stop him?“Because there are over a hundred guests and you would be compromising her safety as well as the safety of the guests. You have to wait until after this party.” There was a long pause. “I will help you. That is, if you let me.” The Detective promised.Nick was wary to say the least.“I still need to see her.” He sounded defeated.“I think I can arrange that.” Pete agreed.“You know, I’ve been talking to a Detective and he said he could help us if we have evidence.”
He was so joyous at the thought. No more secrets. No more hiding his love for her.“Yes, speaking of starting our lives together there is something I have been meaning to tell you about. When I was with Bradley I became ill and fainted. He had the doctor take a look and she says I’m pregnant. It’s your baby Nick.”He looked like he was in shock.“You’re pregnant? I can’t believe it.”She stood up then and he wrapped his left arm around her waist and put his right hand on her abdomen. She smiled at the tender gesture. Everything felt right in the world. She didn’t know for how long. It felt as if she had
