Elayna was crouched down on the floor hiding in the bathroom. Her full weight of one-hundred and twenty three pounds was pressed against the door. Her heart felt as if it would beat out of her chest. Her entire body was shaking. There were loud bangs coming from the opposite side of the door. They were so hard it shook the doors and vibrated through her small frame, only increasing her state of fear.
She felt trapped and helpless.
“Open up! Open this fucking door! You little bitch!” Her husband yelled through the door.
“No! Please! Bradley, you’re scaring me!” She yelled back through the door.
“Open the door!” He boomed. He sounded manic to her now.
She couldn’t do it. Not after what just had occurred. He had physically assaulted her just mere moments ago. At first, everything had seemed fine. Nothing was out of the ordinary.
He had walked into her suite while she was finishing up getting dressed for the day. She had greeted him with her usual kiss on his lips. Shortly after that he had announced they would be attending a business luncheon tomorrow. She had jokingly told him she thought the last business luncheon they had attended for the club he owned had been boring. He had exploded in anger, pushing her down hard on the bedroom floor and dragged her by her hair around her room screaming at her.
As soon as he let go of her beautiful raven black hair she bolted for the bathroom. She had made it in the knick of time. She had quickly closed and locked the double doors behind her. It all felt surreal. Her husband had slowly turned into a monster.
They had been married for three years now. She knew she should be accustomed to his temper, even though this had only happened a few times before in the past, and he had apologized profusely for those times. She always felt obligated to forgive him. For the past few months his physical abuse was increasing. She had learned to keep her mouth shut, to play her part, and to look her very best at all times.
That was all he really asked of her. To be his pretty decorative ornament. He was extremely wealthy, and handsome for his age, which was forty-five. He was considered extremely successful in his field of expertise, which was investments and banking.
She felt like she shouldn’t complain because the physical abuse had been sporadic. Lately, it was becoming increasingly stressful to play the ‘hot trophy wife’ role he had assigned to her. She was becoming even more isolated by him day by day. He refused to let her socialize with anyone he didn’t approve of, and since most of the Elite Society didn’t care for her husband he in turn snubbed them in business and personal affairs, leaving her with no real friends. She barely had anyone she could call a friend that didn’t work for them. She realized now it was a tactic he used to control her.
Minutes had passed with an eerie quiet and it would seem that her husband had given up on his angry tirade. She slid down the bathroom door in tears. Her life was a complete mess. She had married a man more for his money than his heart and now she was living the consequences. She was trapped. She couldn’t go back home. There was none.
She had been born an only child and her parents died in a train accident a year after her and Bradley’s wedding. She had no one and nowhere to go. Only her husband. Bradley knew that and used it to his advantage. There was a light knock on the bathroom door, and she heard a familiar male voice.
“Ma’am, it’s Peter. He’s left. It’s safe to come out now.”
It was Peter. He was apart of her husbands Security detail. He had always been kind to her, or as kind as he could be.
She exhaled. A tear falling from her right eye. She was glad he couldn’t see her.
“Thank you, Peter.” She said with genuine gratitude, loud enough to be heard through the thick door.
“Thank you, Peter.” She said with genuine gratitude, loud enough to be heard through the thick door. She stood up then, walked over to the mirror and looked at her reflection. Her long black hair, which was usually neatly placed and lustrous was now disheveled and slightly matted. Some parts of her scalp were bleeding from where he had drug her with it. Her makeup was tear streaked. She picked up her brush from the counter and began to gently comb her hair. When it looked similar to how she had fixed it earlier she picked up a small towel and wet the corner of it with water from the bathroom sink. She used it to wipe away the blood on her scalp and the corners of her hairline. Her head was throbbing when she was finally done. She then ran cold water from the sink and splashed it on her face to help with the puffiness from the crying, as well as wash away the tear streaks. She patted her face dry with a hand towel that hung on the gold towel rack beside the sink. And q
She smiled and nodded then, knowing she couldn’t ever speak to anyone about what had happened between she and her husband behind closed doors. She had known nothing about Bradley hiring more security. It was something he did often. Always changing them out. Peter was the only one that he had kept on for an extended amount of time. Before she had married her husband she had enjoyed the simple luxury of driving to a mall and shopping alone and unnoticed. Now, she dreaded it. She was now considered among the creme de la creme. Paparazzi were always around the corner. Ready to snap a photo of the very rich and handsome couple, Elayna and Bradley King. She was always escorted by security. Alone, or with him. That security had been Pete from day one. Over the last two years she’d grown fond of Pete. Like a little sister to a big brother. One who looked out for her. “Welcome, Nick. I’m sure Pete has informed you of your duties.” “Yes, ma’am. I ha
Pete was beginning to fear for Mrs. King's safety each day he stayed on. She tried hard to hide and cover the bruises that ass of a man left, but he knew. She was alone in the world and Mr. King was using it to her advantage. “Your boss's wife is smokin’,” Nick commented after both of them had watched her leave the room. Peter smiled at nick's observation. “Don’t be an asshole.” “I’m not. I’m being factual.” “Well you may want to keep those facts to yourself. Anyone catch you talking like that you’ll be out on your ass,for sure.” “Easy, Pete.” His friend seemed uptight. He didn’t know what the hell was going on, and for his first day th
He watched some climb the stairs and go to Mrs. King’s bedroom suite. He followed them up and heard her tell the maids to enter. They obeyed. Seconds later, They came out of the room and exited the suite. Until finally the last one shut the bedroom doors and then more maids with flowers entered and began filling her suite up with more flower arrangements. Mr. King was proving to be over the top. All Nick could think of was what Pete had said to him when he had asked him if there was something he was missing. He could see now with the position he had just been hired for. He wouldn’t miss a thing, especially when it involved his employer’s wife... Waking up from her nap Elayna noticed her suite was filled with flowers. They sat on every surface welcoming her. The aroma sweetening the air. She use to think that this gesture made by her husband was romantic, but now she found it redundant and mech
“Thank you, Laura.” “Have a good night, ma’am.” She said as she opened the doors into her suite. Elayna saw him again then. Her new bodyguard. He was standing looking as if he was ready. He was still rugged and handsome to her. She was surprised by her attraction to him. He was not her usual type. He acknowledged her presence as soon as she came in the room. Ready to lead her out of her large home. He did just that and within minutes he was assisting her into a limo. Once Mrs. King was situated and the driver began heading to their destination. Nick thought back to when she had just walked down the stairs and out of her home with confidence, but now her face read something else to him. Was it sadness? He could not say. He didn't dare openly stare at her.
They all stopped dining and seemed awe struck by her husband and his aura of power. He could do no wrong in their eyes. Some were here to suckle at the power teet, she knew. Bradley never really let her engage with these people, or any of the people he knew for that matter. Sometimes it felt like they lived totally different lives. He rounded the corner and entered the dining area. As he walked through people stood up and shook his hand. Some wanted pictures from him or to discuss a new business deal. She enjoyed watching him with people. He was so charming and aloof. Giving them just enough to come off as jovial and kind. She had fallen for that. Now she was behind the curtain, and her life was almost close to becoming unbearable. The closer he got the more nervous she became. She stood up when he got to their center table.
Nick’s breath had been taken away by Elayna when he had saw her come out of her bedroom in that sheer dress she wore tonight. Not because the dress fit her like a second skin, or because it showed off her ample breasts, small waist and beautiful butt. His breath had been taken away by her because she wore it with so much confidence. As if to say there was nothing wrong with her outfit. That it was perfectly fine. Though, he thought he had detected a bit of shame in her eyes on the ride over, but only briefly, when she had stepped out of the car it was gone. She had embraced it and her confidence in the expensive cocktail dress made her look gorgeous. Her raven black hair had been free flowing and had framed her face beautifully, making her hazel eyes look big. She had wore a fresh, dewy makeup look that gave her skin a natural glowing appearance. He knew he shouldn’t be thinking about her, but she was so
Once he saw how well business went when she was up for grabs he always wanted her to go on business trips with him. Tonight, it was some columbian millionaire seeking her husband’s financial assistance and expertise. Bradley and this man had been drinking scotch since noon. It was currently seven p.m. How they were still standing and coherent was beyond Elayna. After spending hours at a resort and spa she had finally convinced her husband that it would be best if they all went back to the villa they were staying at. He agreed, but only if his business friend could come along. She stupidly said ‘yes’. Now they were sitting in a semi dark living room. The columbian had been eyeing her since they met him at the resort earlier that day. She was in a tight, bright white, cotton halter tank and khaki short shorts
Epilogue10 months later…Elayna heard the sweet, tiny cries of their newborn baby coming from the baby monitor placed on her nightstand table. The last two months of her life had been ever changing and tumultos in a good way. With the help of her recording and more evidence. She and Nick were able to escape prying eyes and leave the state. They spent the remainder of her pregnancy in the quaint cabin that they had first shared and ignited their love for one another. She had their child outside under the stars in the warm lake they had swam in. Nick was there, assisting her the entire time. He had pulled their child from the water and cut the umbilical cord. It was a boy. After crying tears of joy they decided to n
“You would kill me ? Over him!” Bradley sounded angry.“If I have to.” She admitted. He pressed the gun into Nick’s temple then.“Elayna don’t do this.” Nick replied. “ Save yourself.” He was not being able to see her, but he could hear her and the fear in her voice. She wanted to listen to Nick, but right now she wasn't in a position to. She had been physically and emotionally abused by his man. Systematically broken down by his rules and control and she wanted to be free of him. She knew as long as he was alive that would never happen.“One. Two.” He counted. Before he could get to three there was a gu
Elayna noticed Rosa was still there. She walked over to Elayna. Rosa looked at the goon, then back at Elayna. Her tears streaked her makeup and she could see the bruising they had covered up so strategically earlier. She picked up the needle then.“Rosa... please…” She begged her then, not knowing what Rosa would do next. The goon looked at Elayna. He smirked.“Mr. King won’t mind.” She informed him. “Now, you slap her arm so some veins show for me.” She instructed him.He did what she asked. He kept his large hand on Elaynas arm.At the very last minute, Rosa injected all of the contents inside of the needle
Elayna sat down on the couch in front of the fireplace. He sat down beside her. He was holding a glass of scotch. He took a drink then.“Alvarez was never going to sell. Not after that debacle your boyfriend caused. So I did what I do best. I got him to.”“By framing him.”“I didn’t frame him. I just made some information readily available to the police so he could forfeit his company over to me.Why does this concern you again?”“I told you. I just want to know. I have that right now. I’ve seen too much not to know, right?”“True.” He admitted.“What ab
She placed it in her hands then gave her a small clutch that matched her belt. She opened it and put the phone inside of it making sure to hit the record button before doing so.“Thank you. If I wasn’t so sore I would hug you. I need you to stay safe Rosa, understand?”Rosa nodded her head ‘yes’.“After dinner tonight I need you to leave. Alright?”Rosa nodded her head ‘yes’.When she did the door opened and one of the goons she remembered from last night came into her room.“Mr. King sent me.” He grumbled. She let go of Rosa’s hand, but not before givi
Nick could no longer see. Both of his eyes were swollen shut.Pete had been stripped down to his underwear, sliced and tortured by cuts and salt.Nick’s hand felt as if it were going to burst open for the pressure at any moment. The pain was excruciating. They were both in pretty bad shape. Both of them were dying of thirst . They were only given salt water to drink, which they didn’t. Nick had been waiting for an opening to get free, or for one of the goons to make a mistake so he could reap the benefits of that and dive something, but it ever happened. After hours of torture they were both put in makeshift cages. Nick was sitting in the corner of his protectively holding his hand. Pete hadn’t moved si
Elayna opened her eyes and within seconds realized she was back in her home in her husband’s bed. Had it all been a dream? She asked herself. She was about to sit up when she felt something stinging her left arm. She looked around then. She had been wrong. She was not in Bradley’s room but her own. She had an I.V. in her left hand. Her room looked like a hospital room. There were various medical machines and beeping noises. She felt the back of her head throbbing and touched it. It was wrapped in gauze. The sunlight poured into the room. She remembered the explosion and hitting her head. She also remembered who had caused it all. Last night had been real, she thought. She tried to get out bed once more and noticed she was handcuffed to the bed. She heard Bradley’s voice then. He was standing by the window looking out on their prope
That infuriated him and he tried to get out of the chair.“Fuck you !” He shouted, and was punched, this time in the face.Mr. King was finished with him, for now. He walked over to another male figure that was hanging from a metal hook tied up in the next chair. His vision was blurry but he didn’t need it. He knew it was pete.“You fucking traitor! I hope it was worth it !” he yelled. His goons moved quickly and lowered the hook that he dangled from. and latched his rope tied wrists on to it. His shirt was ripped open. He was covered in soot, ash, dirt and blood.Nick’s vision improved, but not by much and watched as Bradley pulled out a blade. It gleamed in the light.&nb
She hadn’t realized the explosion had knocked her out until she opened her eyes. She could hear nothing but a loud humming noise in her ears. She looked around through the dust and the smoke area. Something warm and sticky was running down the center of her forehead. She touched the liquid and saw it was blood. She wiped it on her jeans. She looked around frantically searching for Nick and Pete. She saw black cars pulling up in the distance. She still couldn’t hear, only the loud humming noise inside of her ears. She tried to stand up but was unable to, so she crawled over to Nick’s motionless body. Fear gripped her. She shook him frantically, and called his name.“Nick!”It was no use. His bloody face was motionless. She cried
