Part Thirty-Six

She climbed off me and started putting her clothes back on as she looked at me over her shoulder where I still lay on the blanket.

“The night is young …”

“And Christian is waiting for his bedtime story.” I laughed as she threw my t-shirt at me and got up and got dressed as well. We walked back to the car hand in hand and I swear the gravity between us was even stronger.

We drove back home and I opened the front door for Adara. The living room was empty and Adara stood in the middle of it, smiling. It didn’t smell empty. I smelled the Irish pack.

“He said yes!” Adara’s voice was loud in the quiet house as she smiled brightly at me.

People came swarming in from everywhere. They were cheering and glasses of champagne clinked. Congratulations did the rounds and lots of hand shaking and back slapping. It felt eerily familiar.
