Part One Hundred and Sixteen

I woke up the next morning feeling like a heavy weight had been lifted from my shoulders. We were alive. I geared up for my usual morning jog and found James and Malachi in the kitchen, ready to jog with me.

We jogged down the dirt road, down Lowell Canyon Drive and past the hotel. We turned left and jogged into town where I stopped at the coffee shop I normally stopped at. I was so used to jogging alone that my mind was wandering and I kept thinking about the previous night.

“Kiran …” Malachi’s voice held a warning tone and my face turned red from embarrassment.

“Sorry, I forgot you were here.” James laughed loudly as we bought coffee and sat down at a nearby table.

“I should probably start looking for a job. Any ideas?” James successfully changed the subject and all thoughts of Adara and our shower last night were forgotten. We sipped our coffees and watched the townspeople go about their early morning routines. It was peaceful just sitting there with them and I knew that our lives
