Just then, someone waved at Logan from afar, so he told Skylar, “Wait here for me. I’ll go greet some acquaintances.”

“But I don’t know anyone here. Can’t I go with you?” Skylar asked worriedly.

She was determined to marry into money, but it was her first time attending an event like this. She could not help feeling nervous.

“They’re all men. There aren’t any ladies in that group,” Logan said with a gentle smile.

Skylar took a peek and saw that he was right. If there were no other women over there, there was nothing she could say about it.

“Okay, then I’ll wait for you.” She smiled at him sweetly.

“I’ll make it quick. Be right back,” Logan said before he left.

Skylar watched him leave. To still her anxiety, she grabbed a glass of wine.

Many of the people walking past turned to look at her.

She figured that they were impressed by her dress, so she felt prouder by the moment.

“Ooh, look over there! Who do we have here?” said someone suddenly.
