Chapter 11 - Worried For Her

Ethan kept his hand behind Jennifer's head and she looked at him with her big eyes which looked mesmerising to him. She looked so beautiful and innocent at that moment.

He told her to hold her breath and she did with confusion. He lowered her head near to the water and dipped her head in it.

He kept her head inside for a few seconds and then he got her head out of the pool. She started coughing and her face looked more alluring to him because of the dripping water.

Ethan, control yourself, his subconscious said and he went away from her.

He was going to enter the hall when he saw Kate coming towards him.

"What happened?" He asked, looking at her worried face.

"Did you see Jennifer?" She asked.

"She is at the poolside." He said with an emotionless face and went inside the hall.

Ethan went to his dad.

"Kate's friend, do you know anything about her? She can be a threat to our family. What if she is a spy? We didn't even find Asher yet. He tried to hurt my life." His dad said, mentioning his mom as his life.

"I will punish him with my own hands." His dad said coldly.

People only have watched Ethan's cruel side but if his dad comes on track of cruelty, he is at the next level. People fear him more than Ethan.

"I already told Raphael to bring every information about her." Ethan said, assuring him.

His dad nodded and went towards his mom. Then Ethan saw Kate and Jennifer entering the hall.

Kate cut the cake and everyone wished her. Now, it was dance time and everyone started dancing with their partners.

"Ethan, will you dance with me?" Rhea asked seductively and Ethan again groaned in his mind cursing his fate.

"My feet are hurting." He said, getting no excuse.

"What?!" She asked dumbfounded and Ethan moved away from her, sighing in relief.

He saw Jennifer standing in a corner. She looked at him and he glared at her.

She instantly looked away and he saw his mom going toward her. They talked about something and both of them looked at him and Jennifer started coughing.

What happened to her suddenly? He thought, keeping his eyes on her.

She went towards the bar area while coughing and his mom made her way toward him.

"Ethan, why are you standing here? Go and dance!" She ordered him, smiling.

"With who?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.

"With Jennifer." She said mischievously and he huffed at her words.

"No way. I won't dance with her." He said, looking at Jennifer who was drinking water and he thought that she would drink alcohol.

"She is our guest. We should keep her happy." His mom said softly.

"Still, I won't dance with her." He said and she glared at him.

"Why don't you tell Stefan to dance with her?" Those words slipped out of his mouth and he realised what he said.

He didn't like the idea of Stefan dancing with her. They both looked at Stefan who was busy flirting with a girl.

"Will you go or not?" She asked with amusement as she could read his eyes.

"Fine." He said huffing and making his way toward Jennifer.

He again humiliated her by calling her a gold digger and he doesn't care if she gets hurt by his words or not. She made him realise that it's better to die single than be with him which irked him again.

He gave her his hand to dance with him

and she looked at his hand, getting confused about his behaviour. She moved her hand towards his hand but kept it on someone else's hand and that hand was none other than Stefan's.

They moved towards the dancefloor and he felt that she insulted him by doing so!

How dare she reject me? Girls die to be with me, he thought while looking at them dancing.

She looked at him and he glared at her which made him earn an eye-roll from her.

Arggh! She is getting on my nerves, he thought, getting frustrated.

Kate went towards him and dragged him to the dancefloor. He started dancing with her but the whole time his eyes were on Jennifer.

She looked at him and he saw Stefan twirling her so he caught her before she could fall. They started dancing but she wasn't even looking at him for a second.

For him, he couldn't even look away from her beautiful face. Soon, the dance ended as it was dinner time and they all moved towards the dining hall to have dinner.

"Food, here I come." Stefan said dramatically and they laughed at his antics.

Ethan saw his mom coming towards them with Jennifer. His mom scolded Kate for leaving Jennifer alone and Kate apologised, making Jennifer sit beside her.

Soon dinner was served and they started eating. Suddenly his mom asked Jennifer why she wasn't eating as she barely ate the food and tears were slipping from her eyes.

His mom asked her the reason for her crying and she told that she was missing her mom. But his mom got shocked when Jennifer didn't call her 'mom'.

His mom asked her why she didn't call her 'mom'!

She will definitely say my name, Ethan thought, clenching his fists.

Jennifer said that someone doesn't like it, and indirectly accused him. Instantly, his mom snapped her eyes at him and screamed his name loudly, catching everyone's attention.

Ethan was hell scared of her anger and his mom started scolding him. He was about to say that he doesn't like it when an unknown person calls her 'mom' but got interrupted by Jennifer.

She apologised to everyone by joining her hands in front of them and she left the hall crying. His mom looked at him in anger and he looked away.

After some time, Jennifer came back from upstairs with her bag and went towards Kate. She said to Kate that she will give her back the dress tomorrow and she quickly went away from there with a heavy heart.

"Where will she go so late at night? What if she gets into some problem?" His mom said, looking at him.

"Ethan, go behind her and say sorry to her." She said sternly but he won't go to her.

"No." He said coldly and went upstairs to his room.

What if something bad happens to her? She won't get any vehicle in this area. Should I go looking for her? No, I won't go. She isn't related to me so I don't need to care for her, he thought while pacing around his room.
