CHAPTER 41: The Blurry Vibrant Hair

Maverick’s pov

I stepped into my office, Minister Blackthorn following closely behind me. I rummaged through the disarray on my desk, looking for one thing in particular.

“Where the fuck is it?” I questioned internally, my hands continuing to search for it. Then, my fingers brushed against a fancy letter. I took it; the sophisticated fire heart emblem adorned its center.

I must have packed the official papers on top when I was busy and forgot to clear up the desk; hence, the letter was lost underneath the pile of documents and files—a casualty of my recent chaos.

I was about to rip open the file with my claws, but Minister Blackthorn’s movement stopped me. I stared confusingly at him, looking down at the pocket knife he handed me.

“Careful, my alpha,” Minister Blackthorn said, bringing the small pocket knife closer. “One has to be extra careful these days, especially with a pack teetering on the brink of danger.”

I arched an eyebrow, scrutinizi

After confirming that one of Sir Wilson's companions had immediate medical attention following the ambush, I returned to my private ward, where the chaos that occurred earlier was now just a memory, a figment of an imagination. The shattered room was now meticulously cleaned, bearing no scars from my confrontation with Minister Elais. Still, the weight of worry pressed down on my shoulder like a tonne of bricks, like a suffocating fog always constant. My thoughts shifted to my injury, and I raised my dress to inspect my wound. It had started bleeding again. I reached for the call button, my fingers pressing down on it firmly; the sound of beeping echoed in the silence of the room. Moments later, the nurse rushed in, her eyes searching until they rested on mine. “Where’s Beta Thane?”“He’s somewhere i

CHAPTER 43 : Alpha Duncan RedClaw Third person’s povThe clearing was eerily quiet; the silence shrouded everything within its grasp, even to the point of suffocation. Even the winds dared not whisper as it blew the leaves gently. This clearing, surrounded by towering trees, opened up like a hidden sanctuary within the dense embrace of the forest. The gnarled branches of these trees suddenly arched overhead, filtering the dying light of the day into soft, light, dappled patterns on the ground. The air was thick with scents of sweating bodies as that silence that once enveloped the clearing lasted only for a few thousandths of a second before a deafening roar erupted, tearing through the atmosphere as the sun settled its ambient glow on the assembled warriors, a deep undercurrent of ferocity palpable. The warriors were a sight to behold: bearded men, their hair and beards streaked red, standing shoulder to shoulder, looking more like a wild assembly of ancient Vikings. But under all

CHAPTER 44: The Tee’s Buds Pyra’s pov As I stood up from the cold toilet seat, I felt an odd mixture of relief wash over me. A smile finally graced my lips. The crimson stain in the bowl confirmed that my monthly visitor had finally arrived, although fashionably late, I might say. Just like Veronica had said, the ‘glow’ she had noticed wasn’t what I thought it was or rather emphasized about. With my period finally here, I felt a strange sense of normalcy returning back to my chaotic life. I was okay. I assured myself, flushing the toilet. I took a moment of time to myself and reached into my bag for the sanitary pad I had kept inside. After a brief struggle, I finally managed to fit it comfortably, and when I was done, I washed my hands while glancing at my reflection in the mirror. I looked… better than ever. My cheeks were now filled, and my hair glistened brightly under the fluorescent lights. I reached a hand to my face while turning my face side to side to view clearly. For

My eyes drifted to the name above the entrance in elegant script: The Tee’s Buds. I couldn’t help the smile that danced on my lips. As we walked deeper into the restaurant, with the people all speaking to each other, I couldn’t help but admire the beauty of this place. The walls were painted in soft pastel shades, making me feel like I had entered another era. Another future. My gaze shifted upwards, and just there sat an ornate crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling, casting a warm, golden light over everything, making the room glow with an inviting warmth, even making the gallant individual's outfit shine. “Here!” Veronica led me to an empty table, and I sat admiring the place. Even the tables were set with immaculate white cloths and gleaming silverware, each plate setting arranged carefully. A small bouquet of fresh flowers in pastel h

I sat back in my chair, a soft sigh escaping my patted lips as I felt the weight of the paper in my hand. I continued to watch it, unable to tear my eyes away—the photo was blurred and strange, totally unclear, but one detail stood out clearly: A mop of red hair."Blackthorn," I called, bringing the minister of secret affairs's attention. I heard his footsteps approaching, his presence discreet as ever, always lingering outside my view but still present when I needed him. I could feel his eyes on me the entire time, but I was too focused on the images before me to care.I then felt him beside me. His eyes were on the stack of papers on the table, eager to collect them and retreat to whatever shadow he worked best in. CHAPTER 47: Web Of EyesNatalie’s povI slowly approached the building, letting my feet drag across the dried, cracked ground filled with fallen leaves, half-wishing Cornor would be a no-show this time. “What the hell does he want now?” I raged, looking around. It was still dusk, and shadows crawled over the large building, making it feel even more isolated and lonely than it usually is. This was the abandoned training center, which had once buzzed with the sounds of sparring, teaching young cubs and pack members to hunt and survive. But now, it was just a reflection of its former glory, a relic of past lessons, but above all, it seemed fitting that it was the place Cornor insisted on meeting. I already gave him everything he asked for. He has status, power, riches, and respect. I could barely say the last word without sneering. Cornor was a leach, always taking but never satisfied. I’d tolerated much of his nonsense until now, hoping his demands would cease as he settled into his

CHAPTER 48: Madame Lou’s Divination Pyra’s povThe car parked beside the road, the engine turning off. The circus lights flashed in brilliant colors as Veronica and I stepped out of her car. This place was marvelous—a sight to behold. I could barely believe that Fireheart Pack was this advance in both technology and culture—everything was almost futuristic, with stands buzzing with people, laughter echoing through the air, and all kinds of tech-driven attractions that seemed like something out of a dream.A perfect dream. A red rose covered my vision, stopping my wonder, and I turned to see a man’s hand outstretched, giving me the flowers. I blinked, momentarily caught off guard. “For you,” he said with a grin on his slightly wrinkled face. “A beautiful flower for a beautiful girl with beautiful red hair.”Immediately he said that, I felt my face heat up, and I took the flowers, using the red petals to hide the side of my burning face. “Thank you, sir.”I glanced back to see Veroni

CHAPTER 155: Not Forever Pyra’s POV:My breath caught in my throat as Maverick lips pressed against mine. It was a kiss unlike any I had ever experienced—wild, urgent, filled with want and raw intensity. His hands instinctively reached for the back of my head, gripping me tightly like he never wanted to let me go. I didn’t want it to end but I had to. I tried to move away, but Maverick held on tight, refusing to let me bulge out. His tongue slid into mine, massaging and dancing around it. I was strong, yes, but not that strong. I can resist many things but this mustn’t have been one of them. I couldn’t help but melt into the kiss, my lips parting to allow Maverick's tongue to deepen the connection. I didn’t know where I was again as everything melted away like candy; sweet, delicious, and short-lasting. It was only two of us, lost in the intensity of the moment. Maverick's grip on my head tightened, his fingers tangling in my hair as he devoured my mouth. I felt his passion, his d

The weight of frustration sat heavily on my chest as I clutched my phone, my grip tightening with each passing second that passed by. I had been calling nonstop, yet my mother kept my calls busy. Every time I tried again, the line went straight to voicemail. It was obvious she was avoiding me. My breath came out sharp as I ran a hand through my hair, trying to calm my nerves but to no avail. Everything was going bad, the walls of the guesthouse felt like they were closing in, suffocating me in complete silence. I checked the screen of my phone, waiting for it to flash with an expected call but nothing. I needed answers and I wanted them now. With a deep inhale, I forced myself to think logically. Maybe she was just busy. Maybe she wasn’t deliberately ignoring me.But I knew better.Mother wasn’t one of the ordinary things. She could be most secretive when she wants to. If she truly h

CHAPTER 153 : Not The Prisoner Third person’s POV:The bedroom was large and vast, bathed in the soft glow from the chandelier hung high from the room, seated perfectly on the ceiling as its glow cast radiant light against the deep, midnight-blue walls. The air smelled of fresh lilies and aged books, a mixture of both elegance and slight solitude, one not favored by one woman in particular. The same woman who stood by the window, her silhouette framed against the clearing beyond. She was still—almost eerily so—her fingers grazing the barricaded window as if reaching for something beyond it that couldn’t be seen, or someone. Her long black hair cascaded down her back, giving her the structure of a perfect portrait of how still she was. She was dressed in a simple white nightgown and nothing else. Her whole focus was outside the window, hating the fact she was kept locked like a prisoner, her sense of freedom inhibited by this barricade, one she so desperately wanted to claw at. “Do

The meeting with Alpha Sam went smoother than I would have thought, and now, I agitatedly waited for his reply. I needed answers and I wanted them immediately. The crackling fire in the hearth did little to warm the cold creeping into my bones under the soft clothes I wore. He should have sent a message by now if my calculations were right. My eyes caught a glimpse of my phone flashing and I rushed over, seeing Maverick’s name as the caller ID. Dammit. I didn’t want to speak with him yet. I haven’t gotten the information I needed from Alpha Sam. I had been waiting for Sam’s call, an email, or even a messenger but I was greeted with none of that. I couldn’t reply to Maverick when I hadn’t gotten even a reply or answer to what I asked for. This was the first time Maverick had ever asked for my help in digg

CHAPTER 151: A Grimy Past AffairLuna Elodie’s POVI chuckled, tilting my head slightly, disbelief colouring my tone. “I fail to understand you, Alpha Sam. What did you just say?”There was no smile on his lips, the usual constant smirk all but history, but his eyes held something deeper—calculated curiosity, or perhaps something far more dangerous, but I also saw—truth. He leaned back in his chair, swirling the remaining wine in his glass. “Excuse me?” He asked smoothly, “Is it about the part where Alpha Thomson had a son of such age or what were you talking about?” He chuckled a little, staring at his glass. “Maybe I took a little too much wine.”I narrowed my eyes, studying him. Was he playing games? Or was he being truthful? Sam was many things—a strategist, a manipulator, a man who never let his guard down—but a liar? No. Not unless it fully benefits him, and from what I could think of, this won’t benefit him even in the slightest; I would make sure of that. “And here I was fla

CHAPTER 150: The Luna In BloodMoonLuna Elodie’s POV:The line went dead and I dropped the phone, my fingers lingering over the screen as confusion settled in my chest, a small crease forming around my brows. What is actually going on? Maverick never takes an interest in things without reason, but this… This felt different. It felt deeper. I shifted in my chair, trying to find a comfortable position to think, but unease had already seeped into my bones and muscles, causing taunting and discomfort. My office—the Alpha’s office, usually a place of comfort since Maverick’s trip to the FireHeart pack, now felt like a space filled with unanswered questions. “He’s taking this man—Steven Stoneclaw’s case—to another level,” I muttered, placing my chin in my hand, my elbow resting on the desk. My mind scaled through many possibilities, trying to piece together the fragments of information I had. “What did this man do that could drag Maverick’s attention this way?”Steven StoneClaw. The na

CHAPTER 149: Pathetic Reflection Maverick’s POV: I felt the familiar softness of her lips against mine, and in that fleeting moment, I wanted nothing more than to be forever trapped here—lost in her warmth, her fire, her everything. But the moment barely lasted. Before I could even deepen the kiss, let my lip dance against hers, before I could pull closer and let myself drown in her, Pyra shoved me back with enough force to send me stumbling. The warmth I felt disappeared, replaced by the cold of the atmosphere. Then—crack. A sharp painful sting erupted across the left of my chin as her palm connected with my skin, the sound of the slap echoing through the kitchen like a gunshot. My head snapped to the side due to the force of the slap, and for a brief second, all I could register was the biting, sharp and painful feeling left in its wake. Slowly, I turned to her, and she was fuming. Her breath came out sharp as her chest rose and fell in quick, furious breath, her crimson ey

I stretched on my bed, a strange yet exhilarating warmth filling my chest. I opened my eyes to stare at the ceiling, the beautiful intricate design of the dense carving so perfect that I only just noticed it now. A smile spread across my lips, and I raised a hand to touch it, confused by the cause of it. For some weird reason, I felt light. It was rare for me to wake up feeling this light, this… happy. And just thinking about it now, I knew exactly why. The smile that tugged at my lips spread even wider as I sat up. It wasn’t something I had planned or even wanted, but knowing that someone genuinely cared—someone who saw me beyond the title, beyond the responsibility, beyond any flaws and still gave a damn—made my heart soar. He walked silently as he moved along the stone path of the small garden bore by the guest house he was assigned to stay in, his hands tucked into his pockets, his mind replaying every moment from the past hour. Alpha Rhaella had finally cracked. He had seen it in her eyes—the uncertainty, the hesitation, the exposure of what she truly wanted. She was strong, but even the strongest had weaknesses, and that was her heart. A smirk tugged at the corners of his lips as he stopped near a marble bench, his fingers absentmindedly tracing the rough bark of a tree. He was getting ever so close and attached to Alpha Rhaella; it wasn’t something he expected, but for some weird reas
