CHAPTER 12: Restricted Room

Pyra’s POV:

It's been weeks since I joined the Fireheart Pack.

It was so surreal, but yet, everything I had dreamed about for a normal life. I wasn’t bullied by everyone in the pack, I wasn’t called a freak, and I wasn’t beaten or maltreated.

My new future had been navigating the grand castle-like pack house, which never seemed to have any end as it stretched far beyond.

I was both thrilled and intimidated by the opulence of the Fireheart Pack and how they respected each other, irrespective of your status. Well, most of it anyway.

I had only visited the castle when summoned by Luna Verona, though, most of the time escorted by a pack guard or by Beta Thane.

The inside of the pack and also the pack house was too large for me to memorize within only a few weeks. Everywhere felt like uncharted territory, and no matter if I hated saying this, I relied on the escort of Beta Thane and his ever-so-watchful eagle eyes through the labyrinthine halls.

It really i

CHAPTER 13: The Cloaked Figure PYRA’s POV:My breath hitched in my throat, and for a moment, I forgot how to breathe or what it even meant to breathe. Her voice sent shivers down my spine as she spoke my name. I couldn’t close the velvet curtains due to being frozen in shock. I felt like I had been caught red-handed, which was what was happening. And I couldn’t help but wish I was only hallucinating that I heard my name being called. "Pyra." Luna Verona repeated. My heart sank. I was in trouble—big trouble. What should I do? Run or faint? I ranked my thoughts for a reasonable escape plan, but nothing substantial seemed to come to mind. I hesitated, unsure of what to do. I was about to open the velvet curtain and reveal myself since she had detected I was there, but I paused. Not from fear of being caught or how Luna found out I was here, but from where her eyes were directed. She was looking directly at the red box and not at me any longer. She approached the red box, standi

CHAPTER 14: The Healing SmilePyra’s POV:I grappled for air, my breath utterly escaping me, leaving me gasping in desperation. Everything was moving too fast—too quick to get a concept of a thought. The cacophony of rushing blood filled my ears, deafening me, and I trembled with the utmost fear that gripped me like a second skin, my heartbeat thundering like a stormy night, threatening to shatter my chest, its ferocious deep contraction threatening to burst through my rib cage any moment now. My whole body shook from the intense fear that engulfed me. I couldn’t breathe, staring at the figure as if it had shown me my worst fears. I couldn’t stand up, no matter the amount of force I applied or how much I tried; I simply lost control of my being. I had nothing else to do but stare at the figure as it watched me in silence. “Rhaella.” It called again, and I was finally able to understand everything. That name was the same as what the red-headed man in my dream called me. “Blood wa

CHAPTER 15: The Game Of Lunas Natalie’s Pov“Where the hell is he?” My voice came out in a short gasp, pacing back and forth in the hidden meeting place. My anger and frustration simmering just below the surface, threatening to explode like a volcano. I could barely contain the anger I was feeling, and if this idiot didn't come here right this instant, I’d kill him. It wasn't that I had been waiting here for over an hour for him, but the main reason I was angry was because of Luna Elodie. That witch! She destroyed all my plans. I was so close— too close to achieving my dreams and all I’ve ever dreamed of—only for her to come to spoil everything and even dare curse me. I almost laughed, knowing what she did to even get to the position she was in right now. I had the power to bring her down, but I need defenses. She was the Luna anyway. My words would be treason, and I would be punished, or worse, banished, if I were to accuse her without evidence. My head snapped in the direction

CHAPTER 16: Potion Making Pyra’s POV My mind drifted into the far distance, further than I ever thought. It was consumed by so many thoughts, but few stood apparent, threatening to destroy whatever sanity I had left: the mysterious figure in the restricted west wing. What was it? Why did it show me those visions? What was the blood war? And why were there so many deaths? And why did it call me by that same name that has been called by that red-headed man in my dream, always? Why does everything feel so mysterious? Rhaella! That name. Who does it belong to? Maybe, just maybe, the red-headed man in my dream is the same as that cloaked figure in red in that west wing. That could only be the explanation, right? Questions racked in my mind, threatening to explode the little sanity I had left as I was lost in thought, unaware of my surroundings. I felt a gentle tap on my shoulder, but I didn’t react to it. I was too engrossed in my mind-questioning to reply. “Pyra…”

CHAPTER 17: The Flicker Luna Verona’s POVI walked towards them as they stood dressed in white overalls. Their heads were slightly bowed to show respect and their hands which were covered in white latex gloves, clasped in front of them. One thing I hate about hospitals is the smell of medicines, antiseptics and the cries of infants; they reminded me of my dilemma. But, I had to be present today to be certain that Pyra was in the hospital, working and being useful. I was informed by Thane on how she saved the life of a warrior poisoned. I was surprised but it still didn't quench the suspicions I have of her. “As you may,” I told them. They both turned to their respective posts, mixing herbs and recording figures on their clipboards. I saw how Pyra effortlessly followed up with the instructions given by Veronica. The way she handled the tubes and how she twirled a bottle around to examine a potion intrigued me, like she had worked here for a very long time.“I see you have taken a

CHAPTER 18: The Council Meeting Luna Verona’s POVAs I walked the halls leading to the conference room, I stopped, causing Beta Thane to halt abruptly behind me. “Thane?” “Yes, my Luna,” he answered, his voice laced with concern and confusion. With my back to him, “If you ever interrupt me like that again, I will have your head.” I turned my face to look him in the eyes in which he averted his gaze immediately, “Am I clear?” I asked.“Yes, my Luna.” “Good.”The large doors to the meeting conference room opened as I got a few feets to them. I swept into the council meeting, my head held high as my presence commanded respect and silence reigned the room immediately. My eyes swept through the nine men each seated around the large table, scrutinizing and daring any of them to demean my power. The men all rose to greet me, their faces a mix of respect, and inches into their wrinkled faces was wariness. They should be worried, for I will never heed their demand and let someone take wh

I don’t understand.” I groaned, my shoulder slouch as I face-palmed. “Like, why put me in Beta Thane’s custody if she’s just going to trail me herself?” I was getting uncomfortable. Veronica agreed, her expression wary and concerned. "Yeah, that’s what I've noticed too, Pyra. It's weird, actually really weird. Anyone who ever comes to the pack, even the royal

CHAPTER 20: I Command The WindLuna Verona’s POV:I slowly stood up from my seat, walking closer to the large window that oversees the whole Pack’s fields that stretched for miles. Momentarily, I caught a glimpse of red hair before it was gone. I shook my head slightly, clearing my eyes before I caught it again. The mop of red hair that sat on her beautiful delicate face. I was silent as I watched Pyra walk hand-in-hand with Veronica, the potion-maker, to where I could only assume was the infirmary. "To believe what, Minister Elias?” He was about to speak but I stopped him again, losing interest in whatever he wanted to say and instead, focusing on one thing in mind. "Any news about my mate, Minister?" I asked my voice firm but laced with a hint of desperation. I had ordered them to keep searching. They said he was dead but I haven’t felt our connection break. I opened my eyes, and the small light of the morning filtered into my eyes from the window.I blinked against the sting, groaning softly as I stirred from sleep. It was still too early in the morning but I was awake, energized. My body felt heavy, like it wanted more sleep—even though I knew I overslept. I turned on my side, dragging a hand over my face to wipe off the remnants of the strange unease clinging to me. Something felt… off.I didn’t know how to explain it as I stared at the ceiling but I felt that today wasn’t just going to be a normal day. I sat up slowly, rubbing my temples. The scent of the morning breeze drifted in, mixed with the faint perfume of pine from the woods beyond. My throat itched with thirst and I reached for the bottle of water beside my bed only to feel something crisp. I frowned, turning to see a letter sitting right there. What the hell?I turned on the ligh

CHAPTER 173: An Empty CradlePyra’s POV:Cold. That was all I could feel. It slipped into my bones, tearing at me from the inside. I couldn’t move, barely able to breathe except for the cold moisture that was so dense that it felt like I was breathing in water. I took another painful breath in, choking on it immediately. My choking seemed to snap me out of whatever I was in because one moment I could feel my eyes closed permanently shut, and air as thick and dense as liquid entering my lungs, and the next moment, I stood before a forest. The trees towered over all, animals ran into their hiding spots as if running from something dangerous. The branches of the towering trees crept like hands, promising a destructive hug but even with that, nothing could hide what hung prominently in the sky, casting red lights that bathed the ground. The moon. It was bleeding a bright crimson red. I veered around, searching all around me. As strange as this place was, it was familiar. I didn’t kno

CHAPTER 172: Revenge Served With A Syringe Third person’s POV:The darkness was persistent, not a ray of moonlight sipped through. The lands of Lunaria were bathed in total darkness. Not even the stars dared to blink. The once lively whispers of the wind had grown still, and even the wolves, proud guardians of the night, were silent—watching, waiting. And the lands of the FireHeart pack were not immune to this. Deep in the darkness, a pair of dark eyes blinked, making his way straight into the path where a lady waited patiently for him. He stopped before her, their eyes locked into each other, no words being spoken. After what felt like forever, Alpha Rhaella shifted, giving access to Alpha Maverick into her penthouse. Immediately he was in, she shut the door. “I’ve been waiting for this,” Maverick said, impatiently going to hold Rhaella’s hand, his body almost gluing to hers. In their celebratory halls, Soft Music drifted through the air, a cheerful tune that tried—desperately—to fill the silence that hung over the pack like a thick fog.A performance for the Alpha and his newly appointed Ministers who sat watching from their raised platform. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from him. It was like he had just taken a bath, his hair a slightly rough mat, pulled back roughly as if he didn’t have time to properly comb it but for some weird reason, it made him look more incredibly handsome. I didn’t notice he was holding something until he was close to me before my gaze shifted towards his hands. There was a bouquet of flowers in one hand and in the other, what looked to be a gift box was present. I was silent as he stopped before me, my gaze still fixed on the gift box. What could be inside? Steven knew how much I didn’t like receiving gifts but if he was to bring one to me now, it meant it was something very important. CHAPTER 169: Boxed FlowersMaverick’s POVThe morning air was crisp, carrying the lingering scent of pine and damp earth as I made my way toward the penthouse. The sun had barely broken past the horizon, casting long shadows over the quiet roads. It was rare for me to be up this early in the morning, but yesterday was restless, leaving me with no other choice. We were meant to eat breakfast with Alpha Rhaella, and the prominent figures of the pack but for a while now, Alpha Rhaella has stopped that act. Instead, everyone eats their meals in their own private space. Sure, I do understand her for the last few meetings we had in the dining room and it turned out to be disastrous. As I continued walking down the narrow road, I felt vibrations in my pants and fished out my phone, answering the call without looking at the caller ID. I knew who it was before her voice could pierce through. “Mother!”Why would she have called this early? Was there a problem or did she find out what I wanted

CHAPTER 168: Green Intruder Third person’s POV:The river roared through the heart of FireHeart Pack’s land, its currents swift and relentless, reflecting the fiery hues of the setting sun. This was the exact place where the infamous Alpha Rhaella, the Queen of Alphas was found half-dead. This place was the beginning and the birth of a legend. Beyond the river, the pack’s territory was vast, a stretch of dense pine forests and towering cliffs that cladded a well tiled road but yet, the sweet scent of damp earth and wild musk filled the air. This late in the evening, the riverbank was not a place of peace and serenity. No, it was far from that. It was alive with the sound of footsteps wading through the waist-deep water, their breath heavy, and eyes scanning the depths for a single object—the lost necklace of Alpha Rhaella. Steven StoneClaw stood in the waist-deep water, his powerful frame tense as he watched the flowing water with keen, vigilant eyes. The necklace was no ordinary

CHAPTER 167 : A Call Hindrance Luna Elodie’s POV:After Minister Scott, made sure he continued his investigations. I didn’t tell him much knowing if there was anyone who could tackle this problem, it would have to be me. I dug into my pocket, fishing my phone and instinctively dialing a single number. I watched the phone ring, the screen brightness doing nothing to deter my resolve. I waited for the call to be answered, standing from my seat due to restlessness. Now that I think about it, why would Maverick ask me to find out about someone? I’ve asked this question more times than I could count since given this mission, yet no answer played forth before me. Does he mean he doesn’t trust that person, or the person was a great danger?Steven StoneClaw! The name is foreign yet carries a weight of foreboding along with it. The call ended yet no one picked up the call. I paced around, watching the pack through the large window for several minutes, enjoying the peace that reigned today.

CHAPTER 166 : To Be Real Luna Elodie’s POV: Following the instruction given to me by my son, I called in Minister Scott for a deeper investigation than I could provide. As I waited for his arrival, I took a few minutes to check the news. One would be surprised just how much information could be acquired from what others deem useless or not crucial. I, on the other hand, get all the information from whatever source was provided to me. The minutes passed quickly as I scrolled through the news, my mind processing each tidbit of information. The headlines were filled with the usual chaos: political unrest, corporate scandals, and the ever-present shadow of global tensions. But I wasn’t looking for any of that. I needed something different, something that was of great importance. Lunaria has always been filled with political wars for decades. I need not hear of them now. What I needed was something specific, something subtle that would give me an edge, something others might o
