Year 3019

Rosa was in her room with her dog Neptune and her drone robo Curiosity . Yes she named her dog Neptune. She was very fascinated by the space and was hopeful that one day the humans will find other extraterrestrials who are intelligent and maybe they can make peace with us. Her teen mind had vivid imaginations about that day. There will be hope, peace and joy. She is 18 years old. She has dark brown hair reaching till her mid back and ocean blue eyes with rosy ivory skin. She loves to collect vintage artefacts and she loves to read stories about the universe, multiverse and everything beyond. 

Suddenly a robotic female voice said "Rosa dinner is ready, mom and dad are waiting for you downstairs."

Rosa "I'll be there in a minute" and with that she closed the book she was reading.

In 3019 each house had a robotic security plus connecting software. It helped with daily household chores and minimised the chances of theft and accidents by 70%. It needed to be upgraded once in every two months to keep it in pace with the latest technology. Rosa got up with her dog Neptune and got into the Room Hopper. People in the 2019 will think it is an elevator but actually it looks like an elevator but it is much faster and advanced. It is controlled by the security software and only recognizes the voices of the people living in the house. You just need to say in which room u want to go and then it will flash the image of the Room. You then need to select the exact spot in the room where you need to reach and then you will reach there in a matter of seconds. Curiosity also followed her. 

After reaching the dining table Rosa saw that her mum and dad were already seated in the table and were waiting for her to join them. No matter how much the technology develops and no matter how much pressure both her parents had in their offices but they always managed to have dinner together. They had strict rules that there should be complete eye contact in the dinner table and they should talk and share how the day was for each of them. Rosa was not allowed to chat with Curiosity at the dinner table and she could not use her mobile either. Her mum and dad believed some rules of the past had to be accepted and cultivated as it was healthy. 

Rosa thought that it was the best time to break the news about the school trip to her parents. She was very excited to tell them about it and to get the permission to go. 

She said "Mom, Dad there is going to be a school trip to Mars this Friday and I really want to go. Sophia is going too and it would be a great experience too".

Rosa's mom said "Honey if you want to go to the trip then you have permission from both of us, Mars trip sounds like fun too" as she passed her a plate of spaghetti and meatballs. 

Rosa's father agreed and said that "Obviously me and your mom have no problem with it. Your whole school must be going. You'll get to see amazing stuff and explore a different but neighbouring planet, there is no harm in it". 

"I'll go to Sophia house tomorrow after school. She will need my help packing. Also Curiosity won't be allowed in the trip. We are supposed to get experience without our drone friends traditionally." said Rosa dramatically emphasizing on the word traditionally making air quotes.

Everybody chuckled and they resumed having dinner. 

After having dinner Rosa said good night to her parents and went to her room. She video called her friend Sofia. A large screen appeared and Rosa could see Sofia beaming.

Sofia said "So did you inform your parents regarding the trip?" 

Rosa said "Oh yeah, infact just had a talk with them regarding it at the dinner table. They are perfectly cool and told me to enjoy to the fullest." 

"Great, so after school you are coming to my house and we'll have a sleepover. You know I suck at packing and you are going to be my saving grace" said Sofia smirking 

Rosa gave her a knowing look and said "Oh yeah I already told my parents about how big of looser you are while packing, you can't even fold your clothes properly, I bet everyone knows." 

Sofia raised her eyebrows and said "Rosa you are so evil!!"

They both had a long laugh followed by that and continued to chat about which dresses they are going to take and all the delicacies they are going to relish when they land on Mars. 

Suddenly Sofia frowned and said "But Kaylee will also be there and she does not really like you for some reason."

Rosa said "Well the feeling is mutual babe, it's not like I hate her or she hates me it's just that we have a very unpleasant history". 

Kaylee or Kay as her friends would call her came from quite a rich background. She was mostly funny and she was quite good looking but she started hating Rosa for some reason and despite being friends in the past they drifted away farther away from each other. Alex and Tyler were the popular boys in their school. It seemed as if Kaylee liked Alex quite a lot. They were pretty close too and had each other's back everytime but nothing is confirmed of them dating or not. 

Alex was the bad boy and each girl in their school drooled on him. He was not a player and never crossed lines with anyone either but he had a reputation for being really problematic and could throw temper tantrums ocassionally. He was never mean to anyone but just something always seemed so off about him. Tyler was the golden boy of the school. Football captain and very gentle, calm and composed. He stayed out of trouble for the most part but then again being friends with Kaylee and Alex came with its own set of problems. He could not completely avoid trouble and often found himself in sticky situations. 

Rosa never understood when and why these two guys became friends with Kaylee. All three of them were polar opposites. They had nothing in common that would make them friends or even bring them close and yet these three were always together. Maybe because they all were popular or belonged from the same rich background. 

Well some things like high school drama has not changed over the years but this wss not anything regular. No they were not cliché mean bullies who would bully the nerd and the nerd would take it all. Nothing of that sort ever happened. Yes, Kaylee hated Rosa's guts but she was totally against anyone being demoralized, mentally tormented or physically harmed. Yes they were arrogant, came off a bit harsh a lot of times and loved to stay in their own group with their loyal friends but they were not evil in any way. 

Sophia said "What if she tries to provoke you, she has tried to many times but you mostly do not pay attention to her shit." 

Rosa said "Let her do whatever she wants and to be honest she does make fun of me sometimes but she has never crossed her limit because she knows when to stop and where to stop, otherwise she knows she not live to regret" 

They both chuckled and after talking to Sofia some more they retired for the night. Rosa took a shower and went to her bed. She couldn't contain her excitement and fell asleep thinking about the wonderful time she and Sofia will have on their trip to Mars.
