Elle’s POV
Elle’s tears were still drying on her face as she slipped into Corvin’s office. She had decided that she wanted answers. Corvin didn’t seem like he would give them to her, and he had left the door open after telling her to help herself to whatever she found in their apartment.
The view in the office took her breath away. While it was only half the size of the bedrooms, it was probably the cost of her vast walk-in closet.
Windows lined the outside wall from the floor to the ceiling. The view of the moon from the office was pristine as its brilliant light reflected off of the simple, elegant furniture. There was no need to turn the light on. The moonlight the room vividly, and she was enjoying the moon’s glow.
She felt naughty as she hea
Corvin’s POV The sun was shining brightly over the eastern horizon when Corvin strode naked up the front steps of his keep. His wolf had run the rest of the night with his pack. It was reassuring that he could feel her and knew that Elle had eventually calmed down. She had been upset for a little while after he left. But it wasn’t half an hour later; he could sense her laughter. She seemed to cheer up before falling asleep. He slipped into his sweats as he walked up to his familiar apartment. He was especially quiet because he did not want to wake Elle. But her smell was all over the apartment. Her scent reminded him of that kiss last night, and he felt his blood heating. ‘But her scent isn’t strong enough.
Elle’s POV Elle quietly contemplated going into the apartment. An angry beast waited to take his frustrations out on her. But she was going to have to face him eventually. She opened the door deliberately. Then, walked straight past him. Elle wouldn’t show weakness. Her eyes kept straight ahead. The itch to look at what he broke dug deep. But she couldn’t show her fear to him right now. Corvin glared daggers at her. In the middle of the room, he stood menacingly. His gigantic chest puffed out aggressively as he breathed heavily. He was a bull about to charge. He immediately followed on her heels. Finally, he roared at her back, demandingly. “Where
TRIGGER WARNING: LIGHT BDSM Elle’s POV Elle stood outside the mysterious door that she was forbidden to enter and pressed her ear against it to listen. A faint voice tempted her to open the door. There was so much that they had not told her about that maybe exploring this one wouldn’t be so bad. It held the key to the future. “Moon mother?” A sleepy Romanian accent asked from behind her. She swung around guiltily; her eyes darted around the room furtively. “I’m not doing anything.” She exclaimed. The man that she met the other day, when Arya showed
Elle’s POV “I… just needed clothes for after I got out of the shower.” She stuttered as his eyes ate angry holes through her soul. She glanced down at her hands. Elle still held the puppy, and she offered it to Corvin repentantly. “I like your puppy.” He ripped it from her fingers, smelling it up and down in big whole breath sniffs. She gawked at him, confused. Elle hadn’t changed the smell of the toy in the few seconds that she held it. “Mine!” He growled threateningly as his threatening eyes took her in. She put her hands up to defend herself. Then began to scoot by him. Both of his hands pounded the wall on either side of her head. The force of it shocked
Corvins POV Corvin promptly shut the front door and turned around to see both bathroom doors were shut. He grunted decidedly. Pacing from his bedroom across the apartment into his office and then back again, he poked his inner wolf. They needed to talk. The full windows in his office let in beautiful streaming moonlight. It was why he had chosen that wall for his office and then installed those particular windows. Moonlight made him feel amazing! Plus, with a push of a single button, panels would automatically come out and cover the windows for defense as well as privacy. He hardly ever shut them, though. Remus grunted unhappily at him. “We had to answer the door for Doctor Cayden beca
Corvin’s POV ‘Close your mouth, man. You're making a fool of us.’ Remus complained. But Corvin could feel the wolf’s arousal on top of his own and knew he understood. She was breathtaking. He had expected her to wear a pair of his sweats and sit in comfortable oversized clothing all night. But she had chosen a bathrobe that did not obscure her sexy figure at all. The bathrobe exposed more of her caressable soft skin than he had previously seen, and it was so provocative and inviting that he had to fight the urge to touch her. Luminous water drops sparkled boldly on her creamy skin. He wondered what she wore under the bathrobe, but that question would lead down a path he wasn’t prepared to go yet. He turned to the food in an attempt to get a grip on himself.
Elle’s POV After Scout left, Corvin shut the door behind him and then fell back on it before he looked her over. He looked relieved. For the first time since dinner started, she didn’t feel like a piece of meat on his dinner plate. His grey eyes still appraised her appreciatively. The hungry looks he was giving her brought pleasurable gooseflesh to her entire body and eager anticipation within. He moved from the door. Instead of sitting next to her again, Corvin sat on the edge of a chair. He looked poised to strike at any moment. The question enchanted Elle- how far would they make it this time if he did make moves on her? “Come. It is getting late, and you are tired.” He said, standing quickly. He felt indecisive and cagey.
Elle’s POV Elle did not sleep well that night despite how tired she was. Corvin’s behavior and excuses kept her up all night. None of it made sense, and the more she tried to make sense of it, the more upset she got. After Corvin left her room, she cried for a while. Then got up to stare out the window at the night sky. It wasn’t as bright or beautiful as it had been last night. But she could still see far beyond the castle wall, where the deer roamed in the woods. She tossed and turned when she laid down, but sleep would not come. Several times, she considered going into the next room and demanding answers from him. No one would be allowed to leave until she
FridayCorvins POVElle thoughtlessly disturbed his blessed silence and insisted that she stay. He didn’t know how he would restore his beautifully restrictive defenses. Then she witnessed his fall, unbidden and unwanted. She saw him at his worst and still refused to leave. He tried to force her to leave, but she wouldn’t. He didn’t want to give in to her presence, that tiny little nagging feeling. Everything was going to be alright. Elle was here. She had kept him going in the darkest of times, and now she wanted to be with him.If she were to reject him now, it would finish off his crushed soul. He desperately did not want to give her that chance. But Remus insisted that Corvin not chase her off.
Friday Elle’s POV It took several hours before she could finish resolving the conflict between the Alphas, and as intense as it got, she really enjoyed the debate. It reminded her of her friends in high school and how they would come to her to settle fights. Though, she hoped that was the extent of settling alpha disputes for a while. It wasn’t long before the new shirt and tea arrived. Doctor Cayden came. But Octavio refused to be evaluated despite the efforts made to arrange care. They ate dinner and drank wine as they vehemently discussed each person’s perspective. Elle did not appreciate the wine brought into it. But the debate slowly went from a passionate argument to an ardent discussion.
FridayElle’s POVAfter finding out that Fiel and Octavio were fighting, Elle groaned and indicated he should lead the way. She followed him to the dining hall, where Fiel and Octavio were in each other’s faces with their snarling betas behind them. They both barred their teeth in aggressive growls.“It is evident that it was necessary,” Octavio spoke in low menacing tones as he pressed aggressively towards Fiel.Fiel wasn’t about to back down.“It appears that you are the one who truly needs to be placed in the shackles you speak of.”His accent was especially pronounced ri
FridayElle’s POV The arrival of Aza SkerpTand was the next day, and Arya dressed Elle in a brightly colored wrap with abstractly embroidered edges. She also wore colorful beaded bracelets and necklaces. Arya explained that it was the traditional clothing of their people and would be seen as a sign of respect.Elle knew Luna Skerptand was a formidable member of the council. Axel and Arya had only glazed over her despite Aza being the only female. So Elle was surprised to see her traveling without an alpha.Instead, she had two beautiful women at her side. All four of them were tall and sleek. Their features were perfectly carved stone
ThursdayElle’s POVKnocking on Corvin’s door, she called out to him. “Corvin! Remus! I need to have a word with you guys. Can I please come in?”There was no response. She pushed the door gently, and it opened into a pitch-black room. Before Corvin woke up, Remus kept a light on, at least. She took a quick tentative step into the darkness, deeply aware that she wouldn’t see a monster until it clutched her in its maniacal grip. She tried to ignore the dark whisperings of her mind about what could be in there, hidden within the menacing shadows. The door behind her opened.Elle swung around with her pulse pounding in her chest. Corvin stood at
ThursdayElle’s POV Before going into Alpha PataDiamante’s room, Elle saw Corvin haunting the halls and looking like a long-dead apparition, shadows fed by lack of color. His dark eyes peered out from the blackness of shadows, emphasized by the paleness of his skin—a stalking monster lurking in his gloom. When she left the playful festivities in Alpha PataDiamante’s room, she expected to see Corvin, but he was gone. Briefly, she considered going up to their apartment. But quickly decided against it because she was still angry with him. Besides, she had a ton of other things to do.Her first stop would be the kitchen. With
ThursdayElle’s POVWhen Arya came back to get Elle ready, she explained that Corvin was ‘not feeling well.’ Apparently, it was why he said and acted so callously. But Elle already knew that he wasn’t well. Her confirmation only made Elle feel more gloomy. Should she have been kinder, more understanding? As Arya did her make-up, she spoke about how Corvin was not ready to face the council. Elle secretly knew that. But it filled her with an unhappy apprehension to know she was still without him in this matter. When Elle met Fiel at the airport, he flirted heavily with a petite blonde as his men gathered all the bags. She waited for him to finish talking to her. Then Elle sauntered over, cheerfully greeting hi
ThursdayCorvin’s POVDespite laying in bed all night, Corvin couldn’t will himself to go to sleep. Then, the awful dreams would return. He let so many people down. Would he be eternally stuck paying for his sins this time if he went back?It was so damn tempting to never speak to anyone again. The fewer people he let in, the fewer people he would hurt. And he would save his own ruined heart just a little. What was worse, Remus blamed Corvin for Elle not being here. He didn’t say it outright, but he wouldn’t stop whining about her absence. How would Corvin ever be able to sleep with all that racket in his own head?
Thursday-Friday Corvin’s POV Remus wouldn’t stop howling and trying to push forward. Corvin struggled to hold him back. Never before had Remus struggled for control like he did when he was around Elle, especially when he sensed her distress. After Corvin reacted so harshly, Remus had pushed until he agreed to come in here, show his appreciation for what she had done, and apologize. He had done that. It was the right thing to do anyway, and he knew it. So why was she upset now? He heard her sniffle and the crack in her voice and when she turned around, her eyes were wet and puffy. Remus attempted to surge forward again. ‘I have to help
