I chuckle, “The moon man?” I ask, he smiles. “Yeah, the story all our parents would tell us to keep us in our beds at night, before we knew how to shift. You wanna hear it?” He says and I laugh, “Oh, I one hundred percent want to hear this story.” I say and he grins. “Alright, let’s get you home and I’ll call over the guys. Dallas is really the best at telling it.” He says and then walks me home, keeping his arm wrapped around me to keep me warm the whole time.I sneak a look at him, he really is beautiful. The way his eyes glow in the moonlight, the way his structured chin moves when he smiles, the way his hair moves with the wind so perfectly, he could be a god. Everything about him just screams perfection, and he wants me. I hadn’t realized he felt that way, back then and especially not now. Does Dallas know? Is that why he tried so hard to make me apart of the group?Liam looks down at me, while I’m still looking at him and our eyes lock. He pulls us to a stop when we’re almost pa
“Once upon a time, there was a young boy, about ten years old. He lived in a small village, and all of the townspeople were like one big family. They lived happily and peacefully. And one day they were set to celebrate at their town harvest festival. They would thank the Gods for their health and fruitfulness. They weren’t wealthy, but they were happy with what the Gods provided for them.”He turns off the flashlight and then dramatically turns it back on, “But then! In the middle of the celebration, the little boy heard the horses start making a lot of noise in the barn, so he went to settle them. The horses were very distraught about something, and he couldn’t settle them, one ended up kicking the little boy in the head, causing him to fall unconscious.”I look back at Liam confused of where this story was going. Then Dallas continues, “When the little boy woke up, he heard several strange voices coming from where the festival was taking place. So, he quietly peeked around the barn
I jump off the couch, “Well, I’m not going to be able to sleep now. So, you guys need to take my mind off of it before you leave.” I tell them and they all chuckle. “What’d you have in mind?” Cole winks. Liam grabs a pillow from the couch and throws it at Cole’s head, which gets a laugh out of everybody. I roll my eyes, “I don’t know. Mia’s better at coming up with stuff. Let me call her over here.” I say not really thinking about what time it was. I make the call and she told me she’d be here soon, but she has to sneak out.Once she gets here, she walks into my house and looks around. “Why is every light in your house on?” She asks me, I laugh because after I called her, I kept getting creeped out and felt the need to have every light on. The guys thought it was hysterical. “Ask your future leaders. They’re the ones trying to scare me to death over here.” I joke, and she looks at them accusingly. Cole throws his hands up in surrender, “Hey, not our fault Dallas is so good at telling
I suddenly can’t keep my eyes from his. He kept that stupid bunny all these years. “Oh so, not a stupid pink bunny.” Dallas says, sounding shocked. I finally tear my eyes away from Liam to look at them. None of them are making fun of him now, they all seem to understand now. I look back at Liam who’s still staring into my eyes, “Like I said Amy. I never forgot about you.”Mia breaks the moment between us, “Alright, very sweet. Liam it’s your turn.” Mia smirks at me and looks back at Liam. I’m glad she broke the moment, because I really wanted to kiss him right then, and I’d rather not put on a show for everyone. Liam closes his eyes for a moment and looks around the room. “Okay, Walker truth or dare?” Liam asks, Walker seems to think about it, “Well, I’m a little scared now, but truth.” Liam doesn’t even think about it, he was ready with his question, “What did you talk to Amy about when you two skipped school?” Liam asks and I look at him confused. Walker rolls his eyes, “Man, why do
She’s never been kissed? I guess, it makes sense, since no one really talked to her before now. Still, never? “Pick something else, Cole.” I say. Her first kiss will not be with Mia. Cole nods, and looks back at Mia, seemingly thinking of what to make her do now. “Alright fine, kiss Walker then.” Cole says, and we all roll our eyes at Cole not being able to get his mind out of the gutter. Granted I don’t know about Amy, she’s just now peeking out from her hands, seemingly hoping her embarrassment is over. I wouldn’t let them make fun of her, even if they planned to. But I think they’re all smart enough to keep their mouths shut right now.I pull her hands down from her face, hopefully her face is okay. She threw her hands over her face so fast, I’m sure that couldn’t have felt good with the cast. I hear Mia in the background complaining about how he just ate that crap and threw up, but my focus is on Amy. She’s trying not to look at me, it’s pretty cute. I look over her face and see a
The guard they have placed in front of Amy’s house is one of my fathers’ best warriors. I know I won’t be able to sneak passed him. I walk up to him, “Hey, Dimitri.” I greet him and he looks at me skeptically, but soon gives me a knowing smile. “Hey, Liam. What can I do for you?” He asks, the look on his face telling me he can read right through me. I don’t get nervous often, but lately with Amy I have started feeling that way. “Amy, called and wanted me to come over for a minute.” It’s all I could think of, hopefully it works. “Really? Her mom said there wouldn’t be any more visitors for the night.” Dimitri says skeptically. Fuck. I shrug and he smiles at me. He throws his head towards the door, and chuckles, “Don’t get caught. I’ll say I had no idea and beat your ass if she wants me to.” I smile and race for the door, I hear Dimitri huff and say “kids” under his breath. As I make my way quietly up the stairs and to Amy’s door.I peek in and Amy has her headphones in at her desk work
I wake up the next morning, feeling better then normal. What happened last night? I wasn’t expecting that at all. What does it mean? I mean I know I was willing to become friends with them again, since I could just see them around home and not have to worry about Clara anymore. But, that kiss. I can’t deny how amazing that kiss was. He says he wants to be my first and last kiss. But what does that even mean? He has a mate out there somewhere, and if he thinks I’m going to be his side piece. Yeah, that’s not happening.I walk downstairs and head to the kitchen for breakfast. My mind going all over the place about being happy or upset about that kiss.I slide into my chair at the table and look up at my mom smiling. She watches me suspiciously, “You’re rather happy today.” She says looking me over. I just shrug and look at the plate of chocolate chip pancakes and bacon she sits in front of me, my favorite. She chuckles, “What were you and your friends up to last night?” She asks, which
Liam walks me out of the house and starts leading me towards his. I’m so confused by what we’re doing. Why would we need old clothes to go to Liam’s house? I just go with the flow and let him pull me along, then he walks past his house. Then past the creek. When we stop, I’m standing in front of the old tunnel Liam and I found when we were kids that went across town. I look up at him confused, “What are we doing here?” I ask, honestly not understanding. This is a strange place to take someone. He smiles and starts dragging me into the tunnel.I have a sense of fear wash over me, I guess I’m not completely over everything that’s been done to me. I drop his hand once we’re barely inside and freeze. I’m sure my fear is written all over my face, but I can’t help it. Would there be a better place to kill someone and hide the body? I doubt it. This tunnel is never used and pretty well hidden, I doubt anyone’s been here since Liam and I found it.Liam looks back at me surprised, then seems t
My eyes open and I can see the sun shining through the curtains. I wonder how long I was out this time.Everything looks brighter, clearer, that scent. Goddess that scent! I throw my body up into sitting and look around. I’m in Liam’s room, I can smell it here, but my body starts moving before I can even give it commands.I look down, I’m wearing one of Liam’s t-shirts and it looks like some of my shorts. My legs take me to the hallway, down the stairs, through the living room and into the kitchen. My body freezes, ‘Mate!’ My wolf exclaims, just as Liam turns from putting a plate in the sink. My brain doesn’t process anything as my feet carry me to Liam and I jump into his waiting arms. Our lips clash in the next second, and it feels like I’ve come up for air. Like my bodies been held under water my entire life and I can finally breathe.I hear cheers go up around us, but I can’t focus on anything except my body pressed against Liam’s, my mate! Goddess, I never thought I’d say those w
This can’t be happening. Not again. She was left alone for five seconds! No!I watch as Dallas paces back and forth along the street, looking for her. Her scent disappears after we leave the porch. The only other scent is ours!Did her father find her?Everybody is looking, but we won’t find her. Not by scent, and she’s been gone too long that we’d see her.My mind races, as I try to figure out anything. Try to think of any plan. “Do you think maybe she ran again?” Cole asks softly behind me. A low growl leaves my throat.“How do you suppose she did that, Cole? She could barely walk! You think she just took off?” I scream at him. He puts his hands up, “Hey, I’m just pointing out all the possibilities! It wouldn’t be the first time!” He screams back at me.Already everybody is on edge. Fuck! I scoff, my hand running down my face. Then turn away from him. We’re just going to keep butting heads if I stay and argue.Hours we search for her. Hours! I can’t believe she’s gone again. The tho
Breathing heavily, trying to stay conscience, I look up at Andy. Who has taken a break from destroying me. “Why?” I ask, because he was never nice to me, but to team up with Clara… For this…He turns glaring at me, then shrugs. “Guess you won’t be leaving this room anyway. She’s, my mate.” I feel all the blood in my body freeze. What?!I’ve always been told mates mean everything to people that get them. Yet, he’s watching his mate try to get with someone else?“She’s going to become Luna, then kill Liam. Then I’ll be Alpha when she marries me.” He says with all the confidence in the world. I just shake my head at him, “She’s using you.” I tell him.He snarls at me, “You don’t know what you’re talking about.” He growls and I grimace. Not wanting him to continue beating me.“I know she’s loved Liam for as long as I can remember. I know she’s done everything to get rid of me to get to him.” I try to make him see. He just snarls again, “It’s all apart of the plan!” He shouts, coming to st
After throwing up black liquid for what feels like forever, I finally brush my teeth and walk out to the living room.Liam hasn’t left my side since I entered the bathroom, but Dallas grabs my hand as soon as I exit. Pulling me and Liam next to him, so he can be close to me.I lean my head on his shoulder and sigh. The pain in my stomach still there, but less. They walk me over to the couch, and I look for Hazel.I see her standing over the desk, holding all of her books and ingredients as she searches for something. She senses me looking at her and sighs heavily, then looks over at me. “I’m so sorry, Amy.” She whispers, and Dallas and Liam both tense next to me. I look at her confused, “For what?”She closes her eyes, taking a deep breath. “It didn’t work.” She says, then turns back to her things. It didn’t work.It didn’t work! All of that! And it didn’t work? I go to stand but can’t find the strength to fully pick myself up.“Damn it!!” Liam yells, standing next to me and helping m
We all stand in the field, waving good-bye to the helicopter until it was completely out of view, per Heather’s request. Granted I don’t think I could have stopped anyway, I feel like two pieces of my heart just flew away.I stand there clutching my heart, as Liam pulls me into his chest, kissing the top of my head. “They’ll be safe, and we’ll see them soon, Angel.” I nod, hoping like hell he’s right.Hoping everybody here is still standing when all of this is over. I look over at Hazel, who has tears in her eyes, and she smiles knowingly at me. “They’ll be okay.” She whispers and I nod.At least they won’t be in danger here.“Okay, let’s get this connection broken. The sooner we get things done, the sooner this can all finally be over.” Hazel says and everybody nods.We all stand in the living room of Liam’s house, while Hazel starts setting up around me.Candles at each point of a star she has placed on the ground, ingredients set up around me, that I’m not even sure I want to know
We stay up for hours, coming up with a plan. A plan to get the kids out and a plan for taking down my father. I’m trying so hard to stay awake, but I’m failing miserably. Liam keeps begging me to go to sleep, but I need to be apart of the plan. I can’t go into it half assed because I needed to sleep. The kids went to sleep a few hours ago so John and Julia are down here with us. “I don’t like this plan; I need to be here with the pack when this takes place.” John says, talking to Liam. “Dad, I get it, but you and mom are the only ones we trust to keep them safe.” Liam explains to him. Our group already got in a fight about this. I obviously can’t leave, which means Liam and Dallas won’t leave. Which means as Liam’s Beta Walker and Dallas’s mate Nick, they won’t leave. Which means Mia won’t leave. Hazel can’t leave, being our only witch which means Cole won’t leave as her mate. None of them are willing to sit aside while everyone else is in danger. So, in comes John and
Cole comes in carrying a small box of I don’t know what, but looking down at it. “Why was I sent on a mission to retrieve a bunch of random crap?” Cole says grinning looking up at Liam. Liam shrugs, “I don’t know, Hazel said she needed it.” Liam explains motioning to Hazel, Cole’s eyes follow his hand until they land on Hazel. The box of random crap falls to the ground, “Mate.” Cole nearly whispers, my eyes go wide as I stare between the two. “Hi Cole.” Hazel says casually. Cole walks over to her and kneels down next to her. “I asked for these things, specifically from you, because we needed to have a conversation before this…” She gestures between her and Cole, “was reveled.” I just gap at them, so happy that they found each other. Cole looks at the group frowning, “What conversation?” He asks, clearly not happy that he wasn’t included. I smile down at my hands shaking my head. She clearly wanted to have this serious talk, before her and Cole had their moment. Which t
I guess it makes sense that it’s my stress levels, every time the spells happen there’s some major thing happening. Granted, I’m not sure when my stress levels were ever at a normal degree lately. Liam goes on, “Okay, Hazel. Explain.” I know he wants to get this out of the way. See what explanation she has for why she did what she did to me. The plan will probably take up much more of our time than this. Hazel takes a deep breath, “Amy, you know I get feelings and can sense things that most people can’t.” She pauses and I nod. “Well, the night Nick and I got into a fight, not long after I joined you guys on the road. I had finally gotten the sense that you weren’t aware of Nick being a wolf. You were passed out in the hotel room so Nick and I went outside to talk about it. I told him I was going to tell you. I honestly didn’t really think about your father being the problem at the time, I just thought you deserved to know.” She pauses and looks at Nick sadly and he nods,
My cheeks are bright red as I sit up and face Heather. “You guys were kissing! Are you getting back together?” Heather exclaims loudly, I glance up at Liam and turn back to our daughter. “No sweetie, we got caught up in a moment, but your daddy and I have a lot to talk about. Let’s go downstairs and get something to eat.” I don’t look back at Liam, not wanting to know how he feels about what I said. I’m not sure it’s even true, I just don’t want to get my baby’s hopes up. They’ve been through enough with more to come, without adding this to the mix. I grab onto Heather’s hand and start leading her down the stairs, with Liam close behind. When we get downstairs Heather lets go of my hand and starts racing to the kitchen. “Griff! Griff! Mommy and Daddy were kissing!” She shouts to him and the entire room goes quiet staring between me and Liam. I can feel the heat rising in my cheeks. Goddess, if it wasn’t bad enough to have Heather see us kissing now everybody knows.
