Holy. Fucking. Shit.
When he pulled back, I stared at him, gobsmacked.
This was not normal ‘alpha- member’ behaviour.
What in the holy hell was going on?
I didn’t have to wait long.
He told it to me straight out. Too bluntly for my little brain to grasp at once.
“I want you to sleep with me as payback.”
I stared at him. My mouth hanging open in a shocking silence.
Holy mother shitballs.
Eventually, I managed to whisper, “You must have lost your mind.”
He kept staring at me, wordless.
His hand went into my hair and with a gentle pull he tilted my head back again.
“You are not serious! You can’t do this to me! We are not doing that!”
“Why not?”
He was calm as a peach, one of his hands was tangled in my hair and the other arm was wrapped around my waist. His hand rested on my waist like we did little flirtings before bed every night of our lives.
“I am not attracted to you. You are more like an older brother to me.”
“Is that why you took half naked, almost inappropriate photos of me?”
Damn it.
“Shirtless?”
Shit.
“Almost boxerless?”
“Okay fine! I get it already, Jesus!” I broke into his expert, one-glance-at-the-screen-was-enough memory lane. “I thought you don’t get involved with crazyheaded clingy girls within your pack.” At least that is what Nyx had told me.
“You are not a crazyheaded clingy girl from within my pack.”
“I am the niece of the man that is a member of your pack- whom you have invited at this pack house to help you with investigations!”
“I wanted you to come here. Hector was just an excuse. I lied.”
My eyes bugged out at this piece of news.
“What?”
“Hector has already given most of the information we needed for our investigation. I wanted you to live in front of my eyes at the pack house. Taking Hector’s help is just an excuse to keep you here at the pack house.”
Holy mother of God.
“...Why?”
“You are twenty years old, and hung up on me. Keeping you in front of my eyes will help me make sure you aren’t going around taking pictures of any other men.”
For fuck’s sake.
“I am not hung up on you!”
He grinned. “Yes you are.”
I do find him attractive but I am never going to admit it in front of anyone in the entire world. And obviously, the phone filled with his pictures was enough proof for him to prove his point.
I narrowed my eyes and he kept talking.
“I don’t need any entanglements. I don’t want to worry about where you are and what you are doing or if you are clicking pictures of men instead of minding your own business. And I don’t want to turn around and find another phone in your hands with my pictures in it.”
I hated to admit, he made sense.
But I was not going to admit that in front of him either.
“I had Zack go to your house to invite Hector to the pack house. I knew that was the easiest way to get you here.”
He shrugged, nonchalant, like he didn’t care and that pissed me off.
What an arrogant jerk! His gaze remained calm while still talking to me,
“I don’t like my privacy being invaded and I’m definitely not interested in finding you with another phone filled with other men’s pictures.” His voice was slightly edgy and a little scary. “Fortunately, you gave me the perfect opportunity to relay that to you by walking into my bed on your own tonight.”
Perfect opportunity, my foot!
He had no rights over what I do and how. And he definitely doesn’t have a right to put a leash around my neck to pull me to him as he pleased.
A knock came at the door, “Alpha, there is a call for you from Africa.”
“Fuck.” Marcus said, and glared at me, “don’t leave this room. I will be back.”
I nodded my head.
Like hell I won’t.
***
Nyx had yet to choose what she wanted to do in life aside from raising troubles all the time. Her ass can’t settle in one place for more than an hour and all things that she learned could never be a career choice for her.
Hence, the new hobby- keep track of Shadowblood Men.
Though she is a nice girl, she only clicked their pictures when they were in public places- hence making sure she is never invading their privacy. As crazy in the head as she was, she knew the boundaries she can’t overstep.
And of course, also because she didn’t want to be murdered by the hands of four alphas at such a young age.
When I met her the next day, told her about moving to the pack house and meeting Alpha Marcus, she was literally hyperventilating with excitement, having imaginations of Alpha Marcus wanting a night in the bed filled with sexual activities with me.
As I sauntered past the main doors, a cacophony of huffs and slams abruptly halted me in my tracks. The room was dimly lit, with a feeble stream of light struggling to make its way through a window. But it was enough to see what the heck was going on.
I walked in, and in the very end corner of the room, saw the bare back of a man, wearing a track pant. His body was moving rhythmically, letting the sandbag in the front come at him from different directions each time, and hitting it precisely with his fist.
My insides tingled with a strange feeling. My stomach fluttering. My feet were planted at the ground, unable to move forward or backward.
Deciding that leaving was the better choice than to confront the strange man whose bare back did weird things to my stomach, I took a step back, attempting to make my exit as silent as a mouse on a stealth mission.
Then the man turned around.
His hazel eyes meeting mine.
“May I help you?” he turned full frontal. His hands ripping the boxing gloves off his hands and throwing them on the table in the corner in one swift motion.
He was gorgeous. Like literally the most beautiful man I had ever seen.
Others would call him handsome or sexy, seeing that the body of his was wet from the sweat, dripping down the waist of his pants.
But for me… his eyes… I couldn’t breathe.
“Wrong room.” I said out loud, my voice weirdly high pitched.
I was itching to run. All this… whatever this was, I can’t take it anymore.
“I know you.” he said gently.
Say what?
“You do?”
“Stalker girl.”
SAY WHAT?
Run. Run. RUN!
I kept my mouth shut. I don’t know who he was or where he heard about the stalker thing, but this was outright not nice.
No, wait, this was just disrespectful!
“Who are you again?”
His magical charm was fading quickly.
He moved, walking in my direction. That overwhelming urge to flee intensified again.
“Ares Sloan.” he replied.
Ares Sloan?
He is one of them? The Shadowblood Men?
Here I had thought that it only happened once in a blue moon when you came across them.
“I know you. Stalker?”
"I don’t know what you are talking about." my face was burning.
I turned around, my heart racing, ready to flee from the room.
But in my haste, I collided with a cold, unforgiving metal table, the sharp edge cutting through my crop top and grazing my waist, causing a sharp pang of pain to shoot through me.
"Ah," I moaned, clutching my waist and biting my lip, hoping to suppress the pain.
He swiftly approached me, his hand reaching out to touch my waist. He leaned down to examine the wound, concern evident in his eyes. Without hesitation, he stood upright and gently took hold of my hand, guiding me into a smaller room that turned out to be a fully equipped kitchen.
We halted in the centre of the kitchen, and he carefully tilted my hips, causing my top to ride up slightly, revealing the angry red cut on the side of my waist. It was a superficial wound, not bleeding, but still stinging.
He swiftly grabbed a fresh towel from the drawers, wet it under the tap and then pressed it against the cut.
His eyes that were staring intently at me were now taking my mind off the pain in my waist because he was making the breath in my lungs burn. And he was also making other places burn that were not really visible with my clothes on.
"I can hold it," I offered, trying to take the towel from his grasp.
“I've got it," he replied firmly, his eyes locked onto mine.
"No, really..."
"I've got it," he repeated, his tone devoid of the usual playfulness and instead laced with a quiet determination and a touch of impatience that I had never heard from him before.
Ares was a good, sweet boy, always teasing, laughing, flirting and messing around as far as I had seen from Nyx’s videos.
Right now there was no messing around in his tone.
I stood tense and stiff, back to biting my lip while he held my waist from his one hand, the cold towel against the cut with the other. His fingers wrapped tighter around my waist and then pulled me forward. He was already close, but he brought me closer.
“Do you have a problem being alone with me?” he asked, when he was so close, I could smell him.
He smelled nice. Like nicer than any man I had ever come across.
Marcus was there at the top. But Ares just became my favourite.
I kinda got lost in a daze. His closeness, his scent… my mind stopped working.
“Sorry?”
“Do you have a problem being alone with me?” Ares asked again, his eyes looking into mine and I was in a stark realization that I’d never been this close to him.
He had great eyebrows and his dark eyes twinkled even when there was no sun shining in them.
I realized he had just asked me a question, which yet again, I had not heard properly.
“Sorry?” my words came out as a soft whisper.
I saw the corner of his lip curve up right before a smile spring up on his face. His hand slithered to my back to bring me even closer. So close that his body was pressed against mine and then he bent down to get closer to my face,
“I asked, do you have a problem being alone with me?”
“K- kinda. Yeah.” I said. My brain disengaging from my mouth.
His head bent lower.
“What problem?” his voice was low, calm and warm.
His face suddenly slid past my cheek, close to my ear.
“You smell divine.” he muttered. His thumb traced circles on my waist, leaving a trail of tingling sensations in its wake.
Without another word, Ares closed the remaining distance between us. His lips captured mine in a gentle, yet electrifying kiss.
His hand slipped to the back of my head, his tongue sliding right in, and over the seams of my lips, and then licked my tongue. I stirred at once, a soft moan escaping my lips. His touch and scent was like a desirable fire on my skin. Sweet, minty… and faint hint of musk.
His lips detached from mine and his face slid into my neck. I felt him inhale my scent deeply.
*Ding*
A notification sound of two water drops falling down in the water echoed from the counter on my side.
And then as if my skin had burned him with fire, Ares let go of my body at once and stepped back. I had to quickly grab the towel on my waist before it could fall down on the ground.
His hand snatched the phone from the counter, looking down at the screen.
A text from ‘Daisy’; the notification showed.
He swiped back the curls that fell on his forehead before lifting his head up to look at me again. His eyes no longer soft. A hard, frustrated, almost angry and unbothered look replaced his gaze as he then stepped to the side, and walked out of the room without a word.
It took a few minutes before the daze lifted and I came back to my senses and realized what had just happened.
I… kissed… Ares Sloan?
Shaken, I walked out, and had to lean against the wall to take deep breaths and get my mind back. After finally gathering myself, I directly walked toward my class in the other block of the building.
Something was wrong.
The entire building was silent. Too silent for my liking. There was not even the sound of any footsteps except mine, and that's what scared me. I walked inside, feeling strange, but nothing seemed out of the blue.
And that’s when I heard it. A rough, furious growl,
“Kneel!”
I flipped around, startled at the sound.
There was no one behind me. The voice had come from somewhere close.
“Please… please… I can’t take it anymore.” a man sobbed desperately, his voice cracking,
“it’s been three days. Everyone-” hick, “everyone ha- has been throwing my things away. They've taken everything from me. They threw away my belongings, hacked my bank account, drained every penny my parents had saved for my college education. T- they,” sob, “they don’t even let me eat at the pack table anymore. Alpha…” His cries grew louder, his anguish palpable, and I could feel my heart breaking into a million pieces from the desperation in his words,
“Alpha please. I am begging you. Please… withdraw the black card.”
I followed the direction of the voice, the path leading me toward the empty cafeteria.
I stood outside, about to peek inside the hall.
“KNEEL on your knees, dumb motherfucker!”
I jumped at the sound, revealing myself out of the corner of the hall.
And that’s when my gaze met a familiar set of dark eyes. They were cold, unfeeling, and fiery.
I had never been able to forget about the entire wolf thing in this pack. But lord… his eyes brought a terrifying reminder about it.
Alpha Marcus stood in front of me. A man kneeling close to his feet, his face stained with tears. His body trembling like a dry leaf.
Marcus’ eyes shined with a look that I had never witnessed before in my entire life— a gaze filled with danger and threat.
But this time, his words were aimed at me.
"OUT!"
I realised I was in trouble at that point, and a sense of panic washed over me. Tremors ran through my body as I cautiously shifted my gaze, trying to avoid direct eye contact with him. Instead, my eyes drifted past him, landing on the intimidating figures standing behind him. Alpha Ares, tall and imposing, leaned casually against the wall, his strong frame supported by the unyielding surface. The two other men that stood next to him, dressed in sleek, all-black clothes, had their eyes pinned to me. My attention was immediately drawn to the first man’s mesmerising green eyes and the intricate tattoo that adorned his muscular arms. His long hair cascaded over his shoulders, adding to his enigmatic appeal. Derek Ray. There was a smirk on his face. After all, he was the first one who had branded me as a ‘stalker’ and now he was probably smacking a ‘see, I was absolutely right’ across my face with his eyes. Standing next to him was a man with a thin but very visible scar across hi
Marcus and I appeared on the screen. And then the video cut to him slapping the plate across my face. The video played on a loop, mocking me for challenging an alpha like a damn fool. His cruel words echoed through the hall, seeping into my very core once again. My legs shook beneath me, and I could feel the weight of humiliation settling upon me once again. I had barely set foot in this pack, and already I had become a target for mockery. My heart pounded so hard that I got dizzy. The anxiety, the panic taking over my senses. He had to do it to show me who ruled? To show me that I should know my place and never challenge him…? That fucking bastard. That god damn bastard! My fingers clenched around the railing of the stairs, my vision getting blurred with fury. He had the audacity to humiliate me, to dump food on my face. He didn’t even know me, yet he acted as if he had the right to control me. He had no right! I stormed right inside the pack hall, my entire body shaking
I left the hospital room and returned to my own bedroom. First, I called Uncle Hector and Nyx one after the other, informing them that I was out of danger and shared the details of my punishment. The next day, I had devised a plan to attend all my classes, using them as an excuse to spend at least twelve hours of the day away from Alpha Marcus. And after that, it is going to be what? Like four hours when he asks me to do random shit for him? That was okay. I could tolerate three hours for two weeks. So, happy as a button, I walked to my first class with a spring in my step. And then that happiness went poof in the air the very second I entered the classroom. Alpha Marcus stood before me with his hands in his packets, his hips leaning against the table. And there were whispers echoing in the entire hall by the shell shocked boys and girls who had never even got to see him face to face ever before, let alone in their classroom so closely. Marcus's head turned in my direction the
“Aw… ahh…..” I flinched and then whimpered, trying to push him away. But he grabbed the other side of my throat with his palm, restricting my movement, and licked over the spot with his tongue, soothing the burn. He then bit that spot again. “Goddd…” I whimpered again, my voice shaking terribly, but he rolled his tongue on the skin before pulling back from me. With a gaze filled with pride, he stared at the spot he had bitten with his teeth. His eyes then met mine again, his tongue licking his lips with a starved look in his eyes. I gulped hard, trying to shake off the cloud he had cast over me. It felt almost impossible to regain my composure, but I gathered my resolve and shook my head at him, pushing against his presence. "Back off now. Enough," I whispered, my voice hoarse and trembling. He did step back, but his heated gaze remained locked onto me. Leaning against the edge of the table with his hip, he crossed his arms over his chest. I slid down from the table on my shaky
“This doesn’t feel right. Get out. Come and sit next to me.” He replied blankly. Oh for the love of fucking god! This man and his neverending tantrums! “What is your problem? You want me to sit in the front or you don't want me to sit in the front? Why do you keep changing your mind?!” Ares was staring at me with a shocked gaze. His eyes then slid to Marcus as he muttered, “Don’t you dare attack her.” Marcus’ jaw clenched so tight, that I was scared he was going to reach out, grab me by my collar and drag me to the front. But instead, he turned in his seat to look at me directly, and gritted out, “Sit. In. The. Front. Fucking. Seat!” He growled again. “You are so damn childish.” I gritted under my breath as I got off. “Dare you repeat that?” His threatening growl followed my back. Ignoring it, I got in the front seat next to him and we drove off. I was not comfortable initiating any type of conversation with any of them. With Marcus, because, well, he is Marcus. And with Ares,
He leaned in and kissed me. Lips, tongue, and a lot of him. Everything of him. His taste, his skin, his softness and roughness. Everything deep. It slid into my mouth, caressing the soft skin and licking up the nectar that my tongue brought and taking everything away. They continued their descent, tracing a path down the side of my neck, setting my skin ablaze with desire. A low whisper escaped his lips, his warm breath grazing my ear. “This mark is already fading,” he murmured, his thumb gently caressing the spot on my neck where he had left his mark earlier in the morning. “Ah…” I cried out. A shot of burning sensation went straight to the nub between my legs when he grazed that spot. A mix of pleasure and vulnerability coursed through me at the reminder of what he had done to me in that classroom. “Your neck looks more beautiful with my mark on it.” My breathing grew ragged, my chest rising and falling rapidly as I struggled to catch my breath. The sensations coursing through
He grabbed his phone from the table and approached me, “We caught the person who spread that video of you. Let’s go. It’s a girl, so I can’t leave her in the dungeons until tomorrow for punishment.” I stiffened. “The video... the same one that-“ “Yes, the same one that almost drove you to kill me.” “That wasn’t the reason I tried to kill you though,” I muttered under my breath. “You shouldn’t have insulted me.” Before I could finish my words, he was in my personal space, his intensity palpable. “Sunshine, I can hear you even when you mumble under your breath.” I furrowed my brows and looked up at him. “Good. I wanted you to hear it anyway. I haven’t let that go yet! And why do you keep calling me that?” “What?” “Sunshine,” I emphasised, my frustration evident. “That’s not my name. In case you’ve forgotten, it’s Milli.” He grinned mischievously and leaned in, planting a kiss on my lips. “You look like the brightest thing in the world when you’re naked in my bed. So even when it
I pushed those thoughts aside, "Yes, thank you," *** When I awoke, I was cocooned in warmth. A soft weight nestled on my stomach, and as I stirred, my face brushed against something both plush and solid. "Marcus?!" His eyes blinked open, his hair tousled and his body radiating a disheveled allure. Shirtless, save for his trousers, he had draped one leg over mine, and his hand rested tantalizingly close to the underside of my breast. In an instant, he seized my arm and pulled me close, “Get back to sleep.” his grumbled in a low voice. Oh lord. The morning voice. I wasn’t prepared for this, but the man had the morning, low growl of a god. I stumbled, falling back onto the bed next to him, his strong arms enveloping me in a tight embrace. He nestled his head atop mine, holding me as if protecting a cherished treasure. But I forcefully blinked my eyes and gathered the strength to pull away. I pulled away, pushing against his chest and moving my body back. I snapped at him, m
~Milli~The world spun around me in a whirl of chaos."Uncle… please… Wake up!" My voice trembled as I struggled against the grip that was crushing my neck.Panic clawed at my chest as his hold tightened, making it hard to breathe. His eyes blazed with a furious red, like he was trapped in a nightmare he couldn't escape. Those burning eyes felt like they were seeing right through me, as if he saw a stranger in my place.Blackness edged my vision, my strength waning. His grip was a vise, threatening to snap my neck any moment. Just as I teetered on the edge of losing consciousness, Marcus appeared out of nowhere. With a swift move, he wrapped his arms around my uncle's neck and yanked him ba
I wiped the blood from my nose as he picked up the call immediately."Daisy?"The voice on the other end spoke for a few minutes. His face grew paler with each passing second as he ended the call, then immediately rushed to his room."Ares!" I called after him multiple times, but he was already gone without even a glance in my direction.Struggling to my feet, I managed to get up. Soon after, Ares descended the stairs with a bag in his hands and hurriedly left the pack house. His face was ashen, as if he'd seen a ghost.I wasn't sure what was happening or what news he had received, but one thing was crystal clear: Daisy would always be his top priority, eve
His body stilled immediately as if I had hit him. I didn't even see his face when he abruptly detached from me and left the room without giving me another glance.Turning towards my bed, I buried my face in the pillow, tears soaking the fabric as my body shook with sobs.***"Milli, you're mated to Kai?" My uncle's voice echoed in my ears, a mix of surprise and concern evident in his tone. It brought back a sense of nostalgia but he was too far away for me to hug himI mustered a faint smile, attempting to infuse some cheerfulness into my voice. "Yes, Uncle. I didn't want to bother you while you were busy with the investigation. I'm sorry I couldn't let you know earlier."His voice held a note of caution. "Are you doing
In front of me stood five men, accompanied by two large, wild-looking wolves with patches of black fur. Their clothes were tattered, washed out, and full of holes.…Rogues?I swallowed hard, shuffling back on the ground, my instinct urging me to flee from them as soon as I could. The men stared at me as if I were their next meal. The wolves were thin, but four times larger than any wolf I had seen in my life. Their gazes dripped with bloodthirst/The one who had grabbed my hair was the largest among them.My heart raced even faster, but then one of the wolves lunged at me.It tore off my top, leaving me in my bra. "No, back off!" I screamed trying to fight off the wolf as its claws scratched my skin.
I entered the pack hall the following day. Thankfully, Kai hadn't returned to the bedroom the previous night. Despite my fear, I struggled to fall asleep until the early morning hours, constantly on edge, fearing his arrival at any moment. The lack of sleep weighed heavily on me as I made my way to the hall. Upon arriving, I noticed that everyone had already finished breakfast. Silently, I ate my own meal while overhearing hushed conversations and glances directed my way."Hey," a gentle voice caught me off guard from behind. Startled, I looked up and saw Ares standing before me.I stood up, the sudden movement making me feel dizzy. Ares swiftly steadied me, preventing me from collapsing, and helped me back into my seat.Taking a place in the chair next to me, he faced me directly. "Are you feeling better now?""Somewhat," I whispered, my voice barely audible, unable to speak in a loud voice without feeling a throbbing ache in my head.”"You turned out to be Kai's mate," he remarked
~Milli~An unfamiliar sensation surged through my veins, jolting me awake. Gasping for air, I blinked my eyes open to a world of disorientation. My breath came in heavy bursts as a searing pain coursed through my neck, a painful trail that seemed to burst my veins. With an instinctual grip, I clutched onto the shoulders of the man who was biting my neck, pushing him away.My eyes widened as I realized it was Kai."What are you..." My voice trembled, my mind struggling to form coherent words.Relief washed over his face, transforming his features into a happy smile. His hand cupped my face, "You're awake? Oh, thank the gods, you're awake!"
~Marcus~ The fire that surged within me as I watched Ares stroll out of the pack house hand in hand with Milli was blinding. My grip on the vodka bottle tightened as I snatched it off the counter, downing its contents in a single gulp. Just as I moved to follow them, Derek stepped in front of me, blocking my path. "Marcus, this event's far from over. There are still hours ahead. Keep your wits about you." "Step the hell aside," I growled, the sight of him igniting an indescribable rage within me. He had the audacity to kiss Sunshine, even though he damn well knew she belonged to me. I shoved him away and caught a glimpse of Ares and Milli vanishing through the doorway. Clamping my jaw, I yanked my phone out and fired off a message - 'Blacklist: Milli Jane.' I stormed out of the damn house. "You finally witnessed that bitch's true colors?" Kai drawled, leaning against the pillar outside, another bottle of whiskey dangling from his fingers. He moved toward me, blocking my path,
As I stepped out of Derek's car, my mind began to clear and the haze of the drinks dissipated. Nervousness and tension gripped each of my steps as I entered the pack house, which was now abuzz with people dressed in elegant attire, a stark contrast to my own appearance. As soon as I walked in, my gaze met Marcus' intense eyes, fixed right in the center of the hall."Are you planning to stand by the entrance all night?" Derek's voice whispered beside my ear, making me flinch.I quickly moved forward, reaching Marcus. He had been drinking heavily. I could smell it from where I stood. His jaw was tightly clenched, eyes burning through me. The moment I came to stand in front of him, he asked,"You kissed Derek?"
I quickly averted my eyes."What's that?" I pointed. It looked like something out of a fairytale, a princess's grand display with a large stage in the middle. There were young girls and boys standing around, grinning, holding hands.Nyx's lips curled into a mischievous grin."Tell me the truth, not your version," I warned. She rolled her eyes with a dramatic sigh. "Gosh, you're always on to me. How do you know I was going to lie?""You get that evil gleam in your eyes, the one that gives me shivers.”"Fine," she huffed, "It's t
