At first I thought we were going back to the Pack house, but Alex brought me to this forest. He unbuckled his seat belt and got out of the car. I followed him out of the car and tried to look at his face in the darkness. Since this afternoon the sky looked cloudy like it was going to rain, so tonight the moon and stars were only faintly visible because they were covered in gray clouds.

"Why did we come here?" I asked Alex who was standing with his back to me.

"Because I want to talk alone with you without interruption at all," he replied. He turned to me and took my hand again and led me down the path. His big hands felt very warm as they held me, the slight emptiness and numbness that had appeared in my heart before was now replaced with a bit of warmth.

Alex walked slower than usual, his gaze fixed straight on the darkness of the forest. I want to know what's in his head right now, what he's thinking, what he's feeling even though I can already guess a bit because after all I'm the
