Saying that I was so shocked is the one thing that completely described me when I heard Evie say she doesn't remember me. It was fun at first but when I realized that she was deadly serious I couldn't do anything but stand there and look at her like she was some sort of an alien.
On the other hand, though, what am I supposed to do, or say?
After we called for the doctor we had to exit the room and Lora called her parents. They came as soon as they heard. The moment they stepped foot in the hospital we could hear George yelling at nurses demanding to see his daughter. After calming them down, we sat with them waiting for the doctor.
We didn't talk much though, we just sat in silence. You could hear a pin drop.
The doctor stepped out of the room and took George and Ellen to his office.
The thoughts in my mind were driving me crazy. I could not think straight. I had to think of the deal that would be obviously delayed or maybe even canceled, but I also thought of Evie. She must feel so alone and terrified.

A hand on my shoulder took me away from my thoughts. I turned around and saw her father. I looked around, but no one else was there. George must have noticed that my eyes were scanning the space around us and informed me that his wife was with Evie, who was now sleeping, and our friends, Lora and Jordan, have gone to grab some coffee, so it was just me and him.
"Alexander, we need to talk about Evie. It is very important," he said and we sat down at the plastic chairs of the hospital.
"Look, George, I completely understand if you want to cancel the arrangement with the whole amnesia thing. We can find another way to combine our business. Evie's health should come first." I said before he could say something, but he simply shook his head.
"On the contrary, Alexander, I believe that this is our opportunity. Evie didn't accept the wedding before, but the doctor said that the traumas on her head need a lot of time to heal," he said.
"I don't understand George, what are you talking about?" I asked trying to seem oblivious to his ridiculous offer.
"I am simply suggesting to take advantage of my daughter's accident. If we can persuade Evie that she wanted to marry you and we do not mention the arrangement, we both benefit. I know you'll treat her right Alexander." he said. I couldn't believe my ears. What kind of a father is he?
"How can you even say such things?!" I asked in disbelief "She is your daughter, not some toy you can give away. And what happens when she wakes up one day and realizes that her life is a big fat lie, huh?!" I was beyond mad at the moment.
"Look, Alexander, I know my child and I know what's best for her. Evie has already been through so much in her life and I wouldn't want to be the cause of further pain. That's why I think we should go through with this deal. If you don't want that I understand, but just know, I am not as heartless as you think" he said and looked down.
"What do you mean she was in pain?"I asked curiously.
"Last year Evie had a terrible accident. She had a boyfriend, Leon, they were very in love. He proposed to her and of course, she said yes. A month later, they were part of an accident, my daughter was driving. A truck hit their car and when the ambulance came, we all thought they were both dead. Fortunately, Evie was perfectly fine, nothing more than some minor injuries but Leon... he was in the surgery for endless hours and Evie wouldn't leave his side for a second. About four days later they informed us that, Leon didn't make it. Evie had a very bad break down. She was unconscious for almost 48 hours. When she woke up, they ran some tests and it turns out she was pregnant, but the baby died, due to the stress and the fact that she didn't take care of herself." when George finished I was looking at him not being able to believe what he just said.
"She shut herself out, she stopped talking to us, she was listening to sad songs and the only thing she did was studying for school. And that's when she didn't mourn for Leon and their child. Alexander, I am not as a bad father as you may think I am. It took me a lot of courage to talk to Evie about the deal. But the moment I saw how much you care for her and how you took care of her during the past hours I was certain I was doing the right thing for her," he finished and looked at me.
"I just did the humane thing to do. Why don't we leave her to choose on her own? Why do we have to force her?" I asked a bit angry.
"Because if I know another thing about my daughter is that she is quite obstinate. She won't agree, because I was the one who proposed this," he said.
"So, Alexander, do we have a deal?" he said.
I had to think about it. I mean...
There were so many risks and that would be very unethical, but...
"Deal," I said and we shook our hands.
"Who is going to tell her?" I asked George.
"My wife is on it at the moment," he said smiling.
"How did you know I would agree?"
"I am not blind nor naive Alexander. If she was just a business deal for you then... let's just say that right now you would probably at your apartment waiting for my call, to assure you that she is alive," he said. I knew that there was some truth in his words.
Suddenly the door of her room opened.
"George... She wants to see Alexander." her mother said stepping out, with tears in her eyes.
"Is she okay, Mrs. Harrison?" I asked her mother.
"Yeah, she is fine. Just, Alexander, please try to be tender and sweet with her. She's been through a lot and she deserves so much better. She thinks that you are mad or something because she doesn't remember you. Please relieve her. I beg of you as her mother," she said and I felt so bad for what I was about to do. She was about to continue when her husband gave her a look. I walked towards her door.
I opened the door and I was shocked by the scene before me. Evie was on the floor trying to rip all the tubes out of her. Again.
"We have to stop meeting like this..." I said and ran to her. She looked up at me but continued what she was doing.
I kneeled beside her and held her in my embrace. She tried to push me away but she was unsuccessful. I lifted her and we laid together in the bed.
"I'm sorry..." she said through her sobs.
"Shhh. Don't worry, love, everything is just fine. How are you doing?" I said and I felt her breaths even.
"I'm okay, I guess. Just- Can we-?" she was afraid to ask.
"What is it, love? Just tell me what you want me to do and consider it done," I said as calm as I could. I just wanted her to calm down. My heart ached every time she cried.
"Can we go? I don't want to be here..." she said and hugged me more tightly.
"Of course, love," I said and when I was about to get up, she held me back.
"What is it?" I asked when I saw the terror in her eyes.
"Please, don't go. Tell my dad to make any needed arrangements, just don't go. I don't want to be alone in here." she said and her eyes got teary again.
"Whatever you want, love," I said and took out my phone to text George.
"I'm just texting your dad, love. Don't worry we'll be out of here in no time." I informed her.
I hugged her again and we laid on the bed.
I was so feeling guilty at the moment.
What am I going to do...
The moment Evie's words left her mouth, I felt devastated. And on top of that, her parents agreed with that man, Lockwood, and now not only does she have to marry him, but also, she is to believe that they are in love and willingly engaged! What makes me even more frustrated is the fact that I can't do anything about it! I was walking up and down the corridor of the hospital trying to figure something out. What if I kidnapped her? "Whatever you're thinking I'm pretty sure it won't work. Not when you frown that much…" I heard a voice behind me and turned around fast enough to get myself a nasty cramp. I eyed the man in front of me. He had the typical playboy image, styled hair, designer clothes, and a smirk that makes you feel weak in the knees. If I didn't know better I would say he was a good guy, but Jordan Black was far from it. "Jordan, right?" I looked at Alexander's friend who was smirking at me. "Yes indeed. And you are? I don't
After George talked with the doctor and filled in the paperwork, we were finally able to leave the hospital. Evie had fallen asleep in my arms while we were driving back to my penthouse. George decided it would be best if we started living together so that her memory would -and I quote- 'come back' sooner. I really feel bad but what's done is done and there's nothing I can do about it... I look down at her. She is so calm, so oblivious of everything that's happening around her... When we arrived at the building, she was still sleeping so I just picked her up bridal style, and walked inside. The elevator ride was silent but then I felt Evie moving. She didn't wake up though. She was probably dreaming. She moved again and that's when she started mumbling things in her slumber. She was having a nightmare. "Evie, it's just a dream," I whispered in her ear but she wouldn't listen to me. She started moving more intensely and she was now scr
I was walking down a dark alley and then suddenly a shadow appeared out of nowhere. He lunged at me but I kicked him and started running. I ran and I ran but there was never an end to this hell. Another figure appeared and tried to do the same. I continued running and I looked behind me for a brief moment. Big mistake... The two figures approached me rapidly when I fell on something or actually someone hard. I looked up and I screamed at the top of my lungs. This can't be happening to me. The man held me strongly in his arms. "Leon, let me go! Please..." I said but my voice broke and it came out more like a whisper. "Not a chance sweetheart. You killed me! Now it's my turn!" he growled through his teeth. I looked at him. At the man I once loved... he had changed so much. He had a huge scar on his left cheek and instead of his kind and warming smile he had an evil grin plastered on his face.
After everything that happened, and for the sake of my sanity, Alex actually talked with his dad and they worked some things out. He explained to him that I am his fiance and not just another random girl, and he seems to have accepted that. So, Harry and I got to know each other and turns out he is a really funny and outgoing person. I quite enjoyed my time with him.I can still remember the look on his face the night after their talk.I was sitting on the couch watching TV when the door opened suddenly and in walked Alex with Harry. The one came straight at me kissing my forehead and after a quick and almost inaudible "See you in a bit", I was left alone in the room with Harry. He was standing in the corner of the room looking everywhere but me."I won't bite you if you walk closer." I said breaking the silence."It's not that. After the last time I saw you, I feel so embarrassed. I shouldn
I was sitting on my bed relishing the calm that was in the house. My date with Jordan was a few days ago. He took me to a restaurant, and we actually had a good time. I honestly did not expect him to be so easygoing and fun."And then Xander kicked the door open and left the entire meeting shocked!" he finished his story. We were sharing stories about our friends."No way!" I was laughing so hard. Thank god we were in a more secluded room, or else the entire restaurant would be looking at me funnily."What about you? No fun stories?" he asked and after looking back at mine and Evie's lives, I replied with a story of my own."Well, there was this one time, when Evie and I were really young, and she was over at our place with her parents. We didn't have much fun back then, because our parents -mostly hers- were obsessed with 'proper manners'" I said imitating Helen Harrison as best as I could, "and we neve
Today I was swamped at the office. I kept thinking about Lora and the day just wouldn't go by. I was so out of it.The moment I got home I was greeted by Max, my german shepherd, and then I immediately went to bed. God, today was exhausting...I had been sleeping for a couple of hours when the phone rang. I checked the caller ID and Lora's face popped up on the screen."Angel?" I heard Lora pant. Was she running?"I need help! There- There was someone in my house, and now I'm running, and there's no one around here." She said and I heard her soft sobs. I was out of bed in a heartbeat."I'll be there in a few. Keep moving and go towards the small gas station, ok? The one that's on the way to your house?" I instructed her and grabbed my car keys. There was a long silence, nothing but pants could be heard on the other side of the phone."Angel? Are you there?""Yeah... I'll see you in a bit." I heard her reply as I was getting in my car.
"So how are you keeping up honey?" Lora asked when we sat down at the luxurious sofas in the living room. She kept looking over her shoulders. Derek and Jack were sitting at the other end of the room."Don't worry about them. They look intimidating, but once you get to know them you'll see that they are quite the cinnamon roles!" I joked and the guys send playful glares my way."You know, it's been really weird if I'm being honest, I never really expected to be in a situation like that and now I'm thrown in it. But! Alex has been so sweet and supportive and kind and so understanding through this whole thing and you can't imagine how helpful that has been. I don't know how we used to be before my accident but I can surely tell you that I really care about this man, Lora... I don't know if I'd call this love -it's too early for that- but there is something there... I guess I'll just have to wait and see..." I said honestly and Lora was looking at me dumbfounded.I
"Evie! Are you still there??" I heard my best friend's voice on the other end of the phone talking to me."Yeah, Lora. I'm here" I almost whispered through my sobs."So... what happened girl. It better be serious because I canceled a manicure session for you" Lora said seriously. She is a very witty girl, from an extraordinarily rich family as well. Her dad, Ian Grand, is one of my father's good friends. They were best friends all their lives and helped each other no matter what. Lora has brown hair and hazel eyes. Her mom is a fashion designer, and we model for her from time to time. Lora and I were raised together, and we are and will be best friends for the rest of our lives."Actually, I was thinking you could come over," I said, my voice weak from crying."Oh, Evie... What's wrong?" Lora said."The thing is that something bad happened. Like bad. And I really need you I cannot go through this alone. " I said with a broken voice and start

I tried to open my eyes but the light was too much to handle. I felt my body ache...My arms, my legs, not to mention my abdomen. It felt like a hundred needles were piercing my entire body.I tried harder and harder and I eventually managed to move my eyelids, the light was too bright but I opened them. I had to...I looked around. I was definitely not in my bedroom...The place around me looked like a hospital. The walls, as well as the floor, are white. There are curtains in a light shade of blue covering the window. A chair is beside me but there's no one there... I look at my body and my hands are full of cables connected with all kinds of machinery. On the screens, there are strange numbers and measurements and a steady beeping fills the room.Even though my body is so tired and heavy I have to get up and get the hell out of here... During the last year, I had developed a fear of hospitals... Not the best experiences... Not after what happened...&nbs
