SANTIAGO
“I understand, but you need to earn that respect and trust or it won’t work. Show me you deserve my trust, respect and love and I will consider finishing the bond and standing with you, not behind you. I am your equal or nothing at all.” She says through gritted teeth, my anger flaring up at what she demands, at what she threatens me with.
She turns on her heels and walks out the bathroom. For hell, I ain’t finished with her. “Get back here.” I growl lowly. Diego pushes forward, offended by her words. “Equals. She isn’t and never will be our equal. Fucking she-wolves!” He huffs and pushes me to follow her.
Of course she doesn’t listen, I hear the door open and her leaving my bedroom. Great, now I have to follow her. I turn on my heels, darting after that stubborn as hell Mate of mine.
She is already halfway down the hallway, her hair flowing on her back as she paces towards the stairs. She twirls around as she hears me pacing through the hall

ADRIANA “I think you’d freeze it before anything else, you’re up for breakfast?” Santiago chuckles, jumping from one ridiculous statement to one more reasonable. Maybe someone hit him hard on the head after I left, trying to knock some sense into it but knocked the remaining last bit out instead. “I’d do what?” I ask, biting the words more than I want. He just looks at me with an amused smile on his face, leaning back against the wall. “You made the temperature drop this morning. I don’t know how or what but Ximena thinks you are a gifted wolf.” I walk over to him, shaking my head in disbelieve. “I might be, but this sure as hell never happened before. I really made the temperature drop?” I ask, studying his face as he answers. “Yup, you made it cold enough for me to see my own breath form clouds in the air in front of me. Diego was quite impressed and so was I.” He says, his eyes amused and curious. “Wow.” Is all I mutter. “Come on, let’s get you som
ADRIANA The realization dawns on me and goosebumps litter my skin. A breeze catches my attention, the notes of wild lavender, camomile and other herbs taking me back to the the early beginnings of my nightmares. But instead of the nightmares playing behind my eyes in broad daylight I ended up with flashes of memories of the witches’ their lives. The love they shared for a hispanic man with long hair and a short beard. A farmer they helped deliver a calf, a sickly girl they nursed back to her health for her parents , the dances they organized with the villagers. Another farmer for whom they revived his land so he could grow decent crops, the werewolf they healed after a vampires bite, the forest fire they helped to extinguish and how they where taken in by the werewolf pack once Andalusia became more hostile towards witches. The final memory leaves me with a feeling of pure bliss, the eldest of the two sisters just found out she was pregnant. The
ADRIANA His paw pushes on my back, growling he keeps me nailed to the ground. Fuck. Okay, breath in, breath out. Maybe if I calm down, he will. I try to take deep breaths, though it’s hard with his heavy paw on my back and my mind racing a million miles an hour. Teasing me with questions about him, about our mating, about that vampire that somehow gave me sparks, about my mother, about my ancestors. Everything just turns into one big shit storm, when we spend some time together. Finally I manage my breathing to relax and the storm in my head calms down. Diego is still pushing me down to the ground, his emotions finally seeping into me. Anger, frustration, confusion, laced with a hint of disbelieve and worry. “Diego, you’re hurting me. I’ve calmed down. Please lift your paw, I won’t run.” I say, my voice hoarse from the pressure on my back and the fight we just had. He sniffs my head and neck, breathing in my scent and s
SANTIAGOI walk out to the back of the house I assigned for Adriana’s family as long as they stay here. She follows me on foot and I can practically feel her eyes burning on my back, it’s cute how she says she doesn’t want me but her actions betray her every time.Though I have to say, when she gets on my nerves there is nothing cute about her. Not even to mention that she might possess magical powers, I don’t even know what to think about that. I hate everything about witches, vampires and other magical beings but she’s my mate. How could I ever hate her?My thoughts are cut short when we reach the back of the house and Rover comes running over, screaming for his sister. Tears run down his face and he pushes me out of the way before he leaps up and into her arms. Adriana catches him, covering his face in kisses.Gerard comes walking over and pulls his kids in for a hug, I hear some stumbling upstairs and a few seconds later
SANTIAGO I open up a mind link with Poté. “Poté, inform all patrolling wolves they are not allowed to let Adriana and her family off the pack grounds and come to my office.” “Yes Alpha, i’ll be there in five.” He answers instantly, though I can hear the confusion in his voice. I look around the room, shards of the coffee pot and mugs laying on the floor, pieces of bruschetta are spread all around and the tray is got stuck in the big Monstera in the corner. Great. While cursing myself that I had such an outburst, I clean up the mess I made. I check the old magic books Teresa brought and find out they are still unscathed. “Thank fuck, I think she would have poisoned us in our sleep if her precious books got harmed.” Diego chastises in the back of my mind. He lazily stretches his paws and lays down, watching me sort out the books, articles and papers on my desk. Moments later a soft knock on the door sounds before it swings open. I look up and Poté enter
ADRIANA I cut the link. I somehow missed you, goddess could it be more embarrassing, I hardly know the guy. Though I also know that somewhere there is some truth to it. I mean I had a great day but I couldn’t stop thinking about how it would be like to share it with him. He could be a real dick but when we weren’t fighting we were going really good and I liked every minute spend with him. Though that could also just be the bond’s work, pulling me to him. I don’t know, all I know is my feelings are all over the place. “What up, you’re trying to imitate a tomato or something?” Jenna chuckles, nudging my side with her elbow. Ximena looks up from her seat next to Rover, she is coloring in some drawings with him. He had her wrapped around his finger in no time. “Nah, I just said something stupid across the mind link.” I say softly and Jenna scootches closer. “Tell me.” “Okay, just don’t laugh okay. I told him I missed him today.” I mutter softly.
ADRIANA I bounce on his shoulder while he takes big steps towards the packhouse, rubbing circles with his thumb on the inside of my thigh. Sparks rush through me, making my insides mushy and my initial deviance completely forgotten. The warning dad and Ximena gave me a long lost shadow in my mind. My hands are acting on their own accord, tracing every line of the muscles on his back and when I reach the scars on his ribs a shudder rakes through his spine. “What are you doing?” He asks, his voice low and somehow vulnerable. “Some exploration.” I breath, a smirk creeping up on my face. Finally focusing on the bond I feel his emotions, longing, frustration, hurt and something a bit darker, something I can’t decipher. I’m amazed with the complex man that’s carrying me towards the packhouse, amazed by what I ignite in him, in what he ignites in me. I block out the darkness lingering in him and focus on the longing. Pull on it as I trace my fingers
TRIGGER WARNING: This chapter is rough, it contains sexual violence and if you don’t have the stomach for it I suggest you skip it for your own sanity. SANTIAGO Diego thrashing against the restraints I have on him when Alexis, Adriana’s wolf, is begging him over, wanting him near. The woman belonging to that wolf is kissing me fiercely, her lips molding against mine, tongue swirling and a hand pulls on my hair. She positions herself in such a way she flips us over easily, straddling me, looking down on me. Her eyes are blazing at me, the glow from them making it very evident Alexis is on the drivers seat with her. In the cogs of my mind a idea slips through, it’s mean, it's hurtful and heartless but it will work and it will work fast. I hand the reins to Diego and he seems surprised I give into him that easy. All I can do is smirk at my wolf. “Go ahead, but when I say stop you will obey me.” I growl at him and he dives into he
SANTIAGO I look over the group of warriors gathered before me andPoté. They are a hard bunch, roughened up by wars and battles, but right now they don´t feel like it. We have lost three good warriors this weekend to that freak attack of the rogues and my troops are a bit down and restless. From the corner of myeyeI see Jane has started her training with the small group of women that are good fighters, but not yet good enough to make the warrior squad. Adriana is also
ADRIANA I don’t really know what came over me this morning, I mean, I normally don’t relax around Santiago, I don’t let loose. But he has been different the entire evening and this morning, well he did keep his word, he didn’t hurt me. If anything, he gave me a hell of a lot of pleasure. I don’t know, I just have this feeling he is willing to change, willing to adjust his outlook on the world. I just pray to the goddesses my intuition is right about it. He has been gentle and sweet all

ADRIANAThe rest of the day goes by without any incidents. Santiago has been avoiding me as I have been avoiding him the entire day, I dodged the council members by saying I wasn’t feeling to well and needed some down time with my own family and my family and friends have been there for me the entire day.It was like back home again. Sabine and dad made sure everyone had enough food in their belly the entire day, I played fantastical games with Rover, Jenna and Ximena when she joined in. Rui and his mom Marianna came over for lunch. He and Rover really got along, they painted their nails together and Rui showed him some wrestling grips in the backyard. “Because real tough guys can do both!” Rover exclaimed when dad asked him about it.The entire day had me feel so loved, so happy and carefree. Like life wasn’t full of tests and hardships and difficult choices in the future, like I was just a twenty year old enjoying her summer in Spain wi
ADRIANA The sound of a wolf howling rings in my ears, or, not in my ears but in my head. “Wake up! Wake up you stupid!” Alexis paces through my head and another wolf howls again, it’s loud and whining. “Urgh, just let me sleep. Get him to shut up.” I groan. Him.. Oh fuck! It’s Diego and he sounds pissed as fuck. My eyes flutter open, the room I’m in swirls around me and I have a tough time getting a sharp vision. My head feels like exploding and my body feels heavy and weak. The room is a mix of all types of scents and soft murmurs. The warmth and the scent around me is more than just familiar, sweet cardamom, black pepper and cedar wood, Goddess it’s so good. “Mate.” I mutter, still dizzy and a bit sleep drunk. Until my foggy brain catches up with everything that’s happening. I’m no longer in Olympus, I am back in the conference room and staring down on me is an incredibly angry Alpha. “What are you doing here? Why am I on top of this table?” My gaze
ADRIANAI blink a few times, processing what she just said. “I can’t kill my mate, he’ll murder me before I have the chance.” My eyes dart between the three women, panic taking root in my gut. Selene squeezes my hand and a sense of calm comes over me. “You are a daughter of Hecate, Alexis is my daughter and Ingvar is one of the most powerful vampires that ever have walked the earth. I think you could do much more than just kill him if you want to. Besides, it not like you’ve marked him.” Selene shrugs her shoulders nonchalantly when she says the last part.“I know, but still, I’m no murderer. I never killed anything, except for the occasional bunny when I let Alexis out on a run. And, aren’t all wolves your children?” I look at her quizzingly. A look crosses the three women their faces, like they find me cute and innocent.“Do you really think that, because I think you were ready to kill to
ADRIANA “I think I might have overdone it.” I stumble over my words and grab the coatrack beside the front door. The actions are too much and the world around me spins. Right before I fall down and everything turns dark, an arm wraps itself around me. “No shit Sherlock.” Is the last thing I hear before I pummel into the darkness. Falling down the darkness morphs, stars and rays of color fill the space I fall through, until I have a sense of getting carried instead of falling. The rays of color slow down around me and I drop to a golden marble floor, hard. For a few seconds I just lay on the floor, sucking in much needed air and marveling over the space I am in. The walls around me are high and plastered with intricate, woven design of golden pipes. The ceiling is translucent, it shimmers and moves somehow. It’s beauty is exquisite. My gaze falls on the tall redhead in the center of the room. He’s dressed in jeans and a green button down, sleeves rolled up. “T
SANTIAGOThe stench of rogues inching closer and closer to our border is nauseating, their putrid scent overruling everything. I can’t even smell the blossoming flowers in the bed next to me and my warriors. The audacity to come even as close as they are coming now is surprising, as is the control in how they move. They move like a solid unit instead of the chaotic and wild runs they normally do, it’s concerning to say the least. It has me and everyone around me on high alert.Brjent, Farkas and Emerson all stand beside me, all our eyes are trained on the edge of the forest. Sophia, Lilly and Johanna are working with the warriors in the village, on their way to protect vulnerable buildings like the packhouse and the hospital. I know I don’t need to worry about them, they are more than capable in handling themselves. The rogues remain in the shadow of the forest though, like they are waiting for someone, waiting for an okay.A mome
XIMENA Adriana and I rush everybody inside the packhouse, she carefully handles the scared children and makes them feel comfortable when they enter the grand hallway. I like the change I am seeing in her, it’s like she freed herself of the shadow my brother had cast on her the last week. She was a hollow shell, a ghost of the girl she was before, but now, finally, I am seeing more and more of the woman I have seen during the Games. She closes the door and I push some buttons on the panel next to the door, activating a lockdown on the building. She meets my eyes, a shocked expression in them. “Did you see that? The way they moved through the street?” Her voice comes out more steadily than I expected, though her face gives away how she feels inside. She’s scared. “Yeah, I saw it. Where ever they’re from, they received extensive training. We should get everybody inside the conference room, it’s the most central and big enough to fit everyone.” I
