ADRIANA
We have a relaxed flight and three hours later we land in Malaga, Spain. We pick up our luggage and make our way to the exit. The air is warm and dry, it is almost noon and already thirty degrees. I snatch a bowl of paella for me and Jenna from one of the food trucks alongside the airport. Alexis, my wolf, is happy to be out of the plane and have some food in her belly. She is excited about seeing the new surroundings and the new faces at the games.
“So where is this gathering point supposed to be?” Ben quizzes and as if it were meant to be, as we walk around the corner, we find a bus with some other young weres hanging in front of it. I hear different languages at the same time and know that is where we are supposed to meet. “There it is, come on guys!” I say, pointing towards the bus. We walk over there and are greeted by an older woman. She is well is her fifties, has a soft face and a curvy body.
“Hola, I am Margareta, your bus-driver. When everyone has put their luggage in the bus we can head of to the games.” She says while opening a side-panel of the bus to reveal a big space for all our luggage. Once everyone has loaded everything in the bus, she directs us into the bus.
“Alright, if everyone wants to pay attention. I have some things to say before we arrive and I do not want to repeat myself.” She says with a strict voice and everyone goes quiet. “Now. We have cabins for every pack that participates and we expect you to keep things decent. We are not hosting a giant orgy, so have some decency. All meals are provided by the pack and will take up an hour, breakfast starts at 7 AM, lunch at 1 PM and dinner starts at 7 PM. Tonight however you are expected thirty minutes earlier for the welcoming speech.” She finishes and Jenna whispers under her breath; “She is not messing around, I am curious about the Alpha though. It sounds like he runs a tight ship.” “I know right.” I say softly.Half an hour and many bumps in the road later, I can see the pack grounds coming in sight. The place is situated against a mountainside, tiny white house’s make up the village and on top of the mountain I can see a huge hacienda style building. Probably the pack-house. The lower half of the mountain is covered by small bushes and I can spot some outdoor training grounds. The rest is a mystery, hidden from all the nosy weres by a huge black screen. “I bet that’s where the games are going to take place.” Alexis points out. “Yeah, probably.”
“We are entering the pack grounds when we cross the stream coming up. You are not allowed outside the pack-border, because we cannot guarantee your safety outside.” Margareta calls out and the next moment we take a turn to a bridge. I feel Alexis becoming anxious for some reason and when we cross the stream I exactly know why.
I feel a rush of power course through me, it feels like my heart explodes with electricity and sparks. My smell, hearing and sight somehow improves and I can see, smell and hear everything. I am hit with another wave of it and I feel Alexis growing more powerful, like she is awakened. She roars in my head and prances around, her fur dancing with every step she takes. Her eyes are such a bright emerald color it looks like they are glowing. The feeling dies down and my insides settle to their normal calm motion.
“Adriana.” I hear Jenna slightly panicked voice through the mind link. “What happened? You went all tense and I could feel the electricity coming of you!” I look at her and see the shock on her face. “You, Your eyes. They changed, what is happening to you?” “I don’t know, but I feel much more powerful.” I pull out my phone to take a look at my eyes and I am shocked at the sight. My normally amber eyes are now decorated with an emerald ring around the iris, they are beautiful.
“I am allowed to share my full power now with you. The goddess granted me by your side because you are destined for great things. I am the most powerful wolf ever to walk this earth. You will need all my strength and wisdom for everything what’s to come. This place right here is a first step in discovering who you truly are.” Alexis tells me and with that she pulls back to the edges of my mind. I am shocked!
I tell Jenna what just happened and she is just as much in shock as I am. She grabs my hand and squeezes it gently. “You need to keep this for yourself, this is massive! I don’t know how this pack responds when they find our you are more powerful than their own Alpha. Promise me to be careful.” Jenna whispers through the mind link. “I will, don’t worry about it.” I try reassuring her and myself.
We drive through the village, I see kids running around the playground we pass. Teenagers and adults helping everyone to get to their assigned cabins and showing people around town. This place is buzzing with energy and excitement.
Margareta pulls up in front of the pack-house, she guides us into the place and the inside is a complete opposite of the outdoor. Where the outdoor has all the characteristics of an old, idyllic hacienda, the indoor is modern/chic. The walls are a dark green and the floor is made of grey washed floorboards, the doors are made of dark mahogany and have golden placards on them, telling everyone exactly what they can find behind it.
She guides us through the hallway and into an office. The color scheme from the hallway continues but the room feels much lighter. In the middle stands a desk with a glass tabletop and golden legs, behind the desk there are two big windows with white curtains. In the far corner stands a big bookcase made of glass and gold, accompanied by a velvet green sofa with soft golden cushions and a white furry rug.
A young woman stands in the middle of the office, she is busy rummaging through some papers and when we come in, she looks up. She looks like an exact copy of Michelle Rodriguez. Jenna and I are stunned, especially when she introduces herself. “Hey guys, I’m Michelle and I will be handing you all the information that you will be needing the coming days.” I am baffled, she even sounds like her. Realizing I must be staring at her I quickly drop my gaze. Laura takes the initiative, being the Alpha’s daughter, it comes natural to her. “Hi Michelle, we are from the Lowland Pack. It is just the four of us.” She says and Michelle pulls out a big envelope. “This holds all the information about your cabin, when the games will start and where to be. It holds information about what we expect of you and some stuff about our meals. The games we have planned for you are still a surprise and you won’t get to know them before they actually start, so no snooping.” Michelle winks and hands the envelope to Laura. “Thank you very much.” “Rui is already waiting for you to show you your cabin. You can find him at the main entrance.” We bow our head slightly as a sign we are leaving and with that we walk out to find this Rui.
“Hola senoritas y senor! I am Rui, let me check which cabin is yours.” A young boy, barely fifteen, greets us. He is tanned, has chopped short pink hair, tattoos and a wide smile plastered on his face. His happy demeanor is contagious to us and I can’t help but smile as I see him snatch the envelope out of Laura’s hands. “Ah! You guys have cabin 28, follow me!” He calls out happily and claps his hands. He hands the envelope back to Laura and leads us down the mountain.
Our cabin is easy to find, the cabin sight is set up in lanes of ten. The bottom going 1 to 10, the second 11 to 20 etcetera. Rui says his goodbye and rushes to the packhouse again.
The cabin has nice and simple interior, it has a small living room, a bathroom and four bedrooms. White walls, wooden floor and beige furniture with green and gold touches make up the interior design.
Jenna and I decide to take a quick shower before heading to get lunch. I chuck on a simple t-shirt and shorts and put on some mascara. When I get downstairs Jenna is already waiting for me. She wears her bright yellow t-shirt dress, her long legs stealing the show. “You are going to hurt people’s eyes with that.” I grin at her as we walk out towards town square. “Yeah, but I look amazing while doing so.” She says with a wicked smile on her face. I hook my arm around hers and we walk into the sunlight. We walk over to the town-square, it’s filled with long tables and benches to accommodate everyone who wants to enjoy lunch. Closest to the pack-house I spot tables filled with huge bowls with food. When we get closer, I can see every bowl had a small sign that tells you what’s in it, I love it!
Jenna grabs us two plates and we start piling a bit of everything on it. The mountain of food we can put on our plate is impressive.
“So, where do you want to sit, I can’t spot Laura or Ben anywhere.” Jenna asks. “I don’t mind, you pick a place.” I coo looking over the tables. All of them are already occupied with weres, but not all are occupied to the range that we won’t fit anymore.
Jenna walks up to a small group, the two guys are fully invested in their conversation and the girl just sits there, slowly eating her food. “Hi there, can we sit with you?” Jenna asks pointing at the empty place on the bench. The girl nods, she pulls out her phone and shows us a message. “I can’t speak, but I can understand English and type fast.” “Cool! I am Adriana and this is Jenna, we are from the Lowland Pack. How about you?” She starts typing again, but one of the guys catches her. He places his hand on her arm and nudges her gently. “I will mind link with my sister and tell you everything she wants to say. It’s much easier that way. I am Sergei, this is Anatoli and this is Irina, my sister. We are from the Bolshoy Iremel Pack.” The guy next to her tells us in a thick Russian accent. They do look a lot alike, they have the same sandy blond hair, same grey eyes and the same round facial structure. Anatoli has black hair, pale skin and a rough appearance, typical bad boy vibes. From the corner of my eye, I see Jenna biting her bottom lip, it’s obvious why she wanted to sit here. “If I don’t find my Mate and he doesn’t find his either, I am definitely going to fuck him senseless.” Her husky voice filling my head through the mind link. I laugh at her. “As long as I don’t hear your moaning and screaming that’s fine by me.”
ADRIANAI spend the rest of the afternoon with Jenna, Irina, Sergei and Anatoli, we stroll a bit through town and tell each other stories about home and life there. Sergei is a carpenter in their pack and Irina helps at the day-care, she truly is a kind-hearted girl. Jenna and Anatoli are pretty invested in themselves, I know my friend well enough to just let her do her thing. She likes to flirt and play a bit with whoever her victim is, woman or man there is no discrimination between those two genders. She is all for equal opportunities.A few minutes before half past five we get back at the square. The tables and benches are still in place, where the big tables used to stand there is now wooden stage set up. It’s decorated with white, green and golden ribbons and in the middle stands a microphone.I look around and see different food-stations lining up on the right side of the square, mouthwatering scents come drifting my way. Goddess I am hungry.
ADRIANAI hear a loud growl behind me and I quickly slide back in my place as I see it is the woman from stage. Us werewolves are always so possessive as it comes to our mates, with Alpha’s it’s even worse. I see her eyes flicker from their natural brown color to the gold of her wolf. I bow my head out of respect, not to upset her and her wolf. As soon as they lock eyes you can see the Mate-bond falling into place.I pull myself up and wink at the others to leave them alone for the evening and give them some privacy. My stomach growls vigorously and I head over to the food stations. I spot a station with different types of salads and tortillas. Everything looks so tasty, I almost start drooling. Anatoli walked with me to the stand and picks two different beef tortillas and waits for me to decide what I want to eat. I choose a chicken tortilla and a colorful looking salad. “Good choice, that looks damn tasty.” He speaks. “Where do you want
ADRIANAI wake up to my alarm, the thing blares it’s tune through my room and I hear Ben curse in the room next to me. Seems I woke him up too. I quickly turn it off and hop out of bed. Chucking on a shirt and shorts I yell “Bathroom is taken now!” and I storm out of my room, into the bathroom and lock the door behind me. I hear Ben groan loudly. “You better be quick. I have to fucking pee.” He grunts and I turn on the shower. I pee while the water heats up and with a soft moan I step under the water. I always love the feel of the water running down my face and body, it relaxes my stiff muscles and always refreshes me in a way that borderlines to sensual. I try not to wet my hair too much and wash myself quickly. I turn off the water and dry myself. I chuck on my clothes and smear some toothpaste on my toothbrush.“Bathrooms free!” I yell while brushing my teeth. Ben comes rushing past me and I chuckle as I hear his pleasurable
ADRIANANot long after Ximena takes to the stages again, asking everyone to be quiet. “Remember, all lost artefacts must be returned to these chests and no shifting! We will begin in five… four… three… two… one… GO!!!”Our team runs up the mountain and as soon we are surrounded by bushes, I call for the others. “Guys, wait we need to have a gameplan and work strategic here. Megara has the paper with all our artefacts on it. Who is really good at tracking?” I ask and James raises his hand. “I am, I come from a family of trackers.” He speaks. “Perfect, we will both do the tracking.” I tell him and he nods. “Now if we all hold on to one artefact the chances of it being stolen are a lot slimmer. The other two will act as security. I do not want to lose any of the artefacts, so better safe than sorry.” I say. Alexei and Joao offer to act as our security. Since they are the two lar
ADRIANAI feel much more relaxed after Alexei’s statement, especially when Joao and Antoinette back it up, also offering their help. I learn they all have high ranking parents in their pack, Alexei is an Alpha’s son just as Alexis told me. Joao is already a Beta at his pack in Portugal and Antoinette is the daughter of pack commanders. Ditte, Megara and James are all from normal upbringing, just like me. That’s also the reason they were affected by the authority that oozed of me and Alexei, Joao and Antoinette not. “They will be once you learn to use our power properly.” Alexis chirps excited and I roll my eyes to my wolf. “Weirdo.” I grin at her and focus my attention back on my team.“Okay, now let’s find that new trail and get off this open field.” Alexei takes the lead and I let him. James and I start walking in circles around the pond and the others keep an eye on our surroundings.Minutes later Ja
ADRIANAWe head on, tracking the scent further into the forest on the mountain. I sense other teams are close by and we move quietly through the forest. The vanilla scent is now mixed with the scents of the wolves who have already been here and it is getting harder to track down the trail.I am leading my team further north and ask James to come up with me. “I can’t risk showing the other teams my eyes. You have to help me, keep an extra eye at whatever direction I tell you too.” I whisper to him and I can feel Alexis getting more and more antsy. She is pacing through my head yelling at me we need to go and to trust James with our mind link. “Can I trust you? Really trust you?” I whisper, so soft the others can’t hear and I search his eyes as he nods. Nothing but pure sincerity shining in them.I think about a link between me and him, see it forming in my mind and with a snap the teether is set in place. “I can mind link
ADRIANAI feel like returning back to earth again, my surroundings and senses coming back to me. Alexis whimpers, beat down by the sheer force of Alexei’s command and the loss of connection she endured with me.“Adriana, what the fuck? What happened!?” Alexei screams in my face, keeping a tight grip on my hands. “What, I… I don’t really know. I was fine one minute and then I smelled something, I just lost it.” I stammer, not really knowing what to make of what just happened.Alexei relaxes a bit, seems I look like myself again. “Okay, deep breaths. What happened? Begin at the beginning.” He says while pulling me up to my feet and guiding me back to the others. I tell him everything and he doesn’t really respond, just hums and nods at the right time. Like he is deep in thought. When we are almost at the statue he grabs my arm, stopping me in my tracks. “What do you know about your parents?&
XIMENA“Luna de la Trinidad.” I mumble softly as I see her eyes, they look like glowing marbles with swirls of amber and emerald in them and the power I feel from her wolf is something else entirely.“Nah, that can’t be.” I think to myself. That was just a bedtime story mom and dad used to tell us back in Costa Rica. Though this young woman, she feels powerful. Not like me, different, more ancient. “We have to find out more.” Xesara says. She’s more in awe with her wolf than anything else. “I know.” I tell her and focus on Adriana again.“I’m sorry, Luna la what?” She asks inquisitively. “No it’s nothing. Go celebrate with your team.” I say as I usher her away. She stares at me, searching me for something of an explanation. When she realizes she won’t get any she turns around and reunites with her team that is exhilarated with their win.I turn and walk u
SANTIAGO I look over the group of warriors gathered before me andPoté. They are a hard bunch, roughened up by wars and battles, but right now they don´t feel like it. We have lost three good warriors this weekend to that freak attack of the rogues and my troops are a bit down and restless. From the corner of myeyeI see Jane has started her training with the small group of women that are good fighters, but not yet good enough to make the warrior squad. Adriana is also
ADRIANA I don’t really know what came over me this morning, I mean, I normally don’t relax around Santiago, I don’t let loose. But he has been different the entire evening and this morning, well he did keep his word, he didn’t hurt me. If anything, he gave me a hell of a lot of pleasure. I don’t know, I just have this feeling he is willing to change, willing to adjust his outlook on the world. I just pray to the goddesses my intuition is right about it. He has been gentle and sweet all

ADRIANAThe rest of the day goes by without any incidents. Santiago has been avoiding me as I have been avoiding him the entire day, I dodged the council members by saying I wasn’t feeling to well and needed some down time with my own family and my family and friends have been there for me the entire day.It was like back home again. Sabine and dad made sure everyone had enough food in their belly the entire day, I played fantastical games with Rover, Jenna and Ximena when she joined in. Rui and his mom Marianna came over for lunch. He and Rover really got along, they painted their nails together and Rui showed him some wrestling grips in the backyard. “Because real tough guys can do both!” Rover exclaimed when dad asked him about it.The entire day had me feel so loved, so happy and carefree. Like life wasn’t full of tests and hardships and difficult choices in the future, like I was just a twenty year old enjoying her summer in Spain wi
ADRIANA The sound of a wolf howling rings in my ears, or, not in my ears but in my head. “Wake up! Wake up you stupid!” Alexis paces through my head and another wolf howls again, it’s loud and whining. “Urgh, just let me sleep. Get him to shut up.” I groan. Him.. Oh fuck! It’s Diego and he sounds pissed as fuck. My eyes flutter open, the room I’m in swirls around me and I have a tough time getting a sharp vision. My head feels like exploding and my body feels heavy and weak. The room is a mix of all types of scents and soft murmurs. The warmth and the scent around me is more than just familiar, sweet cardamom, black pepper and cedar wood, Goddess it’s so good. “Mate.” I mutter, still dizzy and a bit sleep drunk. Until my foggy brain catches up with everything that’s happening. I’m no longer in Olympus, I am back in the conference room and staring down on me is an incredibly angry Alpha. “What are you doing here? Why am I on top of this table?” My gaze
ADRIANAI blink a few times, processing what she just said. “I can’t kill my mate, he’ll murder me before I have the chance.” My eyes dart between the three women, panic taking root in my gut. Selene squeezes my hand and a sense of calm comes over me. “You are a daughter of Hecate, Alexis is my daughter and Ingvar is one of the most powerful vampires that ever have walked the earth. I think you could do much more than just kill him if you want to. Besides, it not like you’ve marked him.” Selene shrugs her shoulders nonchalantly when she says the last part.“I know, but still, I’m no murderer. I never killed anything, except for the occasional bunny when I let Alexis out on a run. And, aren’t all wolves your children?” I look at her quizzingly. A look crosses the three women their faces, like they find me cute and innocent.“Do you really think that, because I think you were ready to kill to
ADRIANA “I think I might have overdone it.” I stumble over my words and grab the coatrack beside the front door. The actions are too much and the world around me spins. Right before I fall down and everything turns dark, an arm wraps itself around me. “No shit Sherlock.” Is the last thing I hear before I pummel into the darkness. Falling down the darkness morphs, stars and rays of color fill the space I fall through, until I have a sense of getting carried instead of falling. The rays of color slow down around me and I drop to a golden marble floor, hard. For a few seconds I just lay on the floor, sucking in much needed air and marveling over the space I am in. The walls around me are high and plastered with intricate, woven design of golden pipes. The ceiling is translucent, it shimmers and moves somehow. It’s beauty is exquisite. My gaze falls on the tall redhead in the center of the room. He’s dressed in jeans and a green button down, sleeves rolled up. “T
SANTIAGOThe stench of rogues inching closer and closer to our border is nauseating, their putrid scent overruling everything. I can’t even smell the blossoming flowers in the bed next to me and my warriors. The audacity to come even as close as they are coming now is surprising, as is the control in how they move. They move like a solid unit instead of the chaotic and wild runs they normally do, it’s concerning to say the least. It has me and everyone around me on high alert.Brjent, Farkas and Emerson all stand beside me, all our eyes are trained on the edge of the forest. Sophia, Lilly and Johanna are working with the warriors in the village, on their way to protect vulnerable buildings like the packhouse and the hospital. I know I don’t need to worry about them, they are more than capable in handling themselves. The rogues remain in the shadow of the forest though, like they are waiting for someone, waiting for an okay.A mome
XIMENA Adriana and I rush everybody inside the packhouse, she carefully handles the scared children and makes them feel comfortable when they enter the grand hallway. I like the change I am seeing in her, it’s like she freed herself of the shadow my brother had cast on her the last week. She was a hollow shell, a ghost of the girl she was before, but now, finally, I am seeing more and more of the woman I have seen during the Games. She closes the door and I push some buttons on the panel next to the door, activating a lockdown on the building. She meets my eyes, a shocked expression in them. “Did you see that? The way they moved through the street?” Her voice comes out more steadily than I expected, though her face gives away how she feels inside. She’s scared. “Yeah, I saw it. Where ever they’re from, they received extensive training. We should get everybody inside the conference room, it’s the most central and big enough to fit everyone.” I
