"She's going to be fine. But, at the moment, she can't speak due to her neck injury" Dr Matt informed Dominic and his wife. Chloe was wide awake and Adelynn was sitting by her bedside, gently stroking her sister's hair.
"She will be able to speak soon, right?" Adelynn asked and the doctor nodded."For now, she needs to be monitored closely. Also, she needs plenty of rest"Dominic nodded, his gaze meeting Chloe's glassy eyed gaze. "I'll take my leave now" Dr Matt said and exchanged a handshake with Dominic. After he'd left, Adelynn spoke to Chloe. "Who was the bastard who hurt you so badly? Do you remember who it was? Was it someone you know?"
"You know she can't talk yet. Give her a break. She can tell us everything later" Dominic said and she sighed."I'm just so upset about the fact that whoever did this Chloe is still out there" Adelynn said and Dominic sighed. If only she knew that JenMorning had finally come and the bright rays of the morning sun reflected in the large bedroom of Dominic and his wife. The couple lay on the king sized bed, an air of serenity resting on them. Adelynn awoke first, her sleepy gaze resting on her husband's handsome face. She slowly lowered her gaze, a small smile curving her lips at the remembrance of the series of events that had happened the previous night. Things had gotten really steamy and at this point, Adelynn felt completely sated. She reached out to touch her husband's face, not hesitating this time. Her fingers slowly sank into his hair, caressing the silky strands. Dominic opened his eyes, a charming smile on his lips."Morning" he rasped."Morning" "Last night really wasn't a dream, was it?" He whispered and she snorted."Do you want me to pinch you first?" She asked and he laughed. "That won't be necessary" he responded, pressing soft kisses to the curve of her neck.
Dominic awoke slowly in his office, a feeling of foreboding resting heavily on him. He couldn't place his finger on it, but he knew that something was terribly wrong. He rose to his feet, brushing his hair away from his face. But, just as he picked up his car keys, a wave of dizziness slammed into him. White hot pain attacked his stomach and he doubled over. With a groan, he sat down on his seat. Sweat slid down the sides of his face, panic quickly setting in. He let out another groan when he began to feel terribly nauseous, his limbs trembling hard. He reached out to pick up his phone to call for help but, the blinding pain that hit him next stopped him in his tracks. He fell to the ground, gasping for breath as a result of his discomfort. His temperature had soared considerably and he was tottering on the edge of consciousness. "No, no. God, no" he gasped as he vomited a dark red substance. Clutching at his aching stomach, he tried to
Flashback "Why do you look so anxious?" Allen asked his bestfriend as she sat by his bedside in the hospital, holding his free hand. "I'm just really worried" she breathed, her eyes reflecting the worry and anxiousness she was feeling. Allen sighed, his eyes fluttering close briefly."I'll be fine""Allen you passed out, don't you remember that? You practically scared the life out of me!" She said and he grimaced."I'm sorry""You're sorry? What if it's--""I know what you're thinking, Linnie. I was just very exhausted. It's why I passed out""But-""Please, Linnie. You don't have to worry about me. I'm fine"Adelynn didn't need a soothsayer to tell her that he was lying because she knew the truth. She could see the dark circles under his eyes, the sheer exhaustion in his blue eyes, the bruises on his skin that h
"Spit it out already. Why are you hesitating?" Adelynn said, coldly. Chloe sighed, a worried look in her eyes. Adelynn clenched her fist, tensed."It can't be that bad, right?" She asked. Her expression faltered when they didn't give her a response. "Right?" She breathed shakily."Adelynn, I think you should sit down for this" Dominic said and she froze."W-what?""Allen didn't die because he was sick" Dominic said and Adelynn parted her lips, confused."If he didn't-"Chloe cut her off."Jensen killed him by suffocating him to death on the hospital bed. Then, he made sure that this secret was not exposed. He only told me because he believed that I was going to die" Tears rolled down Adelynn's cheeks in floods as she crumbled to the ground, letting out pained sobs. Chloe moved to her side and embraced her while she cried. "He's really obsessed with me?" Adelynn breathed. "Enough t
"I want you to move in with me" Jensen said, a small smile curving his lips. Adelynn smiled, trying not to show how much his statement had thrown her off balance. "Jensen, I don't think that's a good idea" she stated and he frowned."Why not?""I'm still married to Dominic" Adelynn pointed out and Jensen's eyes hardened. "Adelynn, I need to know that you truly want me. Moving in with me shouldn't be a big deal" he said and a lump lodged itself in Adelynn's throat. "Jensen, you have to understand that I can't do what you're asking of me, yet. But, we're certainly going to be together" she said and his gaze softened. He gently gave her hand a little squeeze. While they both walked out of the restaurant, Jensen suddenly pulled her into his arms and pressed a kiss to her lips. Adelynn forced out a smile, hoping that he wouldn't notice how hard she was trying to make things look real. He walked her to her car and watched her as she got in.
"I'm fine, Dominic. What's with the murderous look in your eyes?" Dominic's mother said to her son, a worried look in her eyes. "Mum, do you understand that you were nearly killed?" Dominic asked and she sighed."Of course, I know that. Do you by any chance, know who would've done this?" She asked and he began to pace back and forth, pensively. "I'm going to kill him" Dominic muttered."Dominic, you promised me that you wouldn't get your hands stained with someone else's blood" "What do you suggest I do now?" He asked and stormed out of the ward where his mother was admitted. Standing in front of the door were four armed bodyguards. "Is she okay?" Adelynn asked as he walked up to her. "She's fine"He took out his phone and started to head towards the entrance of the hospital building as he made a call."Boss""Where are you? We need to talk" Dominic said."Whenever you're ready, boss""Go
"I heard that you're married now. You seem to have changed a lot. But, since you're here to see me, I don't think you have changed so much" Blake, Dominic's companion said as he took a drag of his cigarette. Dominic shrugged."Desperate times call for desperate measures. I want you to look into someone for me"Blake stroked his beard, lazily. "Who has been getting on your nerves?" He asked."His name is Jensen Jefferson""Right. I have heard about the bastard. He has crossed paths with me a few times. The brat thinks he can do anything he wants. What are you planning to do?"A smirk curved Dominic's lips. "I plan to ruin him".... Jensen was awoken by the ringing sounds coming from his smartphones. Annoyed, he grabbed one of them and picked the call."Hello?" He rasped, rubbing his left eye tiredly."Are you in your right mind at all?"Jensen stiffened at the sound of his fat
"What are you doing here?" Jensen asked, his gaze boring holes into Tallie who was literally struggling with her emotions. This was the first time she was seeing him in months. She was feeling both immense relief and happiness. She couldn't be bothered by the coldness of his expression. "Babe, where have you been?" She asked and Adelynn's eyes went wide. Jensen's eyes went even colder and the frigid tension in the air tripled. "You are her husband?" Adelynn asked, her eyes narrowed."Adelynn-""Don't Adelynn me" she snapped. Then, she burst into a humourless laughter."You were fucking married. Yet, you chose to do everything you could to rip my marriage with Dominic apart. How could I have been so stupid? I should have never trusted you in the first place" she spat, her blood fired up with anger. "You're getting it all wrong. This is just a misunderstanding" Jensen
"It's amazing" Adelynn said, a smile on her face. Dominic embraced her from behind. "I know, right? I'm so glad it's all over" he said as he watched their son, Kyle, and Austin's daughter play with a bunch of building blocks. "You know, marrying you has proved to be one of the best choices I've ever made" Adelynn stated and her husband grinned. "How do you feel?" He asked. She turned to give him a kiss on the cheek. "I feel--- I feel happier than ever and it's all because I'm married to the love of my life" Adelynn told him. "I feel the same way too, Adelynn. I wouldn't trade you for anyone else, love" he whispered in her ear. Austin and his wife, Rielle, stood few metres away, watching the couple with big smiles on their faces. "They look so happy" Rielle breathed. "They deserve it" Austin grinned. ... DOMINIC Knowing Adelynn changed me. I was a lonely teen with a horrible chi
"I'm going to send you an address and you'll have to meet me there. But, you will have to come alone. Trust me, you won't like what would happen to your husband if you either failed to show up or failed to come alone""O-kay. Send me the address" Adelynn responded, fear sinking into her heart. The line went dead and Jensen grinned at Dominic."She will be here soon and I'm going to make her mine. You won't be able to do a damn thing about it" Jensen said and blew a whistle. Six men walked in and approached Dominic. While Jensen left the basement, they began to beat up Dominic, viciously..... "No, Adelynn. I can't let you do that. If you go to him, you will be walking right into a trap. Dominic trusted me to keep you safe and that's what I plan on doing" Giovanni said to a frustrated Adelynn. "I can't just sit back and do nothing! My husband is probably in pain right now and the more we wait, the more the s
"What was Jensen like when you two were still dating?" Thea asked. She was reclining by the pool with Adelynn. "Jensen was very nice, understanding and loving at first. But as our relationship grew, he couldn't stay away from me. I thought it was because he loved me so much. He also started to make sure that I was nowhere around any guy, including my best friend who he actually killed"Thea's gaze softened."I'm so sorry""I guess I was blinded by my so called 'love'. I didn't disapprove whatever Jensen said was right. He was controlling my life and I continued to ignore it. It was so easy for him to turn me against Dominic. He made me label my husband as the villain" Adelynn said and Thea sighed."Well, I'm glad that you were finally able to turn away from your toxic relationship with Jensen"Adelynn smiled sadly."I treated Dominic wrongly, but he refused to be swayed. He ref
"Hey" Adelynn said to Dominic who had just opened his eyes. She took his free hand in hers and pressed a kiss to the back of his palm. "How are you feeling?" She asked."Numb" he rasped."Austin told me what happened" She told him and he exhaled slowly, his eyes briefly fluttering close."I didn't want you to worry""You could've gotten badly hurt, Dom" Adelynn pointed out. "I was well aware of the fact that things could suddenly go south. But, Rielle's life and that of her unborn child was at stake" Dominic stated.Adelynn let out a sigh. "I know. I just--" she drew in a shaky breath, her eyes misting over."Hey, look at me. I'm right here" her husband assured her, giving her hand a little squeeze. "Everything happened so fast, Dominic. I've never been so scared"After a brief pause, Adelynn lowered her gaze."There's something you need to know" she said to him and his gaze l
Heart pounding, Adelynn placed a hand on her stomach, hoping and praying that her unborn child would be okay. Her blood ran cold when she heard a masculine voice from the direction of the stairs. "I know you're hiding there. Come out"She swallowed hard, her limbs trembling. A gunshot went off and she slammed a hand over her mouth to stifle the scream that had already escaped her lips. She could hear the footsteps approaching. She quickly moved away from her spot. "Don't make it harder for yourself, Adelynn. I'm not going to hurt you. No one's coming here for you, you know. Your husband is currently preoccupied--"Adelynn's eyes widened when she saw another figure by the window. She could only see the figure with the help of the moonlight. She was worried now. What if the house was actually surrounded? Another gunshot went off and she flinched, her hand accidentally making contact with one o
Austin stared at his friend with a look of incredulity on his face. He knew Dominic was trying to help him. But, as much as he really wanted to save his own wife and unborn child, he certainly didn't want Dominic to get hurt or worse, killed. Especially not with Adelynn carrying his child. "You can't just go to them. Dominic, we need backup" Austin said and Dominic gave him a blank stare."We can't bring the cops into this situation and I'm pretty sure you know why"Austin's frown deepened. "Listen to me, this is risky business. We don't know how armed Rielle's kidnapper is. What if something goes wrong and you get captured? What if it triggers the memory of your unpleasant experience?"Dominic snorted. "Did you actually think that I was going to put my life on the line to save Rielle? Definitely not. Of course, I have back up" he replied with a cocky smirk."Wow, you're still as cocky as ever" Austin said, looking irritat
Pensive, Dominic Suarez paced the length of his study as his bestfriend's words replayed themselves in his mind. "Jensen is my stepbrother?" He thought aloud, a frown on his face. "My mother was once married to Jensen's dad?" He muttered, the frown on his face vanishing. He let out a sigh and rubbed a palm over his face. "For goodness sake, I'm not dumb. That is so ridiculous" he said and lowered himself onto his chair. He didn't need a soothsayer to tell him that everything Austin had said concerning his parentage was bullshit. He tapped his fingers against the surface of his desk, a thoughtful expression on his face. He knew Austin. He wouldn't say such a thing ordinarily. Had he been blackmailed or something? He thought about the possibility that Austin had tried to deceive him for Rielle's sake. For truth to be told, Dominic wasn't upset. It had taken him a long time to understand w
In the large sitting room of Dominic's home, he was sitting on the couch with Adelynn's head on his lap. He fondly stroked her hair as they watched the TV. "Do you remember the first letter we wrote to each other?" Adelynn asked and he smiled. "Of course, I do" Dominic responded as he thought about how nervous he'd been to write the letter. At first, he'd thought that Adelynn wouldn't get the chance to read the letter because Jensen would always follow her wherever she went. Dominic had managed to sneak the letter into her locker. In the letter, he had written to her, asking her to become penpals with him because he didn't have many friends. He'd asked her to send him messages through the mail if she was interested. Adelynn on the other hand had found him very interesting and she'd agreed to be his pen pal. At first, she'd hesitated because of Jensen. But, she managed to hide it from him for the time being. Thi
A warm smile tugged at Adelynn's lips once her husband returned home. He noticed the presence of his mother, Adelynn's mother, Stella and Chloe. "Okay, what's the occasion?" He asked his wife as she unbuttoned his white shirt. "You'll see" she whispered and he grinned. "Are we seriously doing this, right now?" Dominic asked, smiling at her. "Yes, we are. When you have freshened up, you can join us for dinner" Adelynn said and walked out of the room, leaving Dominic to wonder what was really going on. He took his bath and got dressed in a black T-shirt and grey sweatpants. As he made his way down the stairs, his phone rang. It was a call from one of his business associates. After the call had ended, he went to the dinning room and took his seat beside his wife. He placed a hand on her thigh. "Will you tell me what's really going on now?" He whispered in her ear and she laughed. Dominic's mother laug
