Chapter 23

Olivia's POV

As soon as I managed to get Augustus out of my room, I slipped on the floor and wept. My emotions were everywhere and even though I badly wanted to run away, I knew that it was time for me to grow some spine and do what was right.

The moon was shining brightly, and my eyes darted everywhere on the ceiling since I couldn't sleep. I wished I had not sent Augustus away and asked him to stay, but even I knew that I was a fraud and would not be able to see him reject me, once he found out that I was weak and not the woman he thought me to me.

Finally, exhaustion overtook me and I slept. It was short and not restful, awake before I even knew it. The soft but persistent knocking on my door, refusing to stop. I rubbed my eyes and went to the door, throwing it open after locking it behind Augustus last night.

“Good Morning Your Royal Majesty” Tina greeted me warmly, bowing her head slowly.

“Good morning Tina” I said and turned around, walking into the room so I coul

I began to lose some of the confidence that I had, but even that was not enough to deter me from finishing what I had started. “You are going to do great. Keep your head up and speak like the queen you are” Alexander whispered in my ears as we made our way to where I would sit. “Councilmen, may we all rise to welcome the one that our king has chosen” one of the men announced and the rest of them stood up, except for Augustus. His eyes were fixed on me and I could see the desire burning in his eyes as he looked at me from head to toe, nearly drooling. I made up my mind to tease him about it later if we were still friends by then and if things went well at the meeting. Augustus stood up finally and the men bowed to him as he came to me and led me to my seat. His hands were warm as they held mine, which was cold and sweaty

Chapter 25 Olivia's POV I managed to stay calm until the meeting was done. I thought Augustus would be coming with me after the meeting, but he had something else to do with the councilmen, so I had to go ahead without him. Alexander was also part of the meeting, so I walked out alone by myself, willing myself not to fall in head first as my legs began to wobble at the thought of marrying a man that I didn't know so well and had a lot of mysteries surrounding his presence in my life. “How was it, Your Majesty?” Tina asked, and I noticed that she was standing at the door and had probably waited that way until I was done with my meeting. “It went well. Surprisingly. It's almost like I had been in there or in a quite similar situation before” I said to her, and she looked at me puzzled for one moment before she smiled warmly at me. “I am not surprised, I was sure they would love you, My Queen” she replied. “I was thinking of us going out to see the kingdom since everyone is b

Chapter 26 Augustus's POV “What do you mean by that?” I barked at Bennie, one of the councilmen who sat there looking at me. “No…not like that your royal majesty” he said and bowed. “All we are just saying is that, after leaving the kingdom for so long to find your mate, we were not expecting that you would come back with a woman that we can barely scent the strength of her wolf. I believe it is why Councilman Benjamin asked, Your highness” Elder Leo added. Elder Leo was one of the men that tried to make life difficult for me in the kingdom because he is the only surviving Elder from the reign of my father. He used that as an advantage to challenge me on some issues without any form of decorum and I have been indulging him. “She is the woman I have chosen and that is final” I said, and I could see the displeasure on the faces of the men. “I think that if she will be queen in seven days, we should at least know what kind of wolf she is since she has no scent or have you fi

They had all prepared to meet my bride and judge her while they all sat on the terrible things they have been doing for five years” I said to Alexander, a satisfied look on my face. I knew this would put them on their toes, and they won't have time to investigate what I knew was currently an insecurity for Olivia. Only if she knew how strong and powerful she was. Telling her what I knew now would mean I have to start talking to her about everything else which meant that she would hate me. “What are you thinking about?” Alexander asked me, this was why he was my beta. He understood me before I use my words, and he could read my face better than anyone else. “I need to find Olivia and speak to her about the wedding” I said to him. “Oh, about that. Chapter 28 Olivia's POV “You are truly a beauty to behold” one of the pack members said to me as soon as I finished singing. The crowd had erupted in elation, but then the noise had quickly died now and when I looked up, I saw exactly why it had. Augustus. Behind him, Alexander trotted obediently, his demeanor one that would intimidate even death itself. The people bowed to him and for a brief moment, I didn't know what to do. It was the first time that his people would be seeing us together, and I could not remember anything from what Alexander taught me about handling issues like this one I had found myself in. “My Queen” he said, a smile spreading on his face as he gathered me to his chest and hugged me. My cheeks reddened in embarrassment and I gripped his shirt to hide my face in, smearing his crispy white shirt with my lipstick. “I stained your shirt” I whispered to him, not wanting him to find out on his own and get upset about it. “It doesn't matter. Chapter 29 Olivia's POV The drive was long and silent, with me falling asleep at some point from both exhaustion and boredom. He didn't say much to me, almost like he wasn't the same man who had spoken about me like I was the best thing in the world. I felt hurt and wondered what he was going to do with me, where we were going to. “What's on your mind?” I heard his voice cut sharply into my thoughts, I looked around the car to confirm that it was indeed me he was speaking with and not someone else, or maybe he was on a call on his phone. “I'm talking to you. Why are you looking around like that?” He asked me, looking puzzled, and I wondered if he was still not the same person who had mumbled replies to my questions and killed every attempt I made to have a conversation with him. “You should listen to yourself sometimes and watch what you do too” I snapped at him, my emotions and ego still bruised that he had treated me that way and left me guessing what he truly felt for me.

Chapter 30 Augustus's POV She slept all through the rest of the trip. I had not meant to touch her that way when I had gotten out of the car, in fact, I had been going to give her a piece of my mind. But something in her eyes seemed to pull me in, it was almost like she had been begging me with every pore in her to do what I did, and I felt proud that I had done it just right. The surprise I had for her would even be better now, and I could not wait for her reaction when she saw it. She snores softly, and her eyes are partially open. None of the others had done that before, they had always been tough and strong. She was the one who confused me the most, as I didn't know whether to be hard or soft with her. I eased into the gates of where I had brought her and tapped her gently. She shifted at first, and after I tapped her again, her lashes finally flew open as she tried to adjust her sight to the light. “Where are we Augustus?” She asked me, her voice groggy with sleep. “It

He seemed like he would be, I was about to become the Queen of the Lycan people, the strongest and most supreme wolves. “He is fine. I'm afraid there isn't even much to say. Annalise lost her mate, he dumped her for a woman with bigger boobs. Can you imagine the irony of it?” Elana said, I thought about it and Annalise had always made fun of me because I was slightly thicker than she was. She once called me a fat pig in front of everyone in the pack on my birthday while my parents had gotten her a pony for hers. “I feel sorry for her. What about my mom? How did she take the news?” I asked, genuinely curiou

I was scared but then, I had not been with my family since I was born. It was hard to know what being with them would be like, I was curious. Augustus on the other hand, the thought of staying with him for the rest of my life was pleasing. I could feel my wolf leaping in joy. She wanted Augustus, we were going to pick Augustus but the thought of picking a man over my parents didn't sit right with me, so I decided that nothing was too big for me to sacrifice for them. He was the reason I had crooked fingers, seeing his crooked ones too. “What do you think daughter?” He asked me and I nodded my head. I never expected to meet my real family like this, I knew they were dead, but somehow they are alive in a different world. “I thought you and mom died. How come you both are still here?” I asked him and he laughed. “Because this is not the real world. Every ace that has ever lived is here. This is the home of the Aces after death. It's why no one can find it. Out there in the real world, you have to be dead to it before you can have access to this place…"It was as if him saying out there in the real world had juggled my memory and I remembered Augustus. I thought sadly about how he would never be able to come and see my home. “I have to go back” I said and heard Elana gasp behind me, “what is

Chapter 74Augustus's POV It's been three days. Three days since Olivia and Elana had lost touch with this reality. I knew they were at the Ace Kingdom, the only kingdom that was untouched by time or the realities that we lived here. I am sure that Olivia and Elana do not know how long they have been there for. The kingdom was agog with activities, one that included them seeing their brave queen who brought them victory, but I couldn't tell them that their queen was an ace wolf, and she has gone home for now. I wondered what Olivia would choose when it was time for her to decide, a part of me dreaded that she might choose never to return her and have her body transported to the ace world. That would mean that I would never see her again, something that scared me more than life itself. “Your Majesty, the councilmen have been waiting for over four hours now. They think your delay is to disrespect them.” Alexander said and I hissed. I wasn't in the mood for those clowns, especially n

Suddenly, all the wolves stood up, clapping and chanting like they were performing some sort of welcome ritual. I didn't know what to do or if I should join them. Elana bowed her head and since she was the only person I knew here, I followed her to do the same. “Rise my darlings” I heard a woman's voice above my head. When I raised my head to look at her, I was shocked to see the most pre

Trust me, I can smell some things from a thousand years away” he said, with a smile on his face and turned his attention to Elana, “Elana, I want you to know that I, Olivia Augustus Mate, the Great Lycan king and Uniter of the wolves and all life forms accept you as her Ace Guardian wolf” Augustus said just as Elana began to glow. Look, we can talk tomorrow morning, for now, there are certain things that I do not understand, and I am not in the right frame of mind to wrap my head around, do you mind if I get a few hours of sleep, and we regroup later in the day to talk about this?” I asked her, Elana looked at me for a while and threw her hands around my blood stained neck for some time. We both smelt alike. We carried the scent of battle, a mixture of smoke and dried, caked up blood. He opened the door and the screams of victory welcomed us home. We made our way to the palace, the men, and women looking at me with a new-found respect. They had obviously heard the rumors and thought that I had betrayed them, but they were the closest thing to a real family that I have ever had. “Welcome home your ma
