Chapter 26

Augustus's POV

“What do you mean by that?” I barked at Bennie, one of the councilmen who sat there looking at me.

“No…not like that your royal majesty” he said and bowed.

“All we are just saying is that, after leaving the kingdom for so long to find your mate, we were not expecting that you would come back with a woman that we can barely scent the strength of her wolf. I believe it is why Councilman Benjamin asked, Your highness” Elder Leo added.

Elder Leo was one of the men that tried to make life difficult for me in the kingdom because he is the only surviving Elder from the reign of my father. He used that as an advantage to challenge me on some issues without any form of decorum and I have been indulging him.

“She is the woman I have chosen and that is final” I said, and I could see the displeasure on the faces of the men.

“I think that if she will be queen in seven days, we should at least know what kind of wolf she is since she has no scent or have you fi

Chapter 27 Augustus's POV “Elder Leo is certainly not happy with your decision. He was not expecting it” Alexander said to me as soon as we got to my office. “I know, it's why I didn't inform any of them. They had all prepared to meet my bride and judge her while they all sat on the terrible things they have been doing for five years” I said to Alexander, a satisfied look on my face. I knew this would put them on their toes, and they won't have time to investigate what I knew was currently an insecurity for Olivia. Only if she knew how strong and powerful she was. Telling her what I knew now would mean I have to start talking to her about everything else which meant that she would hate me. “What are you thinking about?” Alexander asked me, this was why he was my beta. He understood me before I use my words, and he could read my face better than anyone else. “I need to find Olivia and speak to her about the wedding” I said to him. “Oh, about that. You didn't mention anythi

Chapter 28 Olivia's POV “You are truly a beauty to behold” one of the pack members said to me as soon as I finished singing. The crowd had erupted in elation, but then the noise had quickly died now and when I looked up, I saw exactly why it had. Augustus. Behind him, Alexander trotted obediently, his demeanor one that would intimidate even death itself. The people bowed to him and for a brief moment, I didn't know what to do. It was the first time that his people would be seeing us together, and I could not remember anything from what Alexander taught me about handling issues like this one I had found myself in. “My Queen” he said, a smile spreading on his face as he gathered me to his chest and hugged me. My cheeks reddened in embarrassment and I gripped his shirt to hide my face in, smearing his crispy white shirt with my lipstick. “I stained your shirt” I whispered to him, not wanting him to find out on his own and get upset about it. “It doesn't matter. Everyone know

Chapter 29 Olivia's POV The drive was long and silent, with me falling asleep at some point from both exhaustion and boredom. He didn't say much to me, almost like he wasn't the same man who had spoken about me like I was the best thing in the world. I felt hurt and wondered what he was going to do with me, where we were going to. “What's on your mind?” I heard his voice cut sharply into my thoughts, I looked around the car to confirm that it was indeed me he was speaking with and not someone else, or maybe he was on a call on his phone. “I'm talking to you. Why are you looking around like that?” He asked me, looking puzzled, and I wondered if he was still not the same person who had mumbled replies to my questions and killed every attempt I made to have a conversation with him. “You should listen to yourself sometimes and watch what you do too” I snapped at him, my emotions and ego still bruised that he had treated me that way and left me guessing what he truly felt for me.

Chapter 30 Augustus's POV She slept all through the rest of the trip. I had not meant to touch her that way when I had gotten out of the car, in fact, I had been going to give her a piece of my mind. But something in her eyes seemed to pull me in, it was almost like she had been begging me with every pore in her to do what I did, and I felt proud that I had done it just right. The surprise I had for her would even be better now, and I could not wait for her reaction when she saw it. She snores softly, and her eyes are partially open. None of the others had done that before, they had always been tough and strong. She was the one who confused me the most, as I didn't know whether to be hard or soft with her. I eased into the gates of where I had brought her and tapped her gently. She shifted at first, and after I tapped her again, her lashes finally flew open as she tried to adjust her sight to the light. “Where are we Augustus?” She asked me, her voice groggy with sleep. “It

Chapter 31 Olivia's POV I was so elated. Nothing could have prepared me for the surprise that I had gotten even though it stirred over a million questions in my head. For now, I was just going to go with the flow and enjoy it. “How is my father?” I asked, my heart beating with anticipation as I wished I could stand in front of him right now and ask him if he was proud of me. He seemed like he would be, I was about to become the Queen of the Lycan people, the strongest and most supreme wolves. “He is fine. I'm afraid there isn't even much to say. Annalise lost her mate, he dumped her for a woman with bigger boobs. Can you imagine the irony of it?” Elana said, I thought about it and Annalise had always made fun of me because I was slightly thicker than she was. She once called me a fat pig in front of everyone in the pack on my birthday while my parents had gotten her a pony for hers. “I feel sorry for her. What about my mom? How did she take the news?” I asked, genuinely curiou

Chapter 32 Olivia's POV We drove back to the palace when it was dusk, I was famished and tired from talking all day and I wondered why Augustus had not just brought Elana to me in the palace. The atmosphere in the car was lively even though it was only Elana and I that spoke. Augustus has been quiet all day as if he had something bugging his mind, I wondered what that could be since he had been in a good mood earlier. “So you are really getting married?” Elana asked me, her face filled with disbelief. She couldn't seem to believe how much I had matured in the last few months, and it still shocked her. “I am! I'm glad I finally have someone from my own side over here. Thank you, Augustus” I said and he nodded his head courteously. “How were you able to find her? How did you even know about her?” I asked him, hoping to get him to say something. “It's my little secret” he said and smiled at me. We were probably the only three that had ever seen him smile, seeing his lips spr

Chapter 33 Augustus's POV “Did you set the men on the trail?” I asked Alexander as he sat opposite me in my office. “Yes your majesty, I did everything as we planned” he replied calmly. I narrowed my eyes at him as he didn't look too bright, whenever he looked like this, it could only mean one thing, I had done something that he didn't find pleasing. I knew Alexander like the back of my palm and nothing got past me when it came to him. “What is it, Alexander? Do you have something on your mind that you want to say?” I asked him, and he looked at me, the shock evident in his face that I had been able to read him. “Nothing your highness” he answered. “I'm sure your face is in this position because of nothing, you better spare me the time and go straight to the point. You know I don't have any to waste” I said to him and relaxed in my chair holding his gaze. “You didn't inform me about your plan to bring Miss Elana to the Kingdom, neither did you mention your wedding plans

Chapter 34 Olivia's POV “Where are you coming from?” Augustus asked me, his voice was hard, and his eyes were icy. I swallowed nervously, not wanting him to know about my secret. “I went to see the other side of the fence” I lied. He looked at me, hard and long, as if he could see that I was lying. “Okay. Come with me” he said and turned, walking straight to our chambers. I fell in step behind him, my heart slamming against my chest in fear. His aura was different tonight, and he looked as if he wanted to eat me raw. Once we got to the room, he held my hands and pulled me into the bathroom, locking the door behind him before I could even understand what was going on. “What is it?” I asked him, backing up against the other side of the bathroom, away from him. “Don't you think that after all that has happened today, we need to discuss?” He asked me, walking up to me and pressing my back against the cold walls of the bathroom. “Can't we do that in the room?” I asked him, t

They were both shivering and looked like they had not expected this to happen even though I wondered why. Nile had given them up so easily, and I knew they would have noticed that. “We don't know, we swear. We won't be foolish to lie to you” Alpha Brandon responded, but I knew immediately that he was lying. I slapped him squarely across the face, pissed off that he thought I was someone he could mess around with.“Oh please, let my poor husband go. Nile lied to you. We did go to him, but he refused to let her come with us, we wanted to contact you, but we didn't want you to think that we had anything to do with it” the Luna said as the tears rolled down her eyes, but I didn't care. They were lying and everyone in this room knew it. I pulled out a dagger from my waist band and brandished it in front of the two old peop

Augustus had been so heartbroken with the whole thing. I was so confused. A lot was not making sense to me right now. “Don't look so surprised. You didn't think I would be that cheap to kill, did you?” He asked, his teeth glistening in the hot afternoon sun. I was so angry, each movement of his aggravating me. “How…how could you do this to him?” I asked, my emotions pouring into every word I said. “Do this to whom? The same man who threw me in jail because of you? I have been with that sick bastard for several lifetimes and each time, he has discarded me because of some woman he kept hoping would be you” he said, the anger evident in his voice as I had never heard him use that tone before. Chapter 102Olivia's POV “Father” I asked, not believing my eyes. The last thing I remembered was Nile dragging me out to the forest and telling me that he was going to leave me to be feasted upon by wild animals. He had injected me with something that immediately made me feel sleepy. Now, opening my eyes I was shocked to find myself in a place that I knew too much. It was my former pack, a place that I had run away from, disgraced and hurt. The one place that I never wanted to go back to. How had this happened? I asked myself. “Don't you dare call him that!” I heard my fake mother's voice and realized that these people were not my friends, they didn't love me. They are my enemies. I had to start seeing them in that light. “Well, I won't. To think that I forgot and bestowed such honor on the two of you” I snapped at him and Alpha Brandon slapped me. I felt the metallic taste of blood in my mouth and spat out a mouthful of blood. “You are still arrogant? After you had us thrown ou

  • For Every Lifetime   All For Nothing

Chapter 101Augustus's POV I crawled my way up the hill, making sure that none of my movements made more sounds than a whisper. The plan had to work, I needed to be sure that Elana had not been right about her suspicion, I didn't know what I would do to Nile if I found out that he had anything to do with the disappearance of my wife. Wife. The word sounded in my eyes. Olivia wasn't just my mate bound to me by the moon goddess, she was also my wife, bound to me by the laws of the kingdom in front of everyone we ruled over. It was different now, and I realized that I could not let her leave me. No matter how great I thought her being away for now, I knew her place was right beside me. Even all those lifetimes ago, she had captured my heart in ways that I didn't think was possible and every time I had to go back to Ariel, all that had consumed my mind at the end of the day was the explosive time I had with the other woman. The same man I now had a chance to be with after 999 lifetime

Chapter 100Elana's POV I could have sworn that Olivia was back in the palace. It was only when I got to Augustus's office that I realized that it was his guest that had the same scent with Olivia. It wasn't entirely hers, it was mixed with his also, meaning that this man must have been in the same place with Olivia within the last twenty-four hours. “My king, I would like us to speak privately” I said after I told him that I could scent Olivia. “Give me a few minutes” he said, and I went out to wait for him to finish with his guest. One that I suddenly didn't trust anymore. I knew that Augustus wasn't one to condone any form of evil, it was shocking that he was there drinking with a man that should clearly not be trusted. I had barely finished my train of thoughts when the door opened and Augustus came out with the strange man. They shook hands and the man gave me a respectful bow before leaving, I tried my best to smile, but I knew that I probably looked ridiculous. As soon as

Chapter 99Augustus's POV Even though it had been a week since Olivia disappeared from my life, the pain only increased with every passing second. I thought I knew where she had gone, she mentioned going to the human settlement but, I have combed every town and city in the last week and not even one person had seen her. "Your majesty” I heard Elana's quiet voice interrupting my thoughts, I had no desire to see or speak to anyone. "Elana" I said quietly, not even bothering to face her. “She reached out to me. I don't know, but she is in some sort of danger. I was cut off before I could get anything else” she said, and I immediately turned, my ears ready to listen to anything else that would point us in the right direction. “Why didn't she reach out to me?” I asked, a stab of jealousy piercing my heart. “I'm sure she only reached out to me because our connection is more shared. Technically, I am her guardian wolf.” She explained and I nodded my head. “What did you see? What did s

The food immediately lost its taste and turned to sand in my mouth. I was devastated and the only thing I wanted to do now was to run. The one thing I couldn't afford to do right now. “I…I… Am not Olivia or whatever you say her name is” I managed to say, my voice sounding alien even to me. He laughed, loudly, then got up and went to the mini bar behind his chair to pull out a bottle of raw alcohol. “You see, I had my doubts when I saw you. King Augustus has been on my radar for a while and I kept racking my brain on how to get him to notice me. When I saw you, I had my doubts but today, after seeing the way you have cleaned up nicely, I know without a doubt that you are queen Olivia of the Lycan Kingdom” he said, his voice increasing in pitch and tempo with every word. “I am not her. Chapter 97Olivia's POV The next time I gained consciousness, I was in a different room. My hands were no longer bound and the room had more ventilation than the previous one that I had been in. I struggled to get up, my body was weak from lack of food and the pregnancy that was tearing my insides with the need for food. Just then, there was a rustling of keys at the door and I quickly laid back down, pretending to be asleep. A middle-aged woman made her way into the room, she didn't even bother to look at me before setting the plate roughly on the floor, some of its contents spilling out of the plate. “I know you are awake, I saw you when you were running back to lie down on your bed. You better wake up and eat, the Alpha would soon send for you” she said and left the room before I could get a word out. Her words had stunned me, I laid there for some time before the rumbling of my stomach pushed me from the bed. I made my way to the plate, each step making me dizzier than I was.

Ever since she left, which was now exactly 24 hours ago, I had imagined hearing her call me or her sweet scent welcoming me back to our chambers after a long day out there. My life felt empty, and I wished that I had not said anything to her about Ariel, instead, I had just told her the truth. “Your Majesty, you sent for me?” Elana said, I had not let her have a moment of rest since yesterday, she had done all she could to link with Olivia, but she was too far, beyond our reach. “Have you had any luck yet?” I asked, even though I already knew what the answer would be. “Not yet your majesty” she said and even though I already knew what the answer would be, my heart broke into a thousand pieces for the umpteenth time that day. “Fine.” I said grumpi
